In this we tackle “Comics aimed at Children” we didn’t go massively in depth but just touched some of our favourites and had a brief chat about what classes as all sges and should the libraries review how the classify comics ages.

This time on the podcast we get real. Like, really real. Yes, we are getting down, deep and dark by covering some “Heavy Comics”

That doesn’t mean we can’t have a good laugh along the way though. We have a little catch up, Mke has a little technical issue at the start and we gain an echo. Disclaimer! We did actually gain an echo near Nando’s books. There was a slight problem and we couldn’t get rid of it. It’s barely noticeable, but just so you folks know going in. It’s already heavy enough without the sound going that way as well.

Welcome back to part 2.

Strap yourselves in folks. Our Mike is about to tell the tale of cinema.

This was supposed to be a top 10… Someone didn’t give Mike the memo. Dave and Tom book end this episode with their lists but this is Mike Sedakat’s Odyssey.

We chat on what seems like every movie known to human existence. We have such a great laugh doing so though. This was so much fun putting this 2 parter together and we really hope you’ve enjoyed/enjoy it.

We will be back to our regular comics chat next time.

We hope you are all safe, healthy and happy out there.

Here comes the movie chat on…

You all missing the cinemas, movie theatres, picture houses? So are we. That’s why we have a special 2 part episode where we sit down and chat about our favourite films.

We recorded this episode back in November 2018. We really hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed making it. This first part is made up of some preamble, and Nando’s “Top 10” as you will see, very few of us managed to actually stick to just 10. Just wait until part 2 coming next week…

This and all the usual… well, film/movie chat this time, on…

“How’s about a little chat? ”

This time on “That Comic Smell” Tom sits down with comic creators and all round brillaints folks, Olivia Hicks (@missoliviahicks) and Hailey Austin (@HaileyJayAustin) to have a “Creator Conversation”

This interview was from back before Christmas last year (2019) so there is some Xmas chat at the top and throughout but they cover so many other topics that you won’t even notice. The likes of, 50 shades of grey, the preservations of films, youtubers, animals, and so much more.

They also got so wrapped up in the conversation that Tom forgot to ask where to find Olivia and Hailey online etc. So here are some links for the pair of them.

“LIVE FROM SPARK CON! IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT ”

Genuinely, that above quote is true. We actually got asked and took part in the online convention of none other than Little Heroes Comics “Spark Con 2020” Dave, Mike, Nando and Tom were all live streaming about the tope 3 comics creators of all time. We each gave a list and we tried to figure out where there was ones that matched up. We really got into it. It’s been great for all of us being able to sit down and chat comics regularly and to then be able to do it live was just ideal.

This is an uneditied version of what went out that Saturday night. You can see the video version on the “Fair Spark Books” YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyRQDsYSrMmcP38aQZCf83Q/featured along with many more great videos from that day.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank Aaron who ran the event and all for a great cause https://tinyurl.com/y7yjgyz2

Also to the people who watched along and gave us some great comments and questions. It was a lot of fun and we hope you enjoy listening back if you missed out or fancy listening again.

“What the hell is an internet?”

Hello everyone. That Comic Smell is joining the ranks of many other fine podcasts by going remote. Yes, we are unfortunately stuck like this for the next while so hope you all don’t mind our attempt at chatting over Skype. We finally get a chance to catch up and chat some good old fashioned comics. What we’ve been reading whilst stuck in doors. How we are all getting on with being indoors. How there is silver linings to every bad situation and a lot less chomping. None of us had any food. No Biscuits. No tea. It’s not right!

As a little bonus, head across to our Twitter (@ThatComicSmell) to get a daily recommendation from our very own Fernando (#NandosComicOfTheDay)

“The times they are a changing ”

Cast your mind back. Back before Thought Bubble. Back before we were all trapped in a bubble. Back before 2020… You there? Right, now you are in the headspace for our newest creator conversation, which was recorded September of 2019. Our Tom kept wating for the right time to put this out that it almost never came out. But he had such a good time sitting down with Norrie and Rebecca we couldn’t have that at all. So here it is in all it’s glory.

Honestly it was such a blast sitting down with these two incredibly artists/creators and not the usual skype either. We are from the same town so Tom took a trip to their home, which they kindly invited him along to.

So sit back, relax and enjoy.

“If at first you don’t succeed, wait a couple years and come back to it I guess ”

Hello! Hello! Welcome to another edition of That Comic Smell. This time we are discussing the books that we have sought after. The ones that have sat on the shelves with a proverbial halo around them and angel chorus. We are talking about our absolute holiest of “Holy Grails” but in the same breathe we are also discussing the ones that have sat on our shelves dormant and unused, waiting for us just to pick them up one day and actually flick through without putting them straight back and declaring them “Intention Fails”
