Questions to ask the person in Pain:
1. Are you in pain---if yes--
2. ask what part of the body
3. ask for a number on the 0-10 scale
4. Is it constant or intermittent
5. Describe pain using words like:
Aching, sharp, shooting, burning, tingling, numbness, searing, jabbing, stabbing, etc
6. Ask what relieves pain, sleep, elevate extremity, heat, ice, bath, massage, or medication
7. what number they take nothing, what number they need over the counter meaning Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen, then what number for Prescription pain medicine.
