Hallie and I jump into a fun conversation this week as we explore the concept of intrapreneurship versus entrepreneurship! We define each of them and what makes them different, and the personality traits that tend to go along with each label. Hallie talks about how she discovered she was an intrapreneur, and we provide some ways that entrepreneurs can feel a little less lonely and isolated. We also provide some practical ways to see which one is in alignment with you, so you can best thrive along your journey.
Still not sure which you are? Take our quiz to find out!

This week, Hallie and I drew inspiration from our friend Tom Murphy, a former professional MMA fighter who owns the company Sweethearts and Heroes, which sheds a light on bullying and has reached over two million students in its message for empathy and empowerment. We talk about why bullying is worse now than ever, and how we as leaders have the duty to notice the small changes in others and get curious about how they really are doing. We discuss what self-bullying is, and how we can help start the conversation with our own children about what to do if they experience being bullied. See full show notes.
Every industry has pockets of growth and downturns, but the recent years have shown us what a whole new level of leadership looks like. This brings up the conversation this week, which is the Peacetime vs. Wartime CEO. Hallie and I first identify what it even means to be a Peacetime vs. Wartime leader, and how to know which personality traits and characteristics go with each. We discuss the external factors that come to play in knowing what type of CEO you need to be to best lead and have fun breaking down the different strategies according to Ben Horowitz’s book, The Hard Thing About Hard Things. If you are under ambush, would you run straight forward and into the attack? This week, Hallie and I recount a super interesting talk we heard from Mike Smith, former Navy SEAL and CEO of both private and public companies, along with serving as the Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Human Services. Known as the “guy to come in and save companies,” Mike has a lot of wisdom to share on bringing mental fortitude into both business and spirituality. We first talk about why you want to face ambush head-on rather than retreat, and how to start freeing yourself of the mental energy that comes with ruminating about your decisions. Hallie and I also talk about embracing spiritual lessons in every facet of life, and what leaving a living legacy can mean to help future generations. See full show notes.
My guest this week was raised in a bar, which in turn raised her bar for consciousness, open communication, and living on purpose. Amy Eliza Wong is a highly sought-after speaker, coach, and author of the new book, Living On Purpose. She joins the show to talk about seeing the connection of all things in life at an early age, and why math was a way for her to fully immerse herself in both the spiritual and tangible language of life. Amy talks about ways to get in touch with your intuition and instincts, and how to get out of the “shoulds” and more into the flow. She and I discuss what it really looks like to step into your purpose, and why resistance to reality is what causes our suffering. I know you’ll enjoy this super insightful and fun talk with Amy.
Hallie and I tap into our youthful side this week, as we share the framework I use for teaching my kids about life, exploring their own unique identities, and what it truly means to have passion. The framework we use here can be used to explore your relationship with anyone: spouse, co-worker, friend, etc. I talk about each of my kids, Sienna, Asher, and Maddy, and how their personalities and perspectives are all vastly different, along with the life lessons I try and teach them every day about kindness, having grit, and embracing your utter weirdness. Hallie and I both talk about the feelings we’ve experienced going back into our journals, and why it’s not always the easiest taking a trip down memory lane. See full show notes.
This week I welcome Monique Helstrom, Consultant, Speaker, and former Chief of Simon Sinek. We dive into a great talk about how she went from the event planning space to helping people unlock their human potential and how she overcame challenges that came up along the way. Monique and I discuss how leaders can help make sure company values are communicated clearly, and that people are hired in a way that speaks to the overall spirit of where the company wants to go. Monique talks about how we can first recognize signs of burnout and the larger spiritual meaning behind it. She talks about how organizations need true diversity for innovation, and why it’s a good thing if not everyone thinks and feels the same at work. See full show notes.
How do you have goals and things you want to accomplish yet still remain peaceful, and not get impatient or disheartened if it seems like what you want is taking forever to show up or come to fruition? This week, Hallie and I talk about how to still have goals and stay motivated, but detach from the outcome and surrender to the reality of “now.” We first talk about the idea of how the mind talks us into believing that getting something will make us feel a certain way, and how the emotion we are looking for can come from within us first. We then discuss how to let go of the mental tension when your outer life looks different than what your internal expectations had, and why real spiritual growth can be the hardest path to take but the one that’s going to ultimately give you what your soul desires in both business and spirituality. See full show notes.
Howdy, partner. This week, Hallie and I break down all things partnerships and how they can serve as our next level of growth in both business and spirituality. We first define the difference between an entrepreneur and an intrapreneur, and how to get clear on which one you may be. Hallie and I talk about areas in our life where we prefer partnerships, and why some people may desire to go it alone. Then, we strategize on how to build a partnership that has authenticity and trust and is a win/win for both parties and why it’s important to be honest and upfront if you prefer the solo route.
“Hey, don’t take it personally.” It’s a phrase we have all heard throughout our lives, but what does it really mean? This week, Hallie and I discuss what it really means to take something personally from both a spiritual and leadership approach. We talk about what taking something personally has to do with your ego, and how to learn to separate the “you” that is experiencing something with the inevitable unfolding of life. We share what we’ve stopped taking so personally in our lives. And, finally, we discuss how leaders can better handle having tough conversations with their employees without telling them to not take things so personally. See full show notes.
