The idea behind Project Sidekick has been the subject of enough science fiction stories that it shouldn’t take you long to get the idea. You put on a Hololens headset, which positions a transparent visor in front of your eyes. There are miniature cameras mounted on the headset so that Ground Control can see whatever you can see. And the visor is also a projection screen so that Ground Control can display a 3D visual schematic to overlie whatever you may be looking at through the visor – and while all that’s going on you will continue to get Ground Control audio in your ear.

Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006.
Today's 2 topics:
- Eric Christensen discovered 3,000' diameter PHA 2017 CH1. This would be big trouble if it hit Earth. Luckily it isn't expected to do so anytime soon.
- Richard Kowalski discovered 2008 TC3 which exploded harmlessly over Africa. Meteorites from it have been recovered. This was the first time that an asteroid was tracked before impact and then found on the ground. It was spotted 19 hours before it hit.

A comet has been discovered that is also two asteroids!
Asteroid 288P is located way out in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, making it a little difficult to observe.
However, in September 2016, it traveled a bit closer to Earth, allowing us to finally get a detailed look with the Hubble Space Telescope.
