Atonement: The Blood
Hebrews 9:11-10:18

Main idea: The blood of Christ is the means of the atonement.

Blood is the source of life (Leviticus 17:11; Romans 6:23).
Christ’s blood is the proof of his sacrificial death (Romans 6:10).
Christ’s blood is the source of our salvation (Hebrews 9:11-10:18).

Exodus 20:17

TEN: With Honor
Exodus 20:12

Main idea: We honor God with obedience to the Father, as Jesus did.

The parent/child relationship is symbolic of the God/man relationship (Exodus 20:12; Ephesians 6:1).

Honor is given in obedience (Ex. 20:12; Eph. 6:5).

Obedience carries obligations of conduct (Ex. 20:12; Eph. 6:4-9).

Obedience results in God’s promised blessings (Ex. 20:12; Eph. 6:2-3).

Main Idea:


“Sabbath” means “rest.”
Busyness is the enemy of rest (Exodus 20:8).
Rest is a necessity for everyone (Exodus 20:9-10).
Rest reminds us of who we are and who God is (Exodus 20:11).
