ESO news: The Dragon Bones update is now live with two new dungeons and accompanying new items sets, monster helms and achievements. There's only a handful of players in ESO these days but an AIE is available in game and a channel is active in Discord for those interested.

NOMADS

Season 13 in Diablo 3 has officially started and the group of usual suspects are in there doing our thing, come join us, it's free to play after all. And a new League will be starting in Path of Exile this coming Friday at 1pm ET, it, also, is free to play, and really a lot of fun. Come on by and give Apolas and Durus a shout.

Gusty is hosting a transmog swapmeet, a WoW event, for the Trial of Style, giving away transmog gear. March 3rd at 4pm and march 4th at 1pm.

Also a reminder of the upcoming April 1st Fools Rush in Challenge

Do a raid or dungeon on Sunday, April 1, in your least-played spec. Yep. Tanks go heals (and vice versa if you're a Druid). Hunters go Survival (which may be a misnomer in this case). Mages go Arcane (get to hear the cool stuff your weapon says!) The idea is to have fun and make a fool of yourself with friends.

SWTOR Escape Pod Cast 231: Not a Roadmap to Taris

This week @AIESema, @MaxTheGrey and Astromech EPC-231 walk through the game update news posted about 5.8 and 5.9 in the "not a roadmap" post all while we finally get our story play-through onto the surface of Taris

Update news for updates 5.8 and 5.9 are now published. We'll be seeing those updates in March and April. This will include the final boss of the Gods From The Machine operation, conclusion to the Traitor story with a Flash Point on Nathema, and updates to Conquest, among other things.

Mandatory Fun Night will be on Pub side this week running Dread Fortress and next week on Imp side running Dread Palace.

Little Ladies' Day, the next seasonal event starts on 1 March.

It features concert glow lights, doll furniture display, and music.

Development Laboratories rank III will be completing mid week. This will allow the purchase of an additional ground reputation trait and space reputation trait. These will be able to be purchased at the fleet science lab. After this completed, we will begin work on the final upgrade for the science lab. This will be a big project and take a lot of resources.

And as always the fleet has been doing amazing with all the hard work on the fleet projects.

The Battle for Azeroth alpha is out and a number of streamers have been showing off gameplay. Are you in the alpha or have you watched any of the streams? Let us know what you think.

The parting has been amicable, but we all look forward to shooting each other in the near future!

1. The featured episode, 'Scylla (skil-ah) and Charybdis (ka-rib-dis)’, rewards for weeks 2 and 3 have been unlocked. See the STO website for the exciting details.

2. It’s an upgrade weekend, captains! All Technology Boost Tokens used to upgrade weapons, shields, ground weapons, etc, will earn you DOUBLE technology points.

Notes for WoW - Trial of Style Season 2, April Fools, and Ralff

Acuzod - There are some great events coming up in WoW over the next few months. From March 5th to March 9th, there will be a micro-holiday called Trial of Style Season 2. This is the return of the ultimate transmog tournament, where you compete against five other players to see who can create the best transmog outfit to match the challenge theme. At the end of the tournament, you win some amount of transmog tokens, based on how you placed, which can be used to buy unique transmog sets created for the event. If you are a mogger, talk to a transmog NPC in any capital city to join the tournament.

Syreyne - Also coming up in April, our very own Gustytail has set forth a challenge. She is daring you all to a Fools Rush In event. ( http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/57485-april1-fools-rush-in-challenge/ ) The idea is to play your least favorite/geared/known spec and run dungeons and raids with your fellow “fools”. Death and chaos may ensue, but there should be tons of laughs for everyone. If you haven’t figured it out by now, the event is on April Fools Day aka April 1st. We know that’s also Easter Sunday, so we are opening it up to that whole first week of April. Make sure you take plenty of screenshots and tag the guild on Twitter!

Acuzod - As you may or may not know, February 13th is our guild anniversary. It is a time to cheer for the beginning of AIE and the start of this wonderful community. It is also a time of sadness, as last year on February 17th, we lost one of our greatest members who was the epitome of what AIE is….Ralff aka Roger White.

Syreyne - One of the last events Ralff wanted to do in WoW was an Amazing Race. So for Ralff and all that he did for this community, we are now hosting an annual event in his honor...Ralff’s Amazing Race!

Acuzod - The race will start in Orgrimmar on Saturday, February 17th. At 8pm server time (Eastern), we will open registrations with a shotgun start at 9pm. The event shouldn’t run more than an hour or so…..plenty of time for everyone to join NOOB raid afterwards! Just like in the real amazing race, everyone will be given the first clue at the same time. You’ll have to figure the clue out and find your hidden officer. Once you get there, you may have to do an emote or mini-challenge to receive your next clue.

Syreyne - Points are given to out for those that make it to the hidden mark. More points for first, second, or third, but everyone that gets there for the clue will receive points. There may also be bonus points earned with hidden or special mini-challenges. The top four people with the highest points win prizes! And everyone participating gets a Left Shark!!! Seriously….everyone….

Acuzod - Don’t worry about being level 110. All the locations are in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun, but level 60 flying could give you an edge. You can compete as a pair (2 people) but you have to register that way. So if you’re under 60, grab a flying buddy and take to the skies!

Syreyne - While you can fly yourself (and a buddy!) and take flight points, please don’t use class specific cheats to hop around the world...mage portals, druid dreamway, etc. We want to make this as fair for everyone as possible. The clue givers will be keeping track of points on a spreadsheet, so once you’ve made it to the final destination, head on back to Gallywix’s to party before NOOB raid!

Rumor has it, the WoW team is cooking up something special for the February event based on an idea that Ralff had and the the SWTOR team has run in the past. Curious? So are we, can’t wait to find out more as we get closer to the event.

The guild is named Alea Iacta Est Cartis and is available for all AIE members to join.

On the Crowfall side of news, game is getting more finished and we'll surely have an open beta (currently still a kickstarter beta, and the kickstarter campaign is closed) this summer with release sometime this year.

Still a lot of work but basic issues like animation cancellations and powers are fixed and are fluid now.

Patch 7.3.5 - Patch Notes - https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/21365423

A lot of content shipped with this patch but isn’t available for play yet. If you have killed the last raid boss in Antorus on any difficulty, the character that killed him will get a new breadcrumb quest leading to Orgrimmar and the new quest line leading up to the next expansion, Battle For Azeroth. As of right now, you do need to kill the last boss in Antorus on each character you want to get the new content available to them, it is not account wide. No word if it will become account wide later in the patch cycle.

For all you altoholics, the new zone scaling is in for all content zones as well as a nerf to XP gained both through heirloom gear and quest/mob XP rewards, so as they say in Pandaria “Slow Down!” and enjoy the leveling content.

Holiday Dungeons are also now available to all characters starting at level 20 (same level as the new Allied races start at, coincidence? I think not) and the rewards will scale with character level.

And, as of right now, all Dungeons reward personal loot, which means if you want a piece for transmog, you have to run it on a class capable of obtaining it from the loot table. Expect the prices of BoE greens to skyrocket.

Captain Cybyl’s Star Trek Online News Summary for week ending 01/20/2018:

1. STO’s 8th Anniversary celebration is now upon us with new story arcs, featured episodes, Q’s party patrol, Omega particles, an anniversary T6 Interceptor starship giveaway, new and wondrous rewards and daily free prizes. Ship stats and details are up on the STO website.

2. The new featured episode to start the story arc, 'Scylla and Charybdis’, features Captain LeForge, Captain Kuumaarke and General Martok fighting the final, epic battle against the genocidal Tzenkethi. See the STO website for the exciting details.

3. With the launch of the 8th anniversary, a new backstory, ’They Came From Below’, has been posted on the STO website. This must-read story is one novel answer to the age-old question: Why does God Need a Starship?’.

4. From January 15th to January 23rd, random daily, one-time-only, free prizes will be available in-game. So far 10000 refined dilithium, Phoenix lockboxes and a classic starship have been awarded. Don’t hesitate! Check the website and get in-game for the next drop.

5. A new Discovery Lockbox has been added to the game honouring the new series Star Trek: Discovery! Federation and Klingon players have a chance to win Discovery-featured epic starships! Concurrently, the Lobi store shall be selling Discovery secondary ships.

6. Speaking of new lockboxes: Lockbox keys on the C-Store are now on sale for a 15% discount. Sale is from January 16th through the 26th.

7. Star Trek Online is partnering with Loot Crate to bring you STO goodies throughout 2018! Every two months, a new Star Trek Mission Crate, loaded with Star Trek keepsakes, will be released. Additionally, each of these boxes will include unlock codes for STO in-game items like Starships, Bridge Officers, gear and exclusive emotes! The website tells all!

Upwell 2.0 Structure Changes coming on February 13th!

As we mentioned at EVE Vegas, the core of the Upwell Structures 2.0 design consists of four major pillars:

“Full power” and “low power” modes for structures

A new vulnerability and reinforcement system

In addition to the four pillars, this release will also include a significant set of other smaller changes to Upwell Structures and their associated mechanics.

WoW: Got my 11th Class (Demon Hunter) through the class order hall and mount quests and working on the 12th and final class (Monk) who is currently 105 and working through the beginning of Azsuna. He’s an inscriptionist, so it was either Azsuna or Stormheim.

NOOB raid is back for 2018! They had a full group and downed four bosses in ToS normal. If you are interested in NOOB raid, contact Dankinia in discord or on twitter- they run on Saturdays at 11 server time, the only requirements is that you are level 110 and want to have fun!

MFN - for the 12th of December Explosive Conflict on the Galactic Republic side.

For the 19th of December Terror from Beyond on the Sith Empire Side.

December 26th and January 2nd we'll be on break, we will be back on the 9th of January for a visit at Karraga's Palace on the Sith Empire side.

Patch 5.6.1 hits on Tuesday and one of the highlights is some tuning to the new Copero flashpoint.

Here are the current patch notes for these changes in 5.6.1 (still subject to change, check on Monday for the final).

Bosses have had their health significantly reduced in both Story and Solo Mode.

The damage done by bosses has been reduced in both Story and Solo Mode.

Bosses have had their health slightly reduced in both Veteran and Master Mode.

The number of enemies has been reduced throughout the Flashpoint.

The Guardian Droid will no longer instant cast their Mortar Volley ability.

The Copero Security Droid will no longer instant cast their Seeker Missile ability.

Also, of note for Tetsemi, who loves his dailies

5.6.1 - The lack of that Daily Mission means you actually get less CXP than you did previously from the Daily areas, which is not something we want. In fact, we want you to get a lot more CXP from solo Missions in the game. In Game Update 5.6.1 all of the Planetary Heroic Missions and Daily Area Missions are going to have their CXP rewards tripled to 225 CXP per Mission (up from 75).

Our goal with this change is that both Planetary Heroics and Daily Area Missions are great sources of CXP for solo players. These changes in 5.6.1 along with all of the other increased rewards for both group and solo in Activity Finder means you can gain Command Ranks quicker than ever in whatever activities you choose to play.

Also, starting Tuesday until the end of the year, they are having a Double XP, CXP, and Valor event. This was supposed to happen with the launch of 5.6, but some bits got misplaced and are now in order.

1. It’s that time of year again, captains: Q’s Winter Wonderland Event from December 7th to January 18th! Star Trek’s favorite Pain-in-the-Asteroid will be offering a gorgeous, Breen heavy raider starship and tons of other outstanding equipment for event prize vouchers. Traditional events plus new events will reward prize vouchers to all participants. Q’s snarky responses are included at no extra charge. See the details on the STO website.

2. The new Dranuur Colony fleet starbase’s next upgrade project has been unlocked: 'Colony Utility: Lamps'. The colony gets really, really dark at night. See the STO website for details.

Some uncertainty on the future, with massive layoffs at CCP, including all the community managers.

Layoffs linked to VR, officially, but more reaching than the announcement. Not the first set of layoffs in the 15y of the game, but still worrisome, now that CCP is supported by an investment fund.

Alpha pilots (those you can play for free) have more ships and skills accessible, but those new skills need paid training or injectors to learn.

* Clans are "meta" : all platforms (xbox, psn, pc) are in the clan but you only see the in-game roster for the specific platform you're currently playing.

* The roster is currently broken on PC (it was on the console at release as well).

* The PC clan members are reaping the rewards of the console players' efforts the past few months. We are at the max clan level and receiving all perks for the current season. No announcement yet on when seasons will cycle.

Patch 7.3.2 dropped since our last show and has a lot of tweaks to several character classes. Notes can be found here, https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/21121541 , but one of Tetsemi’s favorite updates is that they added a Primal Sagerite vendor to the Vindicar so you can trade in Primal Sargerite for Argus materials. This is much better than, for Tetsemi, than trying to prospect ore to get the right color gem, instead you can just buy it for 10 Primal Sagerites.

There are also a bunch of changes that didn’t make it into the patch notes and WoWHead has them all - https://www.wowhead.com/news=274728/undocumented-changes-in-patch-7-3-2 One of my favorite ones is that they fixed it so you can turn in Argus quests no matter where the Vindicar is located. Personally, I got used to moving the ship to all three locations just to make sure I wasn’t missing any quests and to do the turn-ins.

Also, with Blizzcon coming up this weekend, be sure to tune in and find out what’s in store for WoW (and other Blizzard games) and where we’re going after Argus.

1. The Earth celebration known as Halloween is spreading to the galaxy’s greatest vacation destination, Risa, and you can show off your costume to win a piece of Star Trek Online history! This Tuesday, October 31st, Ambassador Kael will bring a special Twitch livestream to Risa at 3pm PT. Show up and enter into a costume contest to win an original boxed copy of Star Trek Online, autographed by the entire development team! The contest will be judged by STO’s Lead Character Artist Ian Castaneda, so make sure you show up looking your best. Times, places and rules are on the STO website!

2. The new Dranuur Colony fleet starbase’s next upgrade project has been unlocked: 'Colony Beatification: Glass Floor'. This is an even more feng shui project to add a glass floor and what appears to be an aquarium below it to the fleet starbase. See the STO website for details.

3. The ’Melting Pot' mission, released October 3rd, will be unlocking week 4 replay rewards. This will add the Inundated Shielding and Counter-Balanced Munitions sets along with the usual enhanced universal tech upgrade tokens or Specialisation Points. STO website has the details

4. A C-Store sale ending Monday, October 30th, is underway now, which includes a 20% Services discount, a 15% Lockbox Key discount and a 20-Key bundle pack which includes an Ultimate Tech Upgrade toke in every box. Act now for these bonus discounts!

GAME NEWS

Mkallah: Gaming of the character sheet and dice variety.

Friday night D&D- after getting flung 1200 years into the future to a timeline where it has all gone to hell in a handbasket and our characters did some things that we don’t know about, plus being told that we are going to be gods, we had a fun Halloween event. And, by fun I mean an in game version of Dead by Daylight where we fought Jason Voorhees and Mike Myers last game, and Freddy for the big finale this game. Damn, it was rough.

Wednesday night D&D- StormKing’s Thunder - We spent some time in the remains of a giant Giant feasting hall, investigated a magical statue of unknown origin, and fought giant spiders that decided that two of our party members were best encased in spider web.

Monday night- D&D- Investigated the city of Phandelver, met a very depressed cleric of Tymora, a retired adventurer who took an arrow to the knee, and started finding out just how messed up the Redbrand are!

Tetsemi:

Got my Priest, as Shadow, up to 110, through the class order hall and mount campaign (including Broken Shore) and now is on Argus on the get 6 followers to 900 iLvl. Started my druid through the Argus campaign as well, just working on the first area.

Raid burnout is a thing, we’re talking a two week hiatus from raiding due to real life and Blizzcon scheduling, so taking the time, in game, to get alts caught up and leveled.

I have a serious Unsullied token issue, worse than the Timeless Isle token issue. My Alliance alt has only 4 slots free, out of 104,...

1. The new Dranuur Colony fleet starbase’s first upgrade project has been unlocked: 'Colony Beatification: Planters'. This is a feng shui project to add plant life to beautify the staircases and hallways of the fleet starbase. See the STO website for details.

The new expansion is awesome, come play. We are also still doing monday fun nights at 9:30 pm EDT, where we do stuff like guild missions, and sometimes (actually once), we did some fractals. Come play. Path of Fire can be bought directly through arena net, or in game. comes with a level 80 boost so you can jump right into the new content.

And with that, let’s get back to Abovan and find out what’s going on in FFXIV.

GAME NEWS

Patch 4.1 dropped this week. New MSQ (Main Scenario Quest) content dealing with the aftermath of what happened in Ala Mhigo, and the interesting fate of Zenos.

There was also a new Hildebrand quest line.

Oh, and there might have been a mad scramble for the new housing area. Large plots in Shirogane were sold before most people were out of the login queue. Medium plots were gone in about 8 minutes after the servers opened. There was much gnashing of teeth and the usual pitchforks being readied, but the developers promise to open new wards soon, and to find a better way to dole out new housing that isn’t a battle royale.

Yoshi-P did announce that the housing shortage has been recognized, apologized for the shortage, and announced that there will be new wards (copies of housing zones with plots) available in all housing districts in 4.2, the next major content patch.

The guild managed to snag a medium plot, which actually isn’t as bad as we thought it would be. It’s in a very primo spot; on the beach itself; which is swimmable now, and adjacent to market boards and retainer bells. We have 3 floors of fun to come see, including a very popular water-closet apparently.

Other new things:

Your faction squad members can now go into dungeons with you! Limited dungeons available at this time.

New 24 man raids. This is in between WoW LFR and normal mode raiding in difficulty. This raid theme is based in Ivalace, from FF Tactics (the PS1 one)

New beast tribe dailies.

Royal Menagerie Extreme (end boss of Stormblood, but in a harder mode for loots)

Ventures, daily beast tribe faction tokens are all moved to the currency tab, so you get those inventory slots back.

New levels of the Hidden Canals added, Hidden Canals of Uznair, accessible from treasure maps.

Glamour/transmog is now level 15.

They also lifted the restriction on purchasing class boost books, so if you feel left behind and have the coin, have at it.

GAME NEWS

Tetsemi: So many alts, still have 9 of the 12 class order hall and mount story lines done, the remaining 3 (Priest, Monk, Demon Hunter) are parked at 102 for the moment while I get the other 9 through the Argus content. I have my main working on the Upgrade 6 followers to 950 item level, and 6 working on the Upgrade 6 followers to 925 item level. Still need to get my Shaman and Druid through the Argus campaign, although the Shaman is half-way through chapter 2 and feeling very very squishy.

Also have been playing the latest Minecraft version with the Hordling in Survival mode, me made it through the first couple of day/night cycles without starving and now are working on trying to find more resources. Finally found sheep before all the wolves in the area ate them, and got just enough wool for two beds so we can skip the night cycle when needed. Also the Hordling found a mob spawner that we managed to disable and secure the surrounding area. We’ll probably turn it into an exp/material farm shortly, but need to work on making a better route to get to it.

This week @AIESema, @MaxTheGrey and Astromech EPC-211 we head on down to spoiler town for some Umbara traitor talk.

Episode 211 is a really good listen if you’ve already been through the latest story beat, it is absolutely full of spoilers, but presents many different angles and interpretations of the story as well as a good discussion of what challenges Bioware faces with allowing players to make ‘hard decisions’ that will end up removing companions from the campaign.

Mandatory Fun Night is on the Republic side this week and the next expansion update is slated for October 10th. So, you’ll have to wait until then to see what the outcome of the latest chapter holds.

FFXIV

Patch 4.1, “The Legend Returns” will be coming out in early October, as soon as they are comfortable giving us an exact release day. Of course, the part we are all waiting for is the opening of the new residental area next to Kugane.

The producers have shared a few more details on how housing transfers will work once the new patch is live. Those with an existing home do NOT need to give up their homes beforehand as it has been in the past. Instead, you will be able to transfer your home to the new plot, wherever it may be, whatever size it may be, and still keep all your placed items that don’t allow pickup.

As a bonus, you will also be able to apply 30% of the purchase price of your old home to the price of the new home. We’ll have our new home buyers ready to go when the patch goes live to get the new AIE faction manor house.

Captain Cybyl’s Star Trek Online News Summary for week ending 9/17/2017:

1. Celebrating Star Trek’s 51st birthday, ZEFilms, the STO official video trailer producer, released a video tribute to the franchise. See ALL versions of the Enterprise in their awesome splendor from 1966 to the present. Visit the STO website for viewing.

2. With Season 14 launching October 18th, an additional backstory, 'Beyond the Nexus', has been posted on the STO website. This story provides yet another lead-in to the new season. 'The Next Generation’ and 'Deep Space 9' fans will enjoy this one as well.

3. A 'Beyond the Nexus' mission was concurrently released September 12th which will be unlocking unique weekly replay rewards over the next 3 weeks. Week 1 rewards are featuring tech upgrades and the first piece of a trilithium-laced weaponry set. STO website has the details.

4. Following centuries of conflict, the Lukari and Kentari peoples began efforts to reconcile differences and become partners in creating Dranuur Colony. Season 14 makes this colony available as a brand new fleet starbase to customise and upgrade. See the STO website for details.

5. Great news, captains! You no longer have to be intimidated by the over-powered Romulan Scimitar dreadnoughts! New Allied Flight Deck Cruisers have been released for ALL factions on the C-Store! These cruisers are easily the most powerful attack ships ever devised. The juicy details are posted on the website.
