Guildie of the Month - AIE would like to congratulate our Guildie of the Month for December: Thuggs of AIE WoW! For those of you who do not know, Thuggs coordinated an event in World of Warcraft that helped over 130 people obtain a special weapon from the final boss of Mists of Pandaria, Garrosh Hellscream. This weapon, called an Heirloom, levels with the player up to 100. It is also transferable to alts.

AIE's Guildie of the Month program is our way to acknowledge outstanding members in our community. If you know someone who you think deserves to be recognized please send an email to [email protected] (we are in the process of getting a new email set up, will update that as new arises). Nominations for January's GotM will be accepted until December 13th, 2014. This is a guild wide program, nominations will be accepted for members from any game division.

Regardless of whether you’re a fan of the franchise or not, it’s hard to deny the impact the Star Wars movies have had on the world. Last week, Lucasfilm announced the next movie in the series, Episode 7 The Force Awakens, will hit the screen on December 18th, 2015. They also published a teaser trailer, which spread across the Internet like wildfire.

AIE World of Warcraft

One of the coolest new feature of Warlords of Draenor is undoubtedly the Garrisons- and Thoribas on the forums was kind enough to post some great info from MMO Champion about highly useful ad-ons, Master Plan and Garrison Mission Manager.

Having issues with level up followers because as soon as one follower hit 100, all missions became level 99-100? Blizzard has hot fixed the mission set up to create three brackets 90-94, 95-99, and 100. Each bracket can have 3-6 missions as long as you have a follower in that bracket. Thanks to Miy on the forums for letting us know.

With membership spiking to 10 Million for World of Warcraft, AIE has seen a major influx of new and returning players thanks to Warlords- the WOW officers request your continued patience as we manage the queue.

AIE EVE Online

Lanctharus would like to remind all EVE players to sign up for Fleet-up. Fleet-up is the service they use to schedule corporation operations, which you can sync to your favorite desktop or mobile app, and give fleet commanders easy ways to prepare for and review missions, see what kinds of content the team can handle, see how they can improve, and more. If you’re playing EVE and not in Fleet-up, you are missing out on a lot.

And if you’re not playing EVE,CCP released a video last week that might draw you into it. The video is called “This is EVE”, and shows off some of the high points of the game. Shot entirely in game and voiced by actual players carrying out missions, it’s a pretty thrilling look at what goes on in the deep dark recesses of space. If you haven’t seen it, we’ll have a link in the show notes, and there’s a link to it in the AIE EVE forums.

We will have Max on next week to tell us more, but the all new expansion, Star Wars, The Old Republic: Shadows of Revan drops on December 9th- and your last chance to preorder for all of the goodies is Tomorrow! Bonuses include a Subscriber Exclusive Class XP bonus, as well as a grand statue of Revan for your Stronghold. There is a great discussion on the forums around what changes to expect with 3.0, particularly around the new commendation conversion and caps.

AIE General

First up, we want to give a shout-out to Mefe, who has published an album of Christmas music. There are five Christmas carols, each recorded in a different style using different instruments, and sung by some very talented kids. The album is called Light of Life, and you can find it on iTunes and Bandcamp. (Zod: I gave them a listen this afternoon, and they’re very good.)

If you’re a PlayStation 4 player, Syn started a thread in the community forums for everyone to post their PSN handle. Quite a few people have posted theirs, so jump in there and start gaming with AIE on your PS4

We are halfway through NaNoWriMo, the yearly challenge to write a 50-thousand--word novel in 30 days, and a number of AIE members are plugging right along on their books. If you’re taking the NaNoWriMo challenge, let us know, and if you finish your novel and want to offer it up for AIE members to read, send us a link!

Of course WoW is the big news this week, but they’re not the only game out there. There are hundreds of games, from big MMOs to Facebook games, to little mini mobile games, and AIE plays them all. To find people playing your favorite game, check out the Minor League Games subforum in the Community section of the forums.

AIE members are also all around the world, and the next best thing to playing games with AIE, is hanging out in real life. AIE has a page at Meetup.com where you, yes you, can arrange your own meetups with other AIE members. Whether it’s playing some board games, or grabbing a meal and a movie, or getting together at a major convention, Meetup.com is our real life Looking For Group!

AIE World of Warcraft

Major kudos to Thuggs the AIE hunter for taming Gara. Gara is a cool-looking spirit wolf that came out with Warlords of Draenor, and taming it is a lot more involved than just tossing it a few scooby snacks. There’s an epic quest line that takes you all over Draenor. It’s probably the most involved hunter beast taming in the game. So again, way to go Thuggs,

Thanks to Heirbuch for posting this reminder - Blizzard has stopped characters from earning rested experience until you log into them at least once, so if you have some lvl 90s parked someplace waiting their turn to go into the Dark Portal, be sure to log in on them at least once.

If you’re a little confused about Garrisons, and especially which remote outposts to choose, AIE member Miy posted a link to a “How to choose garrison outposts for leveling” guide. that walks you through all the choices for remote outposts and suggests which one you might want to pick, if your focus is on leveling.

And finally, if you didn’t know, Blizzard has removed the feature that awarded gold to guild banks when members are out questing and looting mobs. Because of this, we have no new gold flowing into our guild banks. We’ve always allowed our guild banks to be used to cover a certain amount of member’s repair bills each day, but with the increased expenses from everyone leveling, and with no gold coming in, we’ve decided to decrease the limit you can use for repairs each day, to try to make the gold stretch a little longer before it’s all gone.

AIE The Old Republic

Up for Ask a Star Wars guildie is our very own head honcho of SWTOR, Max! Find out just how many games this very busy guy plays, when he finds time to sleep and just what kind of pizza he thinks is the best! Plus, there is plenty time to ask your own question. AIE Lord of the Rings Online

AIE in LOTRO is planning a Thanksgiving feast, right now they are looking at the weekend before Thanksgiving, so take a look on the forums for the final day/time and head over to the Kinhouse for some fine food and partying.

Update 15, Gondor Aflame, dropped in early November, and included a new race/class, the Beorning, which lets you channel aspects of the bear as you fight alongside your allies: the strength of the Hide, the ferocity of the Claw, or the inspiration of the Roar. Build your wrath and decimate your foes with the new Beorning Class!

Final Fantasy has just announced that you can change your character name for $10.00. So, if you have decided that Dravic the Destroyer is no longer your cup of tea, you can get that name changed post haste!

AIE being the community that we are, we have a number of people taking the challenge. RattoZatto is holding a General Progression Night event tomorrow, November 3rd. Ratto is promising a “loot explosion”. There’s no level requirement, just show up and get some free Halloween loot. And if you don’t play The Secret World, it is a pay-once play-forever kind of game, and Steam has it on sale right now for $10 - but only until tomorrow, November 3rd. Depending on when you hear this, it might be too late, but we wanted to try to get the word out anyway. If you missed the sale, you might want to flag it on Steam so you’ll get notified the next time.

Speaking of great sales, Capt Hunter has announced that ARC is holding a Lifetime Subscription Sale for Star Trek Online. They’ve even dropped the price $100 from the last time they offered the sale. From now until November 20th, you can pick up a lifetime Gold subscription to STO for $199. That’s just over a year’s worth of monthly fees, and you get the game, and all the great Gold benefits, for life. Imagine if Blizzard had done that with World of Warcraft ten years ago...

Blizzard has announce that the upcoming deployment of Australian World of Warcraft game servers ahead of the games next expansion, Warlords of Draenor. This new infrastructure will support Australia and New Zealand and should provide a significant smoother gameplay experience for player in the region.

AIE: Lord of the Rings Online

The fall festival is up and running from October 21st  to November 2nd.

If you plan to spend any time in the new Haunted Burrow event, you may want to hold off buying a lot of items as there is a chance to earn them from the special chest inside the burrow freeing up your tokens to buy other goodies! AIE: Elder Scrolls Online

Due to a variety of factors, Grimbane and the AIE officers have made the very hard decision to shut down the guild in ESO.  The guild will be disbanded on November 7th. f you have things in the Guild Bank that are either yours or you feel you need get them out as soon as possible. Once the deadline passes all things still in the bank will more than likely be mailed to Grimbane and since he’s unsubbing more than likely that means they will go poof in 30 days beyond that point.

AIE: The Secret World with guest Ratto Zatto!

The Last Pagan is the most recent mission pack to be released.  Like the two previous mission pack DLC options, these missions expand on what you can do in the map or maps the missions are tied to.  The Last Pagan gives us a new NPC, Ricky Pagan, adds a mission from Inbeda and Daimon Kiyota, and now Harumi and Yuichi offer a pair of missions.  When players complete this mission set, they will get a free premium Deep Mystery Box, as well as a teleporter item that will take players straight to Tokyo, similar to the item that takes you to the hub in Agartha.

The patch that released the option to buy and play the missions in The Last Pagan also added some much desired tweaks to the AEGIS system.  Personally, they’re not quite what I personally want, but it seems it’s a compromise between what the team at Funcom wants the system to behave like, and what players are crying out for to make it more enjoyable.  You can now invest skill points to two categories for the AEGIS system.  One will increase the percent damage to the Shield done, making breaking those enemy shields easier to do.  There’s also a skill line that speeds up the active combat swap cooldown when you swap between types of AEGIS.  This also adds in that while you’re out of combat, you can freely swap which AEGIS is active, without inflicting a cooldown or the global ability lockout.

Update #10 is looming ever closer to the horizon, meaning a larger amount of content.  The Southern portion of the Kaiden Map will be added.  Unfortunately there is a delay that will cause the next Auxilliary weapon to not come out until a later patch.  I blame the Dragon and Templars for this.

The UI will gain a new option to recustomize all the elements on screen, without resorting to using a mod.

The return of the Golden Weekend came, and went, and with it came a brand new gilded outfit, as well as a second chance to get all the fun prizes from defeating “Blingzilla”.

As with last year, The Cat God event and Spooky Stories of Solomon Island will return for Halloween.  A new event will be added this year, starting with a familiar New Yorker!

It begins when players are contacted by Dave Screed, conspiracy theorist extraordinaire. For many years, Dave has been corresponding with a series of friends who listen to and track Number Stations around the world. But something has changed and the signals have shifted.

Now, the dead stand in silent rows listening to radio from an age gone by. Who or what is responsible for this broadcast?

All three Halloween events will all be tied together with a new loot setup for Halloween – a new Halloween grab bag where every item that drops can be traded with other players. The event is speculated to begin on the 28th.

WoW Up to 7.4 Million Subscribers

Blizzard released the subscribers count ahead of next month's earning call. This is up 600k from the Q2 2014 call that listed WoW at 6.8 million subscribers.

6.0.2 has dropped, and until the launch of Warlords of Draenor on November 13, players have a 100% chance to get their first Garrosh heirloom weapon in each difficulty (with the exception of Raid Finder) of Siege of Orgrimmar. If you have yet to claim an heirloom for your collection, here’s your chance. Once Warlords of Draenor goes live, these heirlooms will no longer be available, so get involved in the siege before it’s too late. Coming on the heels of AIE:SWTOR launching our Guild Flagships, Strongholds and engaging in some epic guild versus guild Conquest, BioWare has introduced the next game-changerTM and announced the Shadow of Revan Digital Expansion. Shadow of Revan will launch the first week in December. In order to prepare players for the new content and a level cap increase from 55 to 60, BioWare has enabled special perks for subscribers who have pre-ordered the $19.99 expansion. In addition to early access at launch, an experience bonus of 12x has been enabled for all class story missions. This has been heartily embraced by our guild and an altapalooza is in progress with new 55s popping up on a constant basis.

Star Trek Online had their second expansion since their launch, Delta Rising, on the 14th.

The level cap is raised to 60,

No new playable races, but there’s a wealth of new races to interact with.

New tier of ships is now available, along with the ship mastery system that goes with Tier 6, and Tier 5 Upgraded.

The space map got a display update, and two new space zones were added for the Delta Quadrant.

Five actors from Star Trek: Voyager came to reprise the roles of their respective characters.

Learn about a secretive force laying waste to a region of the Delta Quadrant.

Old allies and enemies of Voyager show up, as the consequences of interacting with that region of space make themselves apparent.

Fleet: We’re still plugging away at finishing up the Dilithium Mine. We need a big push to get Dilithium to complete Tier 3 in Development, which will make ultimately give us a Fleet Mark discount on all future Fleet Asset projects in the future. After that, we need to finally reach Tier 3 in Trade, which will give an ongoing discount in the amount of Dilithium needed in all future Fleet Asset projects.

There is a meetup planned for this upcoming weekend, October 17- The FFXIV officers will be hosting a mini company (guild) hall at the Rio Hotel for the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival. It is fun and easy to use to plan your next guild event!

WOW- Patch 6.0.2: The Iron Tide is scheduled to crash into Azeroth on Tuesday, October 14. With the patch comes the world event, Iron Horde Incursion, the new character models (but, you know, not Blood Elves or Pandas), inventory improvements, character and class changes, quality of life changes. Justice and Valor Points are no longer, but you will be receiving the equivalent of 47 silver per JP or VP in the mail.

Big Grats to Salus for unlocking the Reins of the Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent - Better Late than Never (Horkos, Monkcurious, Warlow, Tolgarr, Inorr, Jeratul, Nazari, Thuggs, Liskydruid, Malkontent, Snaf, Paavu) worked very hard to unlock this beautiful mount for Salus.

Huge Congratulations to Dignitas for opening up the Thundering Serpent Hatchling. You can pick this lovely pet up at revered at the guild vendor in Orgrimmar, but it is only available until the patch drops on Tuesday.

And thank you to the great AIE officers who have been working hard on swapping guildies around to be able to get this special mount and pet- especially Nevermore, Eagle, Mewkow, and Alachaas.

Thuggs has put a call out for ALL raiders with a toon geared 560+ and know the fight with the Garrosh Hellscream to help with the Heirloom-A-Thon. The idea is to help AIE members get as many Heirlooms as possible between the patch and Warlords. Sign up with your information on the forums.

Delta Rising - the Expansion is coming! This week, even. The expansion is available on Tuesday, October 14th! Delta Rising will take place in the Delta Quadrant, exploring the effects of the journey of U.S.S. Voyager through the region more than 30 years earlier. The AIE Guild Online Game a thon (or, AGOG) is quickly approaching! On October 4th, 2014, join guildies, podcast personalities and AIE officers for a one of a kind gaming event to help pay for our guild expenses like hosting, umami and the always popular Guild Hall at Blizzcon. There are a ton ways you can participate, including playing online games, advertising or buying a guest spot on the AGOG, or just donating (plus, swag!).

Not only is the AGOG next weekend, so is the Craft Faire- and COOP. Now, if you listened to last weeks show, you know all about the Craft Faire thanks to Sy and Vel, but Alachaas just announced that we will be rujning COOP on Saturday the 4th. Invites go out at 8:30 PM server time, be ready to hassle the Alliance, possibly get the achievement and the bear, and have an all around great time with one of the most chaotic AIE traditions.

Not be outdone final fantasy has decided to also make their playerbase a bit uncomfortable! Players who have logged in within the last two weeks are thrown into a drawing every monday by none other then Alludra! Winners are given a chance to answer random questions about themselves (if they so choose!) and get their choice of gardening pet!

Sad News- AIE Podcast will not be recording next Thursday- or any Thursday. EVER!!  The three of us have come to a consensus and are moving the show to Sunday- 5pm Pacific, 8 Eastern, because we would rather have Zod here then pretty much anything else!  So, come join us Sunday the 21st for our new day and time.

AIE: General

Durus has started a thread on the forums looking for AIE streamers. If you stream your gameplay and want to get the word out or are looking for AIE streams, head on over to the thread and give it a look!

AIE members are also looking for members of the community who own and are active on their playstation 4’s. Members who are looking to fill their friend list, and want some of that AIE community feeling can check the forums and post their PSN handles!

Not to be outdone or left out there’s a similar thread where members of the XBOX live community for the X Box one are swapping their info! It’s official guys, no matter what your platform, AIE is looking to hang out!!

Our head Stiggbot just posted an AIE Fund Drive to help offset some of our guild expenses, including the Mumble server,  the Meetup group, and the new infrastructure we implemented over the summer.  Information is available on the Guild home page.

And don’t forget, the AIE game a thon is running from noon to midnight eastern on October 4th- with Zod as our own master of ceremonies!  Ralff is just ironing out the details.  Keep your eyes on the main page- info should be there as soon as Saturday.  Join the fun and games with your favourite AIE members!

AIE: World of warcraft

Character name reclamation is going live! if you have a character you haven’t played since 2008 but are still attached to them, log in! Log in now!! Blizzard plans on releasing all the names of characters that haven’t been played in years to the general population with the next expansion. The only thing you have to do to save the name is log in. They don’t even make you jump around or clean the bank or any of that nonsense!

The Warcraft legendary cloak quest is going, going, soon to be gone! On november 13th all of the quests associated with the questline will be gone from your logs, and the quest chain will no longer be obtainable. To help adventurers on their journey, the black prince buff has been extended! So get to cracking!!

Warlords is also offering facial recustomization to the barber shop! If you were worried that you wouldn’t like your new face, or are nervous about the new skin color hues that your troll is now sporting worry not! The goblins have your back and will help you get as close to your old self as possible.

Blizzard has posted a much controversial ‘engineer’s workshop’ update to talk about the upcoming graphical changes in the warlords of draenor expansion. The outlined changes are being met with some...harsh reviews. But we still think that it is pretty cool that Blizzard is sharing some of the nuts and bolts about the upcoming engine changes to the game we all love.

AIE: Star Ware The Old Republic

Next up for the always popular, Ask a Star Wars guildie, is the cleverly named Major Debacle.  Personally, I just want to know where the name came from.

Also, Emperor Pelpatine announced today that they were able to  purchase the faction specific Stronghold for each side. That means the Imperial side now has a Guild Stronghold on Dromund Kaas and the Republic has a Stronghold on Coruscant.

AIE: Final Fantasy

The new patch is out and alludra got some things wrong! The latest patch offers personal housing, though in a way no one expected, and the houses are already all gone! The next step in your relic weapon quest, and other great quality of life fixes and tweaks. Alludra messed up and said that this patch would also offer marriage, but no, didn’t happen and she misread something. gah! Get it together Alludra! We are all pro here! Jeez!

Craft Faire Notes 

What:  

The Craft Faire is a guild wide event held twice a year in Silvermoon City in loving memory of Milliway.  This event brings the whole guild together for the singular purpose of helping out their fellow guild members.  We spend months gathering materials throughout Azeroth and stockpiling them until the weekend of the Craft Faire.  And what do we do with them?  We give them away to guildies to level up their professional skills.  So, if you’re a new or boosted 90 and haven’t bothered with professions yet, and you have an AIE guild tag, then join us at the Faire and level up Engineering or Tailoring or any other profession.  Maybe you’re only level 40 and just got fast ground riding and want to get your Mining maxed.  We can help with that too.  Remember, in order to level up at the Faire, you have to pre-register first!

When:

Saturday, October 4th from 4pm to 7pm EST/server time and Sunday, October 5th from 2pm to 5pm EST/server time in Silvermoon City.

Needs:

We still need volunteers to help out during this event.  One of the biggest things we’ve added at recent faires is the day of registration booth and taxi service.  If you’ve been to faires before, there is usually a line of people starting in SMC 30 minutes before the faire starts.  We want to get everyone through the process as quickly as possible, so Syreyne needs a helper to get everyone registered in. We also need some taxi drivers, so anyone that has a 2+ person mount, like the rocket or mammoth, please let us know!

Also, it takes an impressive amount of materials to mass level people like this.  We’re talking 4-6 full 6-tab guild banks of materials….per profession!!!   That means there are over 30 alts on Earthen Ring doing nothing but holding a guild bank for the Faire.  Every captain at the faire is on pins and needles waiting for 6.0 to drop the 200 stack change so we can condense the banks and free up some toon slots for volunteers.  Things that we desperately need are on a google doc that will be in the show notes and posted to the forums.  There’s a lot of stuff on there, like thousands of Cobalt Bars.  Stuff we still need

How would you like to receive a Sky Golem mount or a Vial of the Sands for 100 gold?  Or a new, hard to find pet?  Well that’s what is up for grabs in this faire’s raffle.  We have 6 Sky Golem mounts so far and 25 Royal Satchels!!!  And a ton of fun pets.  More prizes are being added all the time, so check out the wiki for an updated list!!!  Remember you can buy as many raffle tickets as you want.  Each ticket costs 100 gold.

Some of you may wonder what we do with the gold.  Well, a very small percentage is used to buy storage banks and last minute materials on the auction house.  The rest goes into prizes for the raffle.  Like vendor mats to make Sandstone Drakes, or buying 3-person mammoth’s in Dalaran.  The gold doesn’t go into the co-guilds’ banks nor do we keep it.  That means, the more tickets that are bought, the more prizes we can buy to give away.

COOP:

COOP aka Code Name: Creamy Orange Otter Pop aka For the Horde aka we go kill Alliance leaders for fun.  Oh yes, there will be COOP!!!!  The COOP run will be Saturday night after the faire, starting at 9pm server time.  Make sure you’re ready and waiting before hand as the main raid that gets credit for the mount and achievement fills up fast!  Remember, you don’t have to have PvP gear to attend!  And there’s always room in additional raids for support team members so its not limited to 40 people.  The more we have the more fun it is.

Costume Contest:

Since the Craft Faire is in October, what better way to celebrate Hallow’s End then having a costume contest!!  The Costume Contest starts on Sunday at 7pm EST/server time.  It will be during the after party.  Everyone can dress up in their favorite theme, person, idea, etc and show off their stuff.  This is NOT a transmog contest so tier sets and the Hallow's wands do NOT count.  Want an example?  Dress up as a farmer in blue overalls and a pitchfork or channel your inner pirate and don your Bloodsail Admiral gear.

There will be prizes given out for the winners in these categories!

AIE: World of Warcraft

Warlords of Draenor hits the shelf on Thursday, November 13th, just in time to celebrate World of Warcraft’s 10 year anniversary. So that we all have time to level and have fun, the in game anniversary event starts on November 21st and goes through January 6th! Everyone who logs in during this time period will receive the incredibly cuddly, feisty, and fiery new Molten Corgi to love, pet, and call their own, plus will have a chance to run 40 man Molten Core and PVP with Southshore vs. Tarren Mill.

The AIE WOW craft Faire is coming up October 4th and 5th, and along with the normal fun, we have a Hallow’s end costume contest! And we have prizes for all of the different catigories, including

The PTR has gone live with the 6.02 patch (pre-WoD content) it’s the mechanics patch. So increased bank space, toy box, changes to talents and glyphs, etc.

AIE: Final Fantasy

Final fantasy patch 2.38’s release date has been announced for September 15th! This patch is going to include personal housing, marriage, the next step in the relic weapons quest and other great things!

The live letter with the dev team has also stated that patch 2.4 will be launched around the Tokyo Game Show! We aren’t even sure what’s in this patch but holy moos

Those wandering Nomads are heading into Final Fantasy tomorrow night at 9pm EST, but but nothing says you can't stay later There is a 2 week trial if you don't think you want to buy the game, simply time your trial for our roam. The game is $25 and does have a monthly sub. If you do choose to buy, let us know here because there a refer a friend option and we can coordinate it with another guildie.
