Welcome to episode #236 of the the podcast celebrating the Alea Iacta Est gaming community, the die has ben podcast. This is Tetsemi (lost somewhere in the Tanann Jungle) and to my left is Mkallah - (There are chocolate fig cakes in the guild kitchen). The great summer nerd family reunion, Nerdtacular, is quickly approaching. The annual celebration of all things Frogpants is just under a month away. There are still a few tickets left, so if you have been thinking about going, but were waiting for the last minute- that time is now! AIE’s first airship, was built by AIE members. Pooling our resources together, we were able to christen our first Airship, Henry.

GAME NEWS

Heavensward expansion released for the general public on June 23rd. This include the Mac client.

OMG is this a big expansion pack!

New story quests that is about 40 hours to do there.

Zones are OMG big! Like pre-Cataclysm Barrens big.

Free Company Workshop, to build things as a FC.

Free Company airships to build, upgrade, maintain, and send out on missions for rare crafting materials for the FC.

Future updates will allow us to accompany the airship on its missions.

New class quests and class storylines.

New classes to boot!

DX11 for increased graphical fidelity. In normal speak, it made pretty game more pretty.

Flying mounts -

Get a flying mount (get one early in story quests)

Acquire the “winds” in each zone. Some are story quests, some are side quests, some are just locations in the zone that you just click on.

Some existing mounts will fly.

Get to make your own airship.

Raids - Alexender. Get to raid inside of a living castle -- When it’s released. They are giving 2 weeks to play the game without raiding available. In 2 weeks after that, savage raids will be available.

Patch 6.2 - Fury of Hellfire drops on Tuesday, June 23rd, bringing with it new Garrison missions in the form of the Shipyard, new upgradeable gear (level 5 and 6), purchasable gear with Apexis crystals, continuation of the Legendary Ring story/quest line, a new zone Taanan Jungle and a new raid Hellfire Citiadel. as well as Timewalking weekends, and so much more.

Announcing Knight of the Fallen Empire expansion (note, not on June 23rd, it’s October 27th, someone didn’t get the memo).

This expansion also raises the Level cap to 65, and includes the option to create a Level 60 character! This allows you to start fresh in Knights of the Fallen Empire and jump right into the new story content. They are delivering this story content in a way never before done in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Chapters. The first nine Chapters will be available at launch on October 27th, with new Chapters delivered regularly following that.

With the launch of Knights of the Fallen Empire, all of the original eight Class stories will be enhanced, allowing for a faster and more engaging playthrough for new and veteran players. Additionally, many of our existing Flashpoints and Operations are being scaled to 60+, giving you many more Elder Game options at Level 65.

A HUGE congratulations to two amazing members of our guild- Mathanug and Najara. Yesterday, Math was lucky enough to marry Naj, a wonderful person that I call my Steampunk Sis! Best of luck to the two of you, as you level in life together.

Guildie of the month- This month we had a bit of a departure from our normal procedures. Our guildie of the month is officially non other than Syreyne, the official herder of cats and mistress of the Craft Faire. Sy, being the great person that she is, originally declined the honor, since the craft faire is a huge collaboration, but was sweetly informed by Jehdai that there is no back plan, and she is the guildie of the month. Ironclawed, AIE’s own MIstress of Roleplay, recently ran a great event- RP LFR. The main goal was to fill an entire LFR with Roleplayers, since most groups look down at stopping the action of a quick LFR to let the Roleplayers have their fun. Thursday June 4th, a large group from Earthen Ring, including a large number of AIE members, ventured into Foundry for several hours. Keep an eye out in the RP section of the AIE: Azeroth forums for more information, or contact Iron on any of her many characters in game for more info.

TSW: The finale to the Tokyo content has arrived! I’ll invoke Gilligan’s Rule on some spoilers, while keeping some things a surprise. “Mounts” are now in The Secret World, as is 2 more tiers of movement speed. A new dungeon was added, the Board Room of the Orochi Tower. There is now an achievement vendor. When you have a total achievement point score of a certain number or higher, you unlock items from a vendor that exists in all 3 faction cities.

STO: A new feature episode was added, this one is pretty much the season premier to Season 10: The Iconian War. Duncan McNeil, and Lisa LoCicero are the latest additions to the voice acting cast from the Voyager crew (Lieutenant Tom Paris and Chief Engineer Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres/Paris). In addition, Aron Eisenberg will be joining to reprise his character’s Federation famous role as Nog.

In a recent interview with Polygon, Ion Hazzikostas dropped a bit of a bomb, stating that there will be No Flying in Warlords of Draynor. Patch 6.2 is forthcoming- and have gotten a small preview of what to expect, including

Pets Galore - new battle pets can be found in Tanaan Jungle- four of which are brand new and can be caught for the first time- the Bloodbeak, the Cerulean Moth, the Violet Firefly, and the Fen Crab. Plus, a quest for the cutest little Fel Pup ever and 15 fel- corrupted legendary pets! Once patch 6.2 opens, the Pet Battlemaster in your garrison will be able to get you started.

Bonus Events

The Bonus Events system consists of a rotating schedule of seven different activities, currently scheduled to run from Friday through Monday of each week. Each Bonus Event grants a passive bonus to a particular game activity and offers a once-per-event quest with a noteworthy reward for accomplishing a related goal. The in-game calendar (located in the upper right-hand corner of the mini-map) can serve as your one-stop reference for the event schedule. The Adventure Guide—discussed in detail below—will also offer a direct link to active Bonus Events, allowing you to easily accept any associated quests.

Timewalking, Draenor Dungeons, Battlegrounds, Arena Skirmishes, Apexis, and Pet Battles are the different types of Bonus Events

Timewalking will be available to characters who are level 71 and higher for Burning Crusade content, and level 81 and up for Wrath of the Lich King dungeons. It will open up only during certain three-day-long weekend holidays. While Timewalking, your power will be adjusted down to the level of the Heroic dungeon, but you’ll retain all of your skills and talents. We will also be testing additional rewards, such as a level 100 quest that rewards one Seal of Tempered Fate per weekend, so keep an eye on the in-game calendar.

A good challenge deserves a good reward, so to go along with scaling you down, we’re going through most every piece of loot in each Timewalker dungeon and scaling it up. That’s right, when you Timewalk through Utgarde Pinnacle, take down King Ymiron, and loot his Red Sword of Courage, it will scale up to an item level appropriate for use at your level.

The Personal Loot system offers several advantages to certain group types, but there are still several areas where we think we can make improvements. Our goals with Personal Loot going forward are threefold:

Make Personal Loot more consistent and rewarding.

Bring Personal Loot up to be competitive with Group Loot, so players who prefer Personal Loot receive rewards comparable to those you get from groups using Master Loot or Need/Greed.

Celebrate rewarding Personal Loot within the group in a way that captures the excitement of receiving rewards in Group Loot.

Secondary Stats -

Inside Hellfire Citadel, you’ll see a wider range of high and low secondary stat values on items than you have in a long time. Alongside some tuning adjustments that should ensure your attuned stats are the right choice, this change should also make it easier for you to identify which items are good for you in a more interesting way than just “equip the highest Item Level.”

Guild Wars 2 may have the best way to handle hackers!

A character controlled by a hacker who used exploits to dominate the game has been put to death in the virtual world.The character, called DarkSide, was stripped then forced to leap to their death from a high bridge. The death sentence was carried out after players gathered evidence about the trouble the hacker had caused. Many existing mounts can fly, such as chocobos, the fat chocobo, and new mounts will be available, including airships that can be personal airships, and Free Company (i.e. Guild) Airships that the FC create as a team.

We have a new Guildie of the Month! North Issier- AKA Razzy and Crokaa is a a beacon of what AIE/AIEU represent and stands for. From helping new members get settled and helping others when any questions they may have.North really shown himself to be a standup member of the community, has taken to exploration in EVE, and always jumps to help others out when they need it. Congrats, North, on being our guildie of the month.

Nominations for June’s GotM will be accepted until May 12th, 2015. This is a community wide program. Nominations will be accepted for members from any game division.

Last weekend was the Spring Craft faire- and by all accounts, over 60 guild members benefitted from the organizing, gathering, hair pulling, and general chaos that is AIE taking over Silvermoon City! Not to mention the COOP afterwards on Saturday, and the wrap up party/raffle give away that is happening right now at Gallywix’s place. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, the Craft Faire is a perfect example of what makes AIE great!

OH, and this just in- Tynchal, AIE’s self declared oldest member, has set up Geillis' Daily BBQ and Beer Company. (How's that for RP?) As a new member of AIE, (or any other AIE member for that matter), all you need to do is post a reply on the forums or drop Geillis a reservation request in the mail, and, she will arrange to come and get you wherever you are in Azeroth. She will portal you to Halfhill where she will hand you the ingredients you will need to begin Cooking without even making one single slice of Spiced Bread. Blah! Stuff tastes terrible anyhow! In no time at all, you will reach Cooking Level 525; and if you are at least Level 85, then we can get you to Cooking Level 600 and the title of Master Of The Ways! Tetsemi - SWTOR-

Just in time for May the fourth, the amazing race is coming! There will be a special event on May the Fourth to determine contestants and then start the race on Tuesday the Fifth at 9 p.m. server time, running for five weeks total. The focus will be on level 60 Republic non AIE guildies this time around. Pellel is looking for volunteers the nights of the race in the form of AIE guildies. Since this event will involve a lot of travel, level 60 toons are suggested. Keep an eye in game, on the forums, or as Pellel if you have any questions.

First, to my corpmates, and to the wider EVE Community

On April 8th, 2015, mistakes were made. For those of you who are unaware, this killmail is the unfortunate result. Kuda then made a rousing and eloquent post for BRAVE Collective on their subreddit as a caution to people: be careful when moving your stuff.

Killmails are simple things, and they are a favorite of Kuda Timberline’s, so much so that he advocated and spearheaded a segment on our podcast, The Kill of the Week. Killmails represent the harsh and cold reality of EVE; that with a simple misclick or a laxity in precaution: you can lose days, months, and years of effort in a heartbeat.

This is what happened to my friend. I privately asked him if there was anything we can do for him, and he graciously said no. He’s very clearly shaken by the whole affair, and he said in his Reddit post that he’ll be taking a break from industry for a little while to focus on fun things.

Mistakes Were Just Made

First, I had a statement written up about 30 minutes after work. I had a bunch of pictures linked to it and it was pretty awesome. Then I closed the EVE mail and the statement went away. So instead you're getting an even shorter CEO statement.

Less Than 24 Hours Ago

Late last night, after I had gone to bed, I received a frantic series of text messages from some conspirators that basically reenacted the death of Julius Ceasar. I'm sure you heard about it either through the BNI subreddit or through Alliance mails, but basically Lychton Kondur is no longer executor, and Manalek Askelus is taking his place.

My own views on this matter are somewhat mixed, and tentative. Lychton's announcement of a voluntary capitulation is good news for all parties involved, and things would have been way messier if he had not stepped down. I will continue to monitor and evaluate the new regime and reserve my judgments for the time, but I think this is a step in the right direction given the recent erratic behavior of our former alliance executor.

Additional good news is that this will have little impact on the day-to-day operations of AIEU, which are going full steam ahead. We're pretty much an island of sanity in a sea of utterly disorganized misfits, and I promise that the AIEU directorate will continue to have our act together way more than the alliance does.

The Brave and the Beautiful,

The last few weeks has seen an abundance of two things: news about Eve online, and space drama. Now is as good a time as any to talk about both. TEST and HONOR have left HERO, we’re removed a corp from the alliance, some recognizable names have changed alliances, others have their foot out the door, and we’ve moved staging systems. There have been countless instances of people throwing around buzzwords like “narrative”, “meta”, “game preserve”, and others. I can understand how people can see this and say DOOM AND GLOOM, but that is not the case at all. It’s time we remind ourselves of who we are and what we stand for.

Effective immediately HERO coalition is to prepare to deploy to DELVE/QUERIOUS. We will finalize logistical routes to safely, or at least safeishly, move to our staging systems. From this vantage point we are going to accomplish objectives that benefit everyone, buy performing random harassment operations amongst the pipelines used by either “side” when they are approaching timers. In addition, HERO is now offering temporary mercenary services on an individual timer basis during this deployment. We are pleased to announce that these services are available to all entities involved, with few restrictions. (For instance, we won’t attack catch, attack internal coalition members, or go to a region way out of our way, like the dronelands or whatever) We intend to fight and be a pain in the ass for everyone involved.

So, a teeny tiny trailer came out this week- not that anyone saw it, of course! So, while we all impatiently wait for December to roll around, it is the perfect time to play SWTOR with the AIE guild!

Per the always busy Arv- Yavin 4 is looking for a few good Imp side toons (16-24) to defeat the Ancient Threat. We'll be going April 22nd at 8:30 ET to complete this slightly complicated quest line. You'll get several achievements and at least 3 new legacy titles from completing this quest. We'll group up and start just outside the Outlaw's Den on Tatooine. If you're interested, post here and we'll get it done. No real requirements, just be able to get to Yavin 4 and preferably bring a level 60 toon.

AIEU POS (Player Owned Starbase) Empire

We have a POS Empire that is pretty much fully operational as of this Sunday. It’ll get us a modest amount of money every month, and I'm really glad it's finally (mostly) done.

In order to manage the empire that I’ve slowly built since-we-invaded-Catch, I told Stu to place less of an emphasis on trucking duties and more of an emphasis on moon goo maintenance

Fleet Up and Slack

Fleet up has some pretty amazing work going on. If you aren't on Fleet-up.com, do make it a point to get signed up. I’m going to be moving skill plans to there.

As for Slack, get on Slack. It’s where everyone talks to everyone else in AIEU, and you're probably going to be really bored if you aren't there.

Future

The future holds a few challenges for us. As a sov corporation, the sov changes come June are going to require a great deal of planning and execution. They place a really heavy emphasis on small groups and mobility, which is going to be ideal for what we can do, and to that end I’ll be keeping an eye on the changes and my immediate goals are to lock down the constellation we live in from outside intrusion.

FFXIV

WIth the upcoming June 23rd release of Heavensward, they have announced "specializing" in the expansion. From a recent Famitsu interview:

One of the new systems is the concept of Specialsts for crafter classes. Like before, it will still be possible to develop all of the crafter classes without limit to level 60. After you finish training, you'll be able to choose a profession to qualify as a Specialist which may provide a special action or special recipes. It will also be possible to choose multiple specializations. You will be able to switch but it will take some time. We want to narrow down people's focus so that rather than wanting to do everything, they instead want to focus on really working on refining just one class.

Craft Faire is quickly coming up, and there are tons of activities being planned around the event. Take a look on the forums, plan your own event, get involved in the shenanigans!

Aarde in the forums was awesome enough to post a link to an absolutely amazing mount planner. All you need to do is go to the website and put in your character name and realm. It takes a look at your armory and see's what mounts you do and don't have and creates a short guide on what to hit and how to do it so that you get the optimized routes for each dungeon/raid mount drops.

We may have brought this up before, but for anyone farming mounts from old raids and/or world bosses, this tool is invaluable. It will plot out the shortest route to each raid/world boss and break it up by continent/expansion area.

Update on Cooking from Tynchal

"We will have our Mage portal you from Silvermoon to Two Moons and then fly you to Halfhill to train your Cooking the Pandarian method all the way to Cooking Level 525 if you are lower than Level 85; and all the way to 600 if you are Level 85 or higher. And, for you Level 85+, beginning with this Faire you now will be able to level up all six of the Ways (instead of the previous one) and get the Master Of The Ways Achievement.

And, an added bonus for everyone who hasn't made it to Pandaria yet, while doing your Craft Faire cooking, even as a Level 10, you will pick up two important flight points, Halfhill and Two Moons, so when you do reach Level 85 and arrive in Honeydew Village, you will be able to fly to Halfhill to begin your gardening and do your banking in Two Moons instead of having to portal or hearth back to Org."

Spring Craft Faire CooP

Grimcow has put up more information around the upcoming COOP craft faire. Gather at 8pm server on April 25th at the Goblin Death Blimp in Orgrimmar. COOP heads out at 9! The plan is to form as many groups as needed, and of course priority in the primary group is given to those without the War Bear. And we do need as many people as possible to run support, as those nasty Allaince leaders and friends hit HARD. Level 100 is prefered, but not required- and no PVP gear is needed.

WoW Game Token

Coming soon to an Azeroth near you: the WoW Token, a new in-game item that allows players to simply and securely exchange gold and game time between each other.

Players will be able to purchase a WoW Token through the in-game Shop for real money, and then sell it on the Auction House for gold at the current market price. When a player buys a WoW Token from the Auction House for gold, the Token becomes Soulbound, and the player can then redeem it for 30 days of game time

When you put it up on the AH, you are guaranteed the price you list it at, even if the price decreases or increases, and when you buy one from the AH, you get it at the price listed at that time. Any difference in what it was listed at and sold at it taken by the AH.

Alludra: Star Trek Online

There will never been a better time to start playing Star Trek Online than during the Delta Recruitment event, which runs from April 2nd to May 21st. Characters made during this time will be Delta Recruits, and they will earn a host of new benefits and rewards to aid them in their leveling experience.

Delta Recruits are specifically designed to rapidly close the gap that exists between new characters and characters that have been in Star Trek Online for years. It’s the most new-player friendly the game has been in almost two years, and the perfect time to join the community of Star Trek Online.

AIE Events

Raiding. Our weekend group has defeated Twintania, completing the first binding coil of Bahamut. Other raid groups are starting up, so plenty of opportunities to see the end game content.

AIE online presence still increasing! It’s a great time to get in. No pre-expansion doldrums to be found. In fact, we are getting another content patch before the expansion. Still a ridiculous amount of content to do, either you are just starting, or have been playing since day 1.

To remember this great may and his many contributions to Star Trek and Geekdom, STO has set up two permanent in game memorials, not just honoring Mr Nimoy, but other Star Trek family members who have passed.

FFXIV-

Just announced at PAX East, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward finally has a release date- June 23rd. The crew from Final Fantasy will should be joining us next week, so we can get all of the details on the new content that we can expect this summer.

Hearthstone:

Just announced the newest Hearthstone expansion Black Rock Mountain will be available for pre-order on March 19-20th and launch in April.

Heroes of the Storm:

A new hero debuted at PAX East, Sylvanus. You know her, you love her, you will obey her in this life, or the next, it’s Sylvanus! She plays as either an assassin or a warrior, either way she will command your attention or you’ll find yourself dead on the floor back at your base.

Overwatch:

Beta is coming Fall 2015 and two new characters were announced. McCree, a gunslinging cowboy that echos right out of your favorite spaghetti western and Zyrya, a former world champion weight lifter turned hero. Yes she’s a tank, and yes she is Tetsemi’s new favorite character because, tank, and dose ‘guns. Seriously, really well done job on both, but extra praise on the non-typical body type.

For April 28th, which is our current tentative date for game update 3.2, we have a new system called the outfit designer. Stay tune for a blog of this awesome new feature coming soon!

A new story arc on the planet Ziost. This story arc takes us to the Imperial homeworld of Ziost, where we answer many of the questions posed by the cliffhanger at the end of Shadow of Revan.

It also have the end of PvP season four and the start of season five.

Beyond that, we would like to, this year, do a new stronghold. In addition to that also add a new playable race: the Togruta. I kind of let the cat out of the bag on this one last year that the New York cantina, but now it's in writing or on the interwebs via my voice.
