Just a head’s up for those of you looking to join AIE - our membership system, UMAMI, is currently down at the moment due to some unannounced changes at our hosting provider. This is also affecting our Jabber server, so our out-of-game Greenwall has taken the hit as well. Hang in there and we’re sure Stigguyver will have everything back up and working soon, using nothing more than duct tape, chicken wire, and some partially chewed bubble gum.

For you AIE World of Warcraft members who have put off the long grind to get your legendary cloak, like me, we’ve got good news! Starting a few days ago running until Monday June 30th, Blizzard will be applying the Gaze of the Black Prince buff, which will increase the reputation gain with the Black Prince by 100%, and greatly increase the chance of getting the sigils, runestones, and all those other annoying things when defeating his enemies. Big thanks to Ironclawed for posting that announcement, I guess I’ll finally try to finish that up.

In AIE Star Trek Online, Perfect World has leaked some of the details of their upcoming patch 9.5, which will include a new crafting system called Research and Development. As a bonus, the new R&D system will require fewer materials, so as not to take up so much bag space, and they will be adding more materials to different maps, so even if you go somewhere you’ve gone before, you just might find something new.

 

AIE: LOTRO

The hobbitses from AIE Lord of the Rings Online are looking for your help. They are still taking donations for their guild house, and will take anything, anything, that you care to offer. Extra junk taking up your bag space, leftover materials from your power crafting sessions, used coffee grounds, you name it. If you don’t need it, toss it in the guild chest and Bonroku will find some way of turning it into housing funds.

For those of you in AIE World of Warcraft, you might want to check your Battle.Net account and make sure you’ve selected all the beta options. Blizzard has launched the Alpha for the Warlords of Draenor expansion, and invites have been going out hot and heavy this week. Though blue posts admit that it is mostly blizzard community influencers that have been selected in the first wave. Don’t lose heart though! More invites are sure to hit soon, and to be honest you aren’t missing much, the game is super ALPHA right now.

 

Did you get your double valor? The double valor buff is still going strong until June 10th. In case you missed it, blizzard is rewarding double the valor for all the things! Such as dungeons, quests, boss kills, and turning in your timeless isle coins. Unfortunately they did not double the valor cap, which means that it’s simply faster than ever before to get your characters to cap.

 

Azeroth choppers is airing their final episode starting today June 5th, announcing the winner of the community vote for best motorcycle! The winning faction will get a free mount in game! Not sure what’s going to happen with the other bike, do they explode it? Anyone been watching?

 

Today is also the final day to change your blizzcon ticket info! So if you haven’t already, go! Make sure the info is correct! You don’t want to miss out on the fun!!

For the AIE Spreadsheets in Space gang, CCP has just launched the next expansion for EVE Online, called Kronos. It comes with updated ship models and graphics, new warp in and warp out animations, new ship animations, new sounds, and a whole lot more. Also, Vailgeek has announced a major mining operation to take place this Wednesday June 11th, at 1:30am server time. Which is like, who knows local time. Apparently there’s a glitch in the game, and undocking a spaceship keeps leading to it’s eventual explosion, so AIEU wants to keep the cupboards stocked, and you can help!

AIE The Secret World is happy to announce that Tokyo is finally here! Funcom released Issue #9, “The Black Signal” this week, which brings a new chapter to the game’s storyline, new AEGIS gear improvements, and the zone of Tokyo. No mention has been made of a possible giant lizard attack, but you know, it is The Secret World, so it’ll probably happen.

Guess what else updated! Final Fantasy demands to not be outdone by all this updating/beta/new episode fun, and has launched patch 2.28! If you want to see patch notes that put the other games to shame, and frankly, are crazy though, check them out! This patch makes many awesome quality of life changes such as buffing duty roulette rewards, fixing broken bits, and just plain making the menus easier to navigate.

For the AIE Star Trek Online gang, Perfect World has announced the grand prize of this year’s Riza Summer Event, which is going on right now. Players who complete the Event Reputation will earn the Riza Luxury Liner. This ship is even more customizable than last year’s Riza Corvette, and comes with a powerful weapon called the Soliton Wave Generator. The Summer Event looks like a lot of fun, and of course STO is free to play, so get out there and explore!

Tomorrow night, our...er...fearless leader will be flying around QETZ-W and while we all love Lanc, there has been a 100 MILLION ISK bounty put on his head. How can you not pass that up? A warning has been issued, that Lanc will most likely be shooting back. ;)

AIE Nomads

Thanks to Lotwook for sending us this update! They are finishing out their stay in STO with a Fleet Marks run. Which is running around earning Marks to help complete guild projects.  Saturday 9pm EDT. This Wednesday June 4th at 9pm EDT they are power leveling alts in Diablo 3. They are talking an average of 1 level per minute up to lvl 35-40 range. This is done via highest level of torment which gives 16 x XP and a level 70 in the group. (I know it sounds exploity, but is well within Blizzards design and after level 40 there is a steep slow down in XP gains as mobs become much slower to kill for the lvl 70).  Starting June 6th they start their roam into Guild Wars 2. (as a note? this is NOT free to play, but a buy-once and don’t have to sub game)

 

AIE Wildstar

A server has been chosen for Wildstar’s headstart this weekend! For those who will be playing said game as it launches, look for AIE on the Stormtalon - PVE server, Exile side! We will of course be having the director and one of his officers next week right here on the show, but the launch happens sooner than that! AIE is all about social gaming, whether we’re playing MMOs, boardgames around a table, console gaming, really anything!  And sometimes you might just want to sit and WATCH someone play a game that you know. Well Durus set up a thread here where if people are streaming, they can list who they are and a link to such!  Twitch seems to be rather quickly becoming the norm for these sorts of things, but there are all kinds of options!

Normally we don’t like to talk up too many Kickstarters because we don’t want this to just become a place people get sick of hearing about them, but making an exception for this one. SURELY most people in AIE have either watched Reading Rainbow, or have kids that did! LeVar Burton and company are bringing it back, and they need your help! According to the Quarter 1 Financial report, it is coming out early June (Pyramidian willing), as well as other interesting bits of information about how well The Secret World is (or isn’t) doing financially, and as far as content is concerned.  Also, additional Funcom work is revealed about the new Lego Game, and future tablet and smartphone apps.  Also, Japanese male and female school uniforms coming in The Secret World, kind of, sort of, more closer to otaku style.

Blizzard has published a number of “crash course” videos that give you a quick overview of one DPS specialization for each class in the game. Arveshet is looking to put together a 16-man HM Explosive Conflict group this Wednesday, May 28th, at 8:30 Eastern. It appears the Heroes of the Storm Alpha invites have been going out hot and heavy over the last couple of weeks. Wow busy time leading up to Summer but just because it’s getting close to vacation doesn’t mean we are taking a break.

 

Last month's Craft Faire went incredibly well.  Many thanks to Syrene and all her captains and lieutenants who helped put the whole thing on.

 

Speaking about AIE shenanigans, all hail Grimmcow who lead an epic four hour COOP run which completely and utterly decimated the Alliance.  I helped out to rally the troops and it always warms my heart to see such utter death and destruction.

 

By the way, if you are interested in running a COOP team DO EET!  Doo eet NAO!

Hey, AIE World of Warcraft members, are you going to BlizzCon? Were you lucky enough to get tickets yesterday? If not, you still have one more chance. The second and final round of tickets go on sale this weekend, Saturday May 10th, at 10pm Pacific. If fortune doesn’t smile on you, don’t fret, we are working on plans for this year’s AIE Town Hall. It’s still up in the air, so don’t buy any airline tickets yet, but if we do hold it again this year, it will be sooo worth going to. More news to follow in future broadcasts, so stay tuned.  Also, if you’re really into the art and design that goes into the game, you’re going to want to check out senior Art director Chris Robinson’s blog post from Tuesday, where he shows off one of the new zones they are working on for Warlords of Draenor, called Spires of Arak, and explains some of the technologies and hurdles that go into creating the world of Azeroth. It’s absolutely beautiful and fascinating. You can find the post in the World of Warcraft website, and we’ll have a link in our show notes.

From AIE in a galaxy far, far away, Kazrik posted a link to a Bioware article that came out yesterday with details on the upcoming Summer of SWTOR, due to launch on June 10th, and includes a casino, bonus rewards for PVP matches, an overhaul to the GroupFinder, and a far too many other treats to cover.  It sounds like the Force will definately be with you this summer.

AIE The Secret World member DottWarner will be running a PVP Achievement Farming events this weekend.. If you’re looking to gain some notches on your PVP belt, the runs will take place immediately following their normally scheduled raids, which are at Saturday at noon Pacific and Sunday at 10am Pacific, so the PVP event start times will be some point after then, and will include Stonehenge achievements if enough people show up, or Fight Club 10k player kills if not.

 

AIE:STO

The AIE Nomads gang will start their roam into AIE in Star Trek Online tomorrow, Friday May 9th. Capt Hunter and the rest of the AIE in STO gang are looking forward to greeting the wandering adventurers, and somehow have talked Perfect World into increasing the number of ship slots available to characters in order to celebrate. Ok, AIE probably had nothing to do with it, but it is true. Starting today, every character will have two extra ship slots available to them.

 

AIE: Nomads

And speaking of the AIE Nomads, the most recent minor league game vote has come to a close, and the winner, for the third time, is Marvel Heroes. So if you’re looking for a quick fun game to play with a bunch of AIE members, this is the one. However, the Nomads aren’t known for sitting still, and Lotwook has posted that the gang is also playing World of Tanks. Is that enough game for you yet?

Actually, no, that’s not enough. AIE is now branching into Wildstar, and we’re pleased to announce that Space Admiral Kav has been named Director of the AIE Wildstar expansion. No news yet on what Kav’s plans are for the guild, but when the royal decrees come down, we’ll be sure to bring them to you.

We start off this week with the grandaddy of AIE communities, AIE in World of Warcraft

It’s time once again for Children’s Week, that annual event that’s part of the Long Strange Journey achievement, well known for the number of highly annoying PVP actions you have to partake in. To help, DaboGyrl has re-posted her guide for knocking out the PVP events with as little stress as possible. If you still need to complete the Long Strange Journey, you’ll want to check out her tips. They’re in the AIE Azeroth forums under the title “The Dreaded Children’s Week”. And speaking of the forums, if you’re new to AIE and looking to get into raiding, or if you have a raid team looking to fill a few spots, don’t forget we have a section of the forums just for you. In the AIE Azerth forums you’ll find the Team Recriutment sub-forum, which will let you post yourself as a free agent, or post your raid team info, so prospective raiders can find you.

 

And now to spreadsheets in space with the AIE EVE crew. Due to all of the changes the AIE EVE gang has gone through, leaving TEST, Joining BRAVE, and now conquering the section of space known as Catch, the AIE Corporation is making some changes to streamline the pilot training and ship fitting process. They’ve reduced the number of fit recommendations, and changed the skill training plans to match. The changes are all in the wiki if you want to check them out.  And speaking of the wiki, Hoots has been working hard to rebuild the EVE wiki to make it easier to read and find information in. However, it’s a big job, and he’s asking for help double-checking everything. Anyone can edit the wiki, so if you see something missing or that could be explained better please jump right in and change it.

 

For you hobbitses in AIE in Lord of the Rings Online, the LOTRO 7th anniversary party started last Saturday, and it’s been so well received, that they decided to extend it. The anniversary event and all the goodies it contains will now run through May 6th. And in celebration of the 7th anniversary, the AIE LOTRO gang held a concert and played instruments in game, and apparently they’re pretty good. Lotwook says a wandering talent scout caught the act and the guild has been asked to play at a server-wide RP festival. No idea if that’s true or if Lotwook is just pulling our leg, but there you have it.

 

In a galaxy far far away with the AIE in Star Wars The Old Republic Just a reminder, there is a double XP weekend coming up, starting tomorrow, Friday May 2nd and running through Monday, May 5th. BioWare will also be giving everyone who has a SWTOR account on May 4th a free MT-4T Astromech droid mini-pet. (Looks kinda like an R2-D2) May the 4th be with you!

 

To celebrate the AIE Nomads crew jumping in with AIE in Star Trek Online, Captain Hunter is toying with the idea of holding a Mystery Star Trek 3000 event, where everyone will cue up the Nomad episode of The Original Series to the same point, start playing it at the same time, and then riff on it over vent. If you’ve ever seen MST3K or Riff Tracks, that’s what we’re talking about here. If you want to be a part of the fun, jump in his post in the forums.

 

For the AIE in Final Fintasy XIV gang,Abovan and Bonroku are starting a little side project they’re calling the Chocobo Stable Podcast. I think that’s an homage to another well known AIE podcast. They’ve posted episode 0,

AIE: World of Warcraft

Lots to talk about for the AIE World of Warcraft gang this week. First up, after months of preparation and planning, the Spring Craft Faire is finally here. The craft faire will be held this Saturday, April 26th, from 4pm to 7pm server time, and continued on Sunday, April 27th, from 2pm to 5pm, server time, so get your new and boosted characters to Silvermoon and crank up those skills.

 

As you heard here on this show last week, Syrene put out a challenge for people to send in full bags of materials in order to be entered in a mini-raffle for two Sky Golems, and the response was overwhelming. She had 110 full emails full of mats, plus tons of extra mats that didn’t meet the rules for the challenge, but were extremely awesome nonetheless. You guys rock. And we’re happy to announce the winners of the mini-raffle are Zerrakim and Nunemacher! Congrats you two! Please track down Syrene this weekend at the craft faire to collect your prizes. Thanks to Edelody and Cowpoeria for volunteering their virtual dice rolling skills to select the winners.

 

If you’d like to win a prize of your own, don’t forget the craft faire is also holding a huge Craft Faire Raffle. Tickets are 100 gold each, which you can send to Seriewa. [S-E-R-I-E-W-A]. Ticket sales end at 11pm server time tomorrow, Friday April 25th. Any gold that comes in after that point will be returned to sender. There are some rules and regulations for the raffle, which you can find in the AIE wiki, along with a list of all the current prizes, which includes six sky golem mounts, an X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME mount, around 50 rare companion pets, eleven 28-slot bags, and a lot more, and people are still donating items for the raffle, so you probably want to get in on this. And just to mention it, all gold received in ticket sales is used to purchase more prizes for the raffle and cover some of the in-game costs of running the craft faire. Nobody is making any money on this.

 

There will be also be a  COOP run on Saturday. Meet up at the death blimp in Orgrimmar at 8pm if you’d like to bring some love to the Alliance.

 

And of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that Blizzard has finally announced that there will be a Blizzcon this year. It will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on November 7th and 8th. Tickets will be on sale on May 7th and 10th for $200 a pop. Even at that price, they’re expected to sell out in seconds, so make sure you call in sick, tell your friends you’ll be busy, and be ready with some fast fingers.  The really good news is that this means there will also be an AIE Guild Hall. this year! We’re still working out the details, but even if you don’t win the lottery and get Blizzcon tickets, you’ll want to come anyway and spend two days hanging out with us in the Guild Hall across the street. It’s a total blast, and some say even more fun than Blizzcon itself. Stay tuned for more information.

AIE WOW: Welcoming The Sun Role Playing Event

It might be hard to remember that the AIE World of Warcraft guild is founded on a roleplaying server, but AIE member Ironclawed definitely remembers. She will be hosting a role playing event to celebrate the Spring Equinox. (Yes, the Spring Equinox was last month, but who’s counting?) The event will be held tomorrow, Friday April 18th, at 8pm server time, starting in Bloodhoof Village and will include a pilgrimage to Red Rocks for the celebration with a return to Bloodhoof for feasting and story telling.

AIE WOW: Spring Craft Faire Pet Battle Tournament and Transmog Contest

As if the AIE WoW Spring Craft Fair wasn’t a big enough event in itself, with all the skill leveling, raffle giveaways, and everything  else Syrene is going to fill us in on in a few minutes, Nevermore has just announced a Spring Craft Faire Pet Battle Tournament and a “My Battle Pet and Me” transmog contest. The event will be held on Sunday, April 27th, from 7pm to 9pm server time in the Crusader’s Coliseum at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown. The winner of the tournament will get to choose either a rascal-bot or darkmoon eye as their prize. You have to have at least three level 25 battle pets to play in the tournament, and you need to register in advance so they can get the brackets all set up. But if you don’t have three level 25 pets, or just want to show off your fashionista skills, there will be a transmog contest immediately following the tournament. To join, just choose your favorite companion pet and create the perfect transmog outfit to match. AIE General: Food, yum

This is also in the AIE Azeroth section of the forums, but it really applies to everyone, because who doesn’t like food, right? AIE member Moozedude has started a thread asking for everyone’s favorite eats, so if you have a recipe that you’d love to share, or are just looking for ideas for dinner, check it out. This is not the first time the AIE forums have been flooded with food, and it’s probably a good time to remind people that we actually have our own AIE Cookbook, full of great recipes submitted by the members of AIE, with custom artwork by the Gerpmeister himself. It’s in the Frogpants store for only $19.95, and all profits go to fund the various servers and services used the guild.

 

AIE LOTRO: April Events

For all you Hobbitses lovers out there, Dux has posted a few events coming up for AIE in LOTRO this month. Update 13 was launched earlier this week, and there will be 7th anniversary games coming out later this month, but to add to that, the AIE clan will be holding a PvMP tour of the Ettenmoors on the 19th, and a Kinship party with live music on the 26th. Dux didn’t post too many details, so if these events sound like fun, go track him down in game and find out more.

 

AIE STO: Double XP Weekend & Mining info

For the AIE Star Trek Online crew, Capt Hunter wants you to know that from now until Monday the 21st, STO will be holding a double XP weekend event. All missions and events will earn you double the experience, so if you’re still leveling up your captain, be sure to check it out. And if you’re looking for something to do, Capt Hunter also recommends digging into their private dilithium mine. You can grab a shuttle from their starbase to the mine, knock out your mining dailies,

As we mentioned last week, the World of Warcraft 6.0 patch notes have been released. These are in beta, and will undoubtedly change before the next expansion goes live, but Old Man Franks has started a spirited discussion in the forums, asking what people think of them. So if you have any thoughts, comments, or gripes, or just wanted to see what your fellow Azerothians are saying, check out his forum thread.

 

I know it sounds like we remind you about this every week, but don’t worry, there are only two weeks left for us to tell you that the AIE World of Warcraft 2014 Spring Craft Fair is about to happen. It’s almost time to get that new level 90 you boosted all skilled up. If you just joined AIE and don’t know what I’m talking about, go to the forums and read up up about the event on Syrene’s post. It’s probably our single largest in-game social gathering, and is something you just have to see.

 

It’s time once again for Ask a SWTOR Guildie. This time Maelchon is in the hot seat, so if there’s anything you ever wanted to know about him, now is the time to ask. So far Maelchon has answered who his favorite raid team member is, what color his light saber would be in real life, his favorite guilty pleasure, and more. To find out the answers, and ask your own questions, hit the forums.

 

Microsoft isn’t the only company to get a major reorganization. AIE EVE just announced a change to their corporation org chart. Several AIE members are taking on division head roles in different aspects of the game. (Game? Doesn’t sound like a game does it?) Hoots is in charge of Diplomacy, Lanctharus is heading up Military, Stu is handling Logistics, Kuda has taken on Manufacturing and Industry, and Orsalis is leading Recon and Intel. If you’re a spreadsheet spacer interested in helping in any of those divisions, contact those guys at once. Unless you’re a spai of course.

 

Also in the same universe, elections have started for seats on the Council of Stellar Management, which is the player-selected group of representatives that work with CCP to help make EVE a better game (Nope, still doesn’t sound like a game). Voting ends on April 22nd, and Hoots, Lanc, Stu, and Kuda have spent the last several months interviewing candidates for their Cap Stable podcast to help you make an informed decision. They have interviewed 28 of the 46 candidates, so they’ve really done their homework.

 

The AIE Nomads are finishing up their roam into SWTOR today. The tents are packed, the camels are loaded, and Lotwook has posted a nice thank you message to the AIE SWTOR community in the forums. Starting tomorrow, the Nomads will wander their way into LOTRO, so if you’ve been thinking about playing a hobbitses with a bunch of cool kids, now is your chance.

The Nomads have also posted that their next game will be Star Trek Online, and after that, they may head into Guild Wars 2. GW2 is the first pay-to-play game they’ve taken into consideration, and Lotwook is asking for thoughts about this on the forums.

 

Speaking of Guild Wars 2, NCSoft is offering the game on sale for 50% off. It’s $25 for the regular edition, and only $35 for the deluxe edition. The sale ends on April 13th, so if you want to pick it up and join the Nomads, now is the time to buy. They’ve also announced the April 2014 Feature Pack will be coming out on April 15th. This is the first release to to focus exclusively on in-game features, which includes their new megaserver system, a new wardrobing system, the removal of armor repair costs, and much more.
