Meetup.com group needs your help- if you are a member of our meetup group, you probably wondering what the message about being no organizer meant.  We had originally decided to close down the group since the usage didn’t appear to justify the cost of the group.After consideration, though, we decided to let our members have a say whether it should live on. We are now accepting optional dues of $10 per year.  There are no usage or subscription restrictions if you don’t contribute, but do ask that members who find the service useful to consider helping to fund it. Additionally, we have shortened the name from “Alea Iacta Est Gaming Community” to “Alea Iacta Est”, so it will be easier to find. And, our wonderful guildies already stepping up, we are already getting donations.  If you want to help out, please go to our meetup site and click member dues link on the left hand side. Are you coming to Dragoncon and want to hang out with some of the members of the finest guild around? AIE has a meet-up planned for at Joystick Game Bar in Atlanta in just one earth week, August 28th from 7-10. Also, the Final Fantasy Fan Festival is coming to Las Vegas on October 17 and we are planning a mini guild hall at the Rio Hotel.

The Nomads head into Smite tongith at 9:00 Eastern Standard Time, so once you are done here, head on over to hirezstudios.com to play. What is Smite? Well, it is a 1st person MOBA that has a traditional MMO feel to it, where you get to play any variety of mythological beings. Can’t play tonight? No worries, head on over to the Imperium Ludi section of the forums to see where the Nomads are drifting to next.

AIE Star Wars

The Amazing Race, Season two in Star Wars, the Old Republic starts September 2nd and runs every Tuesday through September 29th. You have until August 30th to sign up, which you will want to, as one million credits is on the line! To run in the race, you must be on a level 55 Republic toon and you need to have AIE mumble installed. The winner Reminder, again, Vent expires September 1st.

The AIE Fall Craft Faire has been announced- join AIE in Silvermoon City on October 4&5. There is lots of information on the wiki including leveling guilds, materials needed, and of course the history of this mainstay in the AIE calendar.

AIE Final Fantasy

Patch 2.xx launched yesterday and as usual, square outdid themselves on their patch notes! The patch comes with new content including a crafting faction, new foods so that you can dye your chocobo, and of course new pets!

Star trek online is also getting into the event fun! From now until thursday september 11th, max level characters can take on the crystalline entity earning new currency every 20 hours, of course there are new reputations and normal and elite versions of the event to participate in!

GAME NEWS - AIE EVE Online

Stu is a terrible person and skipping out because of some graduation party so I’m going to rudely jump into the podcast when I get home at about 6:25pm pacific time - Hoots Thanks, Hoots!

The last time someone from Eve was here Eve Fanfest had just wrapped up and we were starry-eyed from all the cool changes announced.

One of the main changes that came to Eve has been the new 6 week release cycle, instead of have big monolithic expansions twice a year. We have already had too pretty big release Kronos and now Crius. Crius, stirred up quite a bit of controversy, as it completely overhauled Industry

system(s).

I didn’t do much industry before the changes, but afterwards it definitely makes industry clearer and easy to do as a newer players. There is, still, of course the complexity just like anything in Eve, but on the surface, building stuff has change from “spreadsheet” like interface to more user friendly and easy to understand interface.

Blizzard has had quite the presence at Gamescom today, and we have a load of information! We have have an animated mini series coming up- Lords of War, to fill us in on the backstory and history of some of the Iron Horde. We have a cinematic that is out of this world - or at least Azeroth. And, most importantly, we have a release date for Warlords of Draenor. Mark your calendars - we are looking at November 13, 2014 for the Dark Portal to open- again!

And since we have a release date for Warlords, the crazy cat corralors (is that a word) in charge of the Craft Faire are in full swing in planning mode! Ok cupcakes, our old pal Ghomus wants to let you know about this great addon that his partner Muhley created. It’s called Peephole. No, it’s not what you think, unfortunately, it’s an addon that will create a hovering text sign over your teleporter at your house that will tell you where it will take you. Great for jumping back onto an alt you haven’t played in a while if you’ve forgotten where you are in the game.

This message just arrived via camel delivery from the AIE Nomads: You may have noticed the Nomads have been taking it easy over the summer months but we're preparing to ramp things up again. Weekly games are in full effect, Yesterday we played some Firefall. Next Thursday August 21 we play Smite. We encourage people to play through the tutorial before showing up so we can hop right into the action as a group. Starting September 12th we hop into Final Fantasy. People are reminded the game offers a two week trial which could conveniently be used during our visit.

New 14 Day Trial

Capped at level 20, can not join Free Companies (Guilds), but can join linkshells (Chat channels).

We have an AIE linkshell for folks on the trial. Hop in Jabber, to ask for an invite, or catch one of the officers in Mumble, some other AIE game, Steam, Twitter, Forums, etc.

New Refer-a-friend rewards

Thinking of spending money? You can get referred in for more rewards!

Sub for 30 days?

Both recruiter and recruitee gets a friendship circlet, which increases experience by 20% when you are under level 25 on that class.

The recruiter also gets an “Aetheryte Pendulum” which will allow you to teleport to the nearest Aetheryte (town with a teleport crystal) on your friend’s list with “New Adventurer” status. Does not have to be the one you recruited.

After 90 days of paid time, the recruiter gets a “Draught Chocobo Whistle” which summons a 2-person chocobo mount with a unique barding.

AIE: World of Warcraft

World of warcraft is having their 10th birthday, and this year we are the ones getting the presents, and they are all vanilla wow themed! There’s going to be a new battleground that is tarren mill vs. Southshore! Not big on the pvp scene? Well what about 40 man raids? Molten core is getting all sorts of tweaks for a new LFR version. Still don’t like that? Well then PETS!! yes! Molten corgi’s for all who log in during the birthday festivities!! Huzzah!!

Blizzard is also releasing their Warlords of Draenor cinematic and announcing the release date of the next warcraft expansion on August 14th! Don’t know about your guy’s in game gossip but our raid team had the date for this waaay wrong.

Do you guys remember azeroth choppers? Of course you do, well it seems the alliance bike is also making its way into azeroth via the in game! So if you alliance members are feeling left out, they have reworked the design a bit and it will be for sale in game sometime after the next expansion launches. Rumor has it this gold sink will be around the neighborhood of 100k.

AIE: Star Trek Online

At the Star Trek Las Vegas convention, the developers gave announcements for what's on the horizon! Cryptic has announced the Delta Rising expansion will be coming out in October, and it will include a ton of changes. The level cap will go to 60, new methods of advancement via specialization trees, many new races to encounter, and a whole lot more.

One of the great new benefits of our guild house in final fantasy is the gardens. Three tiny plots which we all as members expect big things from. And though we have a gardening committee that handles all of the heavy lifting (and harvesting) we need help from the rest of the guild to make sure that all our crops are spectacular. How can you help? Well we have jobs for everyone, no matter what your professions to help us get the awesome seeds that we all want! This Sunday (AUG 10), AIE Wildstar is Co-guilding. Everyone will be removed from "Alea Iacta Est." After everyone is removed, members can join the AIELFO channel to ask for an invite. It is important that they have an application in UMAMI for the character that is joining and that they have Stigg's wsGreenwall addon installed (which can be found on curse). The two new guilds are called Alea Iacta Est Jariel and Alea Iacta Est Vorion. Also for all the altoholics, our 1 alt rule is no longer in effect, feel free to bring them all in."

GAME NEWS

Last week was Remembrance Week and we ran a few events. Last Tuesday night we had Pilgrims and Pancakes, which was a Nightmare Pilgrim Boss kill, which sadly we didn’t have enough for, so we moved to the Pancakes event. That is an event that has guildies travel to Hoth and find a specific ice bridge, and I am at the bottom of the canyon. Guildies then jump off the bridge and whomever landed closest to me won. We also awarded prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, plus a prize for best overall jump.

Wednesday night, Arveshet ran a Running of the Beefcakes, which involves everyone running a race around Tatooine naked. After that, we made our way to grab a couple hard to get Datacrons, and finished it off with a jump into the Sarlaac Pit for an easy title of Worm Food, and to be digested for 1000 years, or when you decide to release, whichever comes first.

Finally, Max stepped in for me for the Remembrance Day Walk on Saturday, as I was otherwise engaged with an epic canoe trip of massive proportions. We have that on Alderaan at the same time as the other walks, and I understand it went well.

We also had The Gree return after an 8 month or so absence and we used some of that time to knock out the world bosses that returned with them.

Happening now:

We still have a LoL and SUP running ops, but SUP seems to always need someone on the fly. If you think you want to step in for some ops, feel free to get ahold of Arveshet. He would love to have extra bodies. We also have a new Ops team called Soldiers of Light, or SoL, that seems to be doing very well.

Tuesday nights are our Mandatory Fun Nights ( a title which we had waaaaay before Weird Al’s recent album) where anyone 50+ can join us for shenanigans. We have been trying to rotate this between the Republic side and the Imperial side every other week.

Friday nights we also have open FP runs for lowbies and alts. If you want to get some good leveling in, I certainly recommend this. My Jedi Councillor is 42 by primarily doing these FP runs and my class story. It is a good, casual way to level.

Finally, the Rakghoul event is back this week. Think space zombies. Players are able to get infected and in turn, infect other people upon death. Plus, there are dailies that go with the event to build rep to purchase cool items, like Zombie versions of various companions, which is the only reason why I run it. Zombie Treek looks awesome. There is also a world boss that comes with the event called The Eyeless, which we schooled in Story Mode a few times Tuesday night on both sides.

Upcoming news:

We have a couple big things happening on the horizon. The biggest thing is the addition of personal housing in the form of Strongholds. On top of a personal Stronghold, we can also get them for the guild itself. And on top of that, we will be getting Guild Ships. These things are currently on the PTS and I have only dipped my foot in just a little bit. But it looks very very exciting. Of course, these things are going to be pricey. Currently, the Officer corp are discussing the best way to raise funds for these purchases. I expect by the time we are on the next podcast, we will have more info on this addition.

The other big event we have is the return of The Amazing Race: SWTOR Edition Season 2. This time around the race is open to guildies level 55 and we will be doing it on the Republic side. The event starts Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:00 p.m. EDT and runs every Tuesday night for the rest of the month. This will be 5 total legs, with individual winners each night and with the overall winner getting 1 million credits at the end of the race. If you have a Republic toon that needs leveling, you have one month to get to 55, and you MUST sign up for the race no later than Saturday August 30th to run the following Tuesday. We had a lot of fun last time, and we are really looking forward to this season.

Depending on the success of this race, I would like to do one for our server by the end of the year, hosted by AIE and it’s members, and open to all who sign up. This will be a larger scale undertaking and will require more than just our SWTOR Officers to run it. We will definitely want volunteers within the community to help out.

I want to give a big shout out to my Officers: Max, Sema, Wags, Machia, and Apolas for keeping the ship straight the past few months with my inactivity in game due to my recent move back to Kalamazoo. These guys are solid Officers and we certainly couldn’t do half of what we do without them.

Also, a small plug of The SWTOR Escape Pod Cast. Max and Sema are definitely carving a nice niche in the SWTOR galactic podcasting community. They recently were part of a community podcast that included SWTOR podcasters from all over, such as Ootinicast, SWTOR Reforged, and SWTOR Unnamed Podcast. I highly recommend giving them a listen for more SWTOR and guild related related content.

AIE’s ventrillo server has a deadline! Have you noticed that vent has been a ghost town lately? Well we have recently started the great migration over to mumble! The ventrillo server, sadly, is going down in september, so make sure you install mumble and move your chats over! Worried about your log in? Well don’t! Your UMAMI credentials are your mumble credentials!

World of Warcraft

A post on twitter has confirmed that model updates for the blood elves will not be available for the launch of Warlords of Draenor. No news when the patch including their updated models will hit, but we don’t imagine the horde’s fairest race will have to wait too long. This is the only race that will be patched in later fortunately, which is pretty good since blizzard announced early on that not every race would be updated for the launch.

Beta news!! Have you seen all the fantastic pets added to the beta?? (yes alludra wrote this!) well they are the bringers of big news, it seems blizzard is revamping the holidays! You know, those events in game where sudden wreaths appear and you are supposed to do things that have grown stale? Well the beta is pointing to new events, with new prizes, and yes, new pets! Yay!!

This weekend- the valor buff is back in Wow- starting tomorrow and going through Sunday.

Final Fantasy

Recruit a friend has hit Eorzea! If you have a friend tentative about trying out Final Fantasy 14, now’s your chance to get them in the game, with a bonus to you! Simply send them a message through the mog station to earn rewards when they pay for their first month of game time. What kind of rewards? How about a new hat that helps boost leveling (until level 25) or a multi passenger mount!

The Secret World

The secret world folks are finally throwing off the shackles of Pyramidion making them redact everything and are planning and august 8th raid on New York city. If you are looking to sign up, the forums are the place to be! Priority will be given to AIE members, but raid slots will also be open to out of guild members, so sign up fast and reserve your spot!

Lord of the Rings Online

Saturday August 2nd, a very busy day it seems, is also the day Lord of the Rings will be holding their own remembrance day festivities. Be in the game at the prancing pony at 8pm eastern, with mumble already configured.

Vanflicke has also pointed out via the forums that there is housing available in the kin’s neighborhood. If you have been holding out on getting some middle earth real estate because you didn’t want to be that far from the guild, now is your chance to jump in.

EVE Online

The crazy guys in AIE Deep space have also decided join in the remembrance day events. Log in on Saturday August 2nd 7:00pm EDT, 4:00pm PDT, remember don’t bring anything you can’t afford to lose.

Before we talk about Summer of Love, did you guys know that we created an editorial staff for the AIE Gaming Community’s website?  The staff was set up to review articles before publishing.  This affects you because we opened the doors for the community to submit articles!  We announced this over a month ago, and guess what?  We have NOT gotten a single article submitted from anyone outside of the officership.  We want you guys to send us articles!  We want to hear what you have to say!  All the information on how to submit an article is posted on the AIE wiki.  You can also send us an email at [email protected].

What is Summer of Love:

Summer of Love is a week long series of festivities that grew out of what is probably AIE’s most important guild event.  If fact, this event is so important to the AIE community that it is celebrated across almost every game division that AIE is in.  This event is, of course, our Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Day is a permanent guild holiday, but it wasn’t just a random event that AIE started.  Unfortunately, it began with the death of one of our core members.  Someone that was such a fan of AIE.  Someone that knew us inside and out.  Someone that brought fun and kindness, friends and respect.  Someone that was the epitome of what it means to be AIE.  Someone that was such a great person that he is still remembered and honored today.  This person was Bruce Galloway, otherwise known as Milliway.  We lost Bruce on August 2, 2007, and for those that were in AIE at the time, they gathered together and held a vigil in game for him out of love and respect.  This vigil soon became a time honored tradition with the AIE Community.  Every year, on the anniversary of Bruce’s passing, we gather in our respectful games.  We gather together in voice chat.  And we honor his memory and the memory of every player that has been taken away from us much too soon.

Remembrance Day is a time for honor, respect, sorrow, and love.  And, this is the basis for became our Summer of Love events.  They are events held to bring the community together.  They are for fun and to build friendships.  They are exactly the kind of events Bruce would be running if he could.

I’m going to give you a rundown of the events that have already happened and the ones that are coming up in World of Warcraft.  These are guild wide events that everyone in AIE is welcome to attend.  The first event was a Meet and Greet on Monday night.  And since Nevermore is here tonight and she hosted the event, I’m going to let her tell you all about it.

Event Updates:

Monday: (Nevermore) Meet and Greet:

The “Meet & Greet in Mumble” was a HUGE success! Everyone met up outside of Silvermoon City.  Over 50+ guildies attended the event which helped promote the use of AIE’s new Mumble server! I had planned games and trivia for the event, but it instantly evolved into something greated. Guild members took turns sharing stories about who they were, how that came to AIE, etc.  Also, Scott rolled 1,000 for blame for everyone joining and staying in AIE, or at least that’s the story everyone is going with. I’d especially like to thank Syreyne - for helping with invites and promoting right before the event, Rho - for being a friendly neighborhood warlock and assisting with summons, and Allanya for keeping me from having mental breakdowns! :)

Tuesday: Story Time RP:

“As part of AIE's "Summer of Love" series, we 'invaded' (with permission) Story Night, hosted by Shaw.  Now, this is a roleplaying event that has existed on Earthen Ring for going on SEVEN years now, every Tuesday Night at 8pm, though locations vary.  This week we were out at Revantusk Village in the Hinterlands.  There were over fifty total attendees, with AIE making up at least twenty-five to thirty of them.

Our own Papagede (AKA Moorlu) even told us an entertaining tale of being a chef on a pirate ship, serving up some Jinyu sushi!  (Don't worry, he actually helped the jinyu escape and served regular fish instead.)  That's just a small sampling of what Story Night has to offer, though, so we invite you out every Tuesday to join in the fun!  You don't have to be a roleplayer to attend, you just have to enjoy listening to a good story or two... or twenty!”

Wednesday: Karazhan Run:

We had about 40 people show up for the run.  Everyone stripped off all their gear and weapons and decided to take on the bosses of Karazhan with their bare fists.  We equipped gear as we found, whether it was dusty and gray or epic and covered in ghostly blood.  We divided up into 9 different teams.  The team made up of Natvilcius, Ysaw, Lothria, and Loocivar finished the whole raid first.  The team of Jaricko, Tankibubblz, Minch, Vakkara averaged the highest ilvl.  And the person with the overall highest ilvl was Lothria at 86.

Listening to 9 different raid groups in one Mumble channel was hilarious.  Special thanks to Nevermore, Jaricko, and Grimcow for helping out!

AIE: World of Warcraft

It’s time once again for AIE’s yearly Summer of Love event. This is where AIE holds a number of events across a number of our games just to show how much we love each other. Of course, being the grandaddy of the AIE games, the World of Warcraft gang has quite a few events planned. There will be a Story Night Invasion on Tuesday, July 29th; a COOP run on Thursday, July 31st; a Running of the Beef on Friday, August 1st;  a pet battle and transmog contest on Sunday August 3rd, and most importantly, the AIE Remembrance ceremony will be on Saturday, August 2nd. If you want to learn more about these cornerstone events in the AIE world, we’ve got links in the show notes, or of course, go to the forums.

World of warcraft also has released the newest art craft! This round is focusing on the female tauren models! So if you are a female tauren and want to see the amazing upgrades head on over to the warcraft main page.

Also, the iron skyreaver mount is 40% off this week! The sale ends on June 29th, so if you wanted a two headed dragon but didn’t want to shell out the entire $15 for it, then now’s the time to jump on it.

And this JUST IN- the Horde Chopper is coming! Log in anytime between now and September 30 to get your account flagged to receive the new mount upon the launch of Warlord of Draenor.

Also joining in on the Summer of Love, the gang from AIE in Star Wars the Old Republic will be holding a Pilgrims and Pancakes event on Tuesday, July 29th. This is a combination of an easy Nightmare Pilgrim kill, followed by jumping off of an ice bridge on Hoth, turning yourself into pancakes at the bottom. (Pilgrims and pancakes, get it?)

No strangers to secret ceremonies, there is a rumor going around that AIE in The Secret World will be holding an event of their own at the church in Kingsmouth on Wednesday, July 30th. to be followed with some lair runs on Solomon Island

AIE: Final Fantasy

AIE in Final fantasy will be holding a Remembrance Day event, with a walking procession starting from the Sanctum of the Twelve heading to the guild house, where there will be a special dedication.

This is probably a good time to mention that after much effort, the FF gang finally got their house. (Yay!) Ward 4 plot 6 in gradania, on of course the gilgimesh server. Our massive mansion is already filling with furniture as we speak thanks to the efforts being coordinated by lil’phist and anyone who can craft. Private rooms are avaialble for purchase, but remember they are 300 thousand gil each, and you need to be a certin level with your grand company.

AIE: Wildstar

And finally, those cupcakes from AIE in Wildstar are really getting gears in motion. If you haven’t yet, be sure to post about your self in the introductory thread on the forums. There’s also a raid team forming up looking for more, and we’re extremely happy to announce that the gang have started up a podcast called The Wildstar Port. It’s definately a podcast!

Previously, on Star Trek Online:  With tension rising among the Voth, Romulan Republic, Klingon Empire, and Federation, a surprise attack is launched against the planet Sol 3, and Qo’noS.  It’s revealed that Species 8472, “The Undine” are finally striking against the major powers in the Alpha Quadrant, to ensure their Iconian allies can not be resisted.  Banding together, the Federation, Klingon Empire, and their joint allied Romulan Republic repel the attackers, and foil the plot.  In a moment of allied friendship, the United Federation and Klingon Defense Force declare a new alliance!  Unfortunately, not wanting to tolerate a possible unified force, an Iconian appears, slaughtering many representatives out-of-hand, and leveling a deadly warning.  Do not stand up against the Iconians, to do so is to seek death.

Risa Summer event!  All the prizes, what to look for next year!

Season 9.5 is live!  Explaining the new crafting system, Dilithium rewards for battle zones, Exploration nebulae change, Doff system UI change.  Also, Oddessey style uniforms seem to be the current canon standard uniform.  Everyone gets the standard version, unlock the tactical and dress uniform versions in the fleet starbase tailor.  If you’ve already bought previous uniform unlocks there, they will be free.

AIE: Community

They were missed at Nerdtacular this year, but Renee and JJ, otherwise known as Iceflow and Caoboi had other plans around the 4th. Just a few days ago, their family size doubled with TWIN GIRLS. Zoe Lane at 5lb 13oz and Maya Jade at 5lb 4oz. Welcome both of you to the AIE Family, and all the best to JJ and Renee from us here at the AIE Podcast.

 

Speaking of Nerdtacular, we wanted to give DogHouse Systems a big shout out for sponsoring the event. Just a reminder, which we’ll probably repeat every other week or so for the next month and a half, AIE is moving over to our new Mumble server. Our Ventrillo server will be shut down on September 1st, so you have about seven weeks left to get all set up. That sounds like plenty of time, and it is, but better to work out any bugs now. All the Mumble information is in the community section of the AIE forums, and we’ll have a link in the show notes.

 

AIE: Elder Scrolls Online

For you Elder Scrolls players who have been feeling like the 50+ content seems a little too hard, you are not crazy. Bethesda recently announced that they intentionally tuned the game to encourage grouping at the Veteran levels, but they’ve heard the complaints and have already begun re-tooling the game to make the 50+ experience more like the 1-50 game.

 

AIE: The Secret World

For those of you in on the big Secret, Rattozatto wants to alert you about the hotfix that FunCom released yesterday for The Secret World. He says it has some pretty meaningful changes. I’ve seen the patch notes, but since I’m one of the uninitiated, they just look like squiggly lines written in the sand to me. But if you can crack the code, take a look at what’s changed to see how it affects your game.

 

AIE: Final Fantasy

The AIE in Final Fantasy gang is looking for input from all your FF players. As you know, they’ve been working towards buying the largest house possible in the game, because AIE is just that awesome, but there’s been some discussions that it’s taking too long, and they are wondering if you would rather buy a more modest house now instead of letting the fund raising drag on. If you have any thoughts on this, Abovan has posted a poll in the Final Fantasy forums, and there’s quite a bit of discussion going on in that thread, so head on over and jump into the fray.

 

AIE: Guild Wars 2

Believe it or not, we actually have some Guild Wars news this week. NCSoft has announced that Season Two Episode Two, called “Entanglement” will launch on July 15th, and according to Velinos, if you log in before then, you will get the update for free! And who doesn’t like free DLCs right?

 

AIE: 200

As you must know if you’re listening to this show, Nerdtacular 2014 is happening this weekend, and while unfortunately none of us could make it this year, a whole lot of the AIE community is going to be there. If you’re one of them, StupidGenious is arranging an AIE community group picture tomorrow, Friday July 4th, at 2:30pm, outside the front lobby across from the valet, so make sure you’re there. The AIE EVE gang is also holding a meetup tonight at 7:30 at the El Chanate Restaurant, so if you’re at Nerdtacular and watching us record this live, you have just enough time to make it there after the end of the show.  If you’re listening to this show in it’s podcast form, then you’re too late, but you are  probably a spai anyway, so that’s ok. And if you’re like us, and unable to attend Nerdtacular in person, you’re going to want to join in on the live stream. Last week we announced that testing had begun on our new Mumble server. This week we’re happy to announce the testing is complete, and the new Mumble server is now officially official! If you’ve been using our Ventrillo server for all of your AIE grouping, raiding, or just plain old chatting needs, it’s time to make the switch, but don’t panic, you still have a couple of months to move over to the Mumble server. Our Ventrillo server won’t be shut down until September 1st. Full Mumble details are pinned to the top of the AIE Community Discussion forums.

 

Are you pretty good with words and sentences and stuff like that? Well AIE needs your help. Our community has grown so large, and the number of games we play has increased so much, that AIE’s horde of trained monkeys can’t possibly keep up with all the news. So we’ve opened the doors to the entire community to write articles for the AIE website. If you’d got the gift of putting words in the right order, and have something to say about your favorite AIE game, come join our legion of writers. See the AIE Wiki for all the details.

Don’t forget, AIE is into more than just major league games, we also play an entire array of minor league games, and the best way to find other AIE members playing minor games is by posting on our Minor League Games sub-forum under the Imperium Ludi forum. This week, Calliel posted looking for more people playing The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Sartavious is looking for more AIE members interested in Knights and Dragons, and Beefmaster has posted some tips and tricks for Clash of Clans.

 

Also in the Imperium Ludi section, we’ve got a couple of useful posts for those of you playing Wildstar. AIE Member E.B. posted a guide on how to recover your addon settings following yesterday’s apparently massively disruptive The Strain Ultra Drop patch,  and Herbivotive posted a very informative guide explaining how AMPs work and where to find new ones.

 

Big surprise, we actually have some RIFT news to share. After what feels like months of pretty much nothing happening in what everyone agrees is a great but kind of undervalued game, IGN has announced the upcoming release of their next major expansion. It’s called The Nightmare Tide, and among many other things, raises the level cap to 65, opens up new world zones, has new rifts called Nightmare Rifts that have scaling-difficulty waves of foes, and even introduces “collectible minions” (Yes Alludra, RIFT now has pets.)

 

And finally, just a reminder that our episode 200 show is right around the corner, only two weeks away. We’ve got quite a few big name guests on the docket, so you’re not going to want to miss it. It will also be Ghomus’s final show, so we’ll be giving him a fond farewell as well. We're raising the Filth Alert Level to intense orange-red, based on very credible, detailed information on a non-specific threat.  Could it be a mutation?  Absolutely possible.  Orochi Corporation chemical or biological agent?  You bet it could happen.  Filth monster?  Hey, you never know.  But what we do know is that it's absolutely positively gonna happen today.  Maybe.

 

The 1.9 patch hit since last time, and there’s sweeping changes with some of the old status quo in deck design, stat weights, and all around min-maxing.  For details, you can always check the patch notes, but for simpler “Tell me what I need”, be sure to ask fellow AIE members, we have been following the game community research, and have practiced much of the new findings.

Both the anniversary event, and the next mission pack have been released today.  The anniversary has tweaks and quality of life changes, as well as a brand new golem boss in the Kaidan zone.  There are old rewards from the previous anniversary event, as well as additional and new items to get from the new golem.  People wanting to participate should join the #Event channel in-game to join in on all the excitement.

 

The new missions expand on the story from the four quest givers in Kaiden.  You learn a bit about the complicated plot and scheme that Daimon Kiyota is orchestrating with those who are involved with the Korinto-kai.  Inbeda gets to have an epic moment with his sword and an interesting decoration.  Gozen will send our characters on a mission that stresses the importance of love, even in the current events of The Secret World, as well as send you on a task to show that the Jingu Clan is not to be trifled with.  In addition, you get to play a more advanced tower defense mission with super secret Orochi Corporation equipment from our crazy tank driver “Buster”.  Also, we learn a secret ward against the Filth.

 

Coming soon, is an in-game community event that will be held in the Albion Theatre, where various communities and cabals will be telling people all about who they are.  The Recruitment Fair will be on the 12th of July, and of course AIE will be there to represent.

AIE NEWS

AIE: Podcast 200

Before we dive into game news, we want to remind everyone that The AIE Podcast Episode 200 Spectacular Spectacular will be coming up in three weeks. It’ll be a pretty big shindig, with several star-studded guests!  AIE Final Fantasy member Rounca Pardylle [rounce-uh parr-dill] has donated two Everquest Landmark Closed beta keys and a copy of Final Fantasy XIV to give away, and we’ll also be saying a fond farewell to Ghomus after more than three years at the helm of this show. AIE: General

It’s been in the works for a while, but Stigg finally announced testing has begun on AIE’s Mumble server. We’re taking a look at Mumble to see if people prefer it over Ventrilo, so please give it a try and let Stigg know what you think. The really cool thing is, the Mumble server tied to UMAMI, so you can sign in using your personal UMAMI username and password. No more having to deal with Vent password changes. The server is at mumble.aie-guild.org on port 64738 - which is the default, so you don’t need to worry about remembering that. If you need any help signing in, instructions are in the forums.

 

AIE: Nomads

Even the amazing AIE Nomads are not immune to the Summer doldrums. Lotwook has announced they’ll be taking a break from wandering into any major games over the summer, but they’re going to keep Minor League Game Night going strong, so make sure to vote and join in on the fun. On a side note, Lotwook asks for any Nomads travelling to Nerdtacular next month to please post pics from the event in the Nomads forums.

 

AIE: Imperium Ludi

We’ve got are a few updates from the up-and-coming games riding the Imperium Ludi bus: The Elder Scrolls gang has announced that the guild bank is nearly full. Gorgesh has cleared some space, but there are crafting mats coming out of the seams, so if you’re into crafting, get in there and put them to use. In Wildstar, Khlaw is warning everyone that the guild has almost reached the guild cap, so they’d like all you cupcakes to please remove any alts you don’t actively play, and ask that you keep to just your main and maybe one alt in the guild until the game gets over that new game smell and membership settles down. And for you Heroes out there,AcuZod has posted a Google Spreadsheet for everyone that has been lucky enough to get into the Alpha so far to share their battle tags. The link is in the Imperium Ludi section of the forums. He has also set up a chat room on the Vent server to help people get together and play. Look for “The Storm Shelter.”

AIE: WOW

For you AIE members running around that special place we call Azeroth, EverStudious is looking to put together agroup to knock out old content,complete achievements, and pick up mounts and pets. If you’d like to run some old school content, give him a shout, or feel free to arrange your own runs on the Team Recruitment section of the WoW forums.

AIE: EVE

Lots of news from the spreadsheets in space gang. First, Lanctharus posted a military update covering changes in [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], which is very important, especially for those of you that [REDACTED] late at night. He also announced the corporation will be running nightly ratting fleets every night starting the night of June 29th, at night. This will be to generate revenue to keep providing free ships to players. Those free ships will probably all get ‘sploded on July 8th, as that’s when they will be undertaking a Major, Military, Maneuver, which we are not allowed to discuss in detail on this podcast, because... SPIAS. If you’re interested in taking part in this attack, or defense, or thing that I can’t say what it is, check that you know where place.

 

AIE: SWTOR

In a galaxy far, far, away, Max has declared Tuesdays to be Mandatory Fun Night. The goal of Mandatory Fun Night is to have fun, so don’t worry about your gear, or how well you play, or anything like that. Just show up. Remember, SWTOR is free, and Mandatory Fun Night is mandatory, so there’s no excuse. Max will know if you’re not there. Max knows eevveeryythhiinngg.

You may not have known this was a thing, but apparently you can load text adventure games to play inside The Secret World. AIE Secret Member DottWarner posted a link to a text adventure game created by Dott and Jermaine called The Horned God. It’s the first of a series of text adventures games they are working on, so if you like to get all inception-y and play a game while you’re playing a game, you’re just gonna have to check it out.

 

AIE: LOTRO

For you AIE Hobbitses out there, Dux shared a link to Turbine’s 2014/2015 roadmap for Lord of the Rings Online. Covered in the roadmap are things like the two upcoming updates this year to roll out the the Army of the Dead, a new class called The Beorning, which is a caster class that can transform into a bear, a new system of crafting tied to the kinship house, special events related to Hobnanigans, which are also known as chicken hockey, and much much more.

If you’ve been waiting for a great deal before you go where no one’s gone before, now is the time. Perfect World has put their lifetime subscription on sale at 30% off. It’s now just a one-time fee of $199 to be a lifetime Gold subscriber to Star Trek Online. That’s like paying for 14 months of World of Warcraft, and getting it free forever. I wish I could do that. Of course, STO is free to play, so it’s not be quite the same thing, but if STO is your game, and you love all the benefits of being a Gold member, you’ll probably want to jump in on this deal.

Gil Donations have really ramped up recently.  Still need more for our goal, but extreme thank you to all those that have donated so far.

We still have the goal of buying up a Large House.

Gil donations are always accepted.  Just walk up to the FC Vaults and drop the money in.

Crystals Purchases, the fuel needed for crafting, is available for about 20% less than the current market value.

Each FC buff costs company credits, and to stretch things out, we have been running 1 buff, teleport cost reduction,  during the week and then 2 buffs on the weekends, Teleport Cost reduction, and 10% xp combat xp bonus.

For 100k donation, you can pick a specific buff to be our 2nd buff for a day.  This can be buffs like, Increased PvP marks gained, Crafting XP buff, Gather XP buff, reduced repair costs, Companion Chocobo XP Buff, and so forth.
