Elder Scrolls Online’s early access is out this week! The rest of the players will have access next week. If you want to hear more about the game, be sure to tune in next week when we’ll have Grimbane on to talk about AIE’s expansion into ESO.

April fools day! Did you see all Blizzard did? Fake patch notes, fake expansions, whole bunches of crazy stuff! What about guild wars 2’s bobble head prank? Players who logged in to guild wars 2 found their avatars had bobble heads! I personally liked the fake patch notes put out by Blizzard, like the one that says Using the Mage spell Blink will now attract the attention of creepy angel statues. Don’t Blink, and the one for Paladins - New Ability: Renounce. When cast, Renounce permanently changes the Paladin into a Warrior. (I think that was intended for Alachaas)

Just a reminder, AIE in The Secret World has low level fun runs every Monday night at 7pm Eastern/4pm Pacific! You don’t need fancy gear or really any sort of experience, the TSW crew is more than happy to see you through the dungeon experience!

 

Speaking of TSW, they have had their state of the game for April.  The story of the AEGIS system is explained, PvP changes for El Dorado, and a 10.5 gear path will be available.  Even bigger news, next week an adventure pack will be released with four new Investigation missions.  These are the signature missions of The Secret World, where you need to solve a puzzle with clues.

 

Blizzard’s desktop app has added chat functionality! Now you can talk to your friends in game without being logged in!! Unfortunately there is no way to opt out of the chat client without during off the bnet client. You also can’t ‘appear invisible’ or offline. To update your app to get the chat simply log out and reload it. It will start updating immediately! ...or apparently it will ask you to update in a few minutes.

 

World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Warlords of Draenor, has just released their alpha patch notes! These are crazy long and hold the first glimpse of Blizzard’s newest expansion. So head over and see them before they start slashing through them with red marks and overwrites! This is the first draft of the alpha folks, expect to see these expansive patch notes change with time!

AIE Nomads: From Outer Space to Middle Earth

Lotwook wrote in to let everyone know, the AIE Nomads crew is finishing up their stay in SWTOR and have been playing some Diablo 3 on the side. The Nomads will start their roam into LOTRO on Friday April 11th, so if you want to join them in this great free-to-play game, go ahead and start downloading it now.

 

AIE Nomads: FlapMMO

Speaking of AIE Nomads, on April 1st, the Nomads will also be roaming into FlapMMO. FlapMMO is a free-to-play massively multiplayer game built from the same gameplay mechanics of now defunct single player Flappybird game. if you’d like to flap along with the Nomads, more information can be found on the forums and in the AIE Nomads wiki.

 

AIE FF: Patch 2.2 is Live!

AIE Diablo: Diablo 3 Reapers of Souls

In case you aren’t in the blizzardverse or haven’t been paying attention to your Real ID  friends list, Diablo 3’s first expansion has launched, and everyone is playing it! The expansion includes a new act, a new class, a new crafting profession, and a whole new way of leveling! If you haven’t played the game since Diablo 3’s launch, you may want to give it a look, as the way you play the game has changed dramatically, in a super fun way!

 

AIE Diablo: AIE Community

Speaking of Diablo, did you know they also added a guild system? Well, it’s more like clans and communities, but guess what! AIE Is totally there! Just look us up in the communities section and click to apply! The system works by using your battle.net name, so unfotunately we will not be accepting any account ID that’s against our policies.

New Patch 2.2

New Primals, quests, glamours, beast tribes, dungeons, nerfs, new raids.

Next and final PS4 beta starts April 4th, this time on the live servers.

Glamours!  Transmog with a twist!

Have ps3, convert it to ps4 for free.  PS4 Version is pretty much the PC version.  Including keyboard and mouse controls!  For those that like those funny mice, the Razor Naga’s side keypad is reported to not work, but the Logitech G900 does.  There is a valid reason why, but for now, just trust me.

PS4 Remote Play to Vita is sweet.  Looking forward to optimizations and things that a patch brings

Still the only AIE game that supports cross play between console and PC players in the same game world.

Housing donations are still being accepted to help us with the stretch goal of having a FC home.

AIE NEWS

AIE WOW: Level 90 boost available now.

For you World of Warcraft players who have been looking forward to the ability to boost a character up to level 90, Blizzard has just released that option as part of the pre-order of the Warlords of Draenor expansion. You know you’re going to buy it anyway, right? Well now you can buy the expansion and get your new level 90 in time to actually get some raiding in.

 

AIE WOW: Hearthstone Mount

Also for you WoW players, Blizzard has released a beautiful new mount, but don’t get your wallets out, this mount is entirely free. All you have to do is download Hearthstone and win three games in Play or Arena mode, and you will earn the Mount Up achievement, plus get the Hearthsteed mount to fly around on in Azeroth.  This is a beautiful horse mount, with a stone body and blue ethereal wings, hooves, mane, and tail. (A little too Alliancey for my taste, but yeah, I had to get one.)

 

AIE WOW: Spring Craft Faire Reminder

We’re just one month away from the Spring Craft Faire in World of Warcraft, and thanks to the recent boost-to-90 deal from Blizzard, we’ve had hundreds of new level 90s join the guild over the last couple of weeks. Yes, hundreds, and they all need to get their skills up, so the craft faire captains have put out an emergency call for help. They need lots of mats to feed the hungry newbies. So if you’re in the middle of the pre-expansion doldrums and have some time to kill, or just want to help out, contact the craft faire captain of your choice and see what mats they could use help with gathering.

 

AIE EVE: Capture of Noobtropolis

Those hardy adventurers in Eve Online have had quite a month. Right after the mass migration to a new area of space last week, this week AIE, as part of the BRAVE alliance and HERO collective, have captured their first space station in null security space, and have appropriately renamed it Noobtropolis. Now their job is really just beginning, as they have to hold on to control of the station and fend off evil space people who would take it for themselves. As the name implies, AIE’s new alliance is very friendly to new players, so if you’ve ever wanted to jump into this exciting and sometimes overwhelming space battle game, now is the perfect time.

 

AIE GERP: Diablo 3 Community

If you’ve ever played Diablo 3, and who hasn’t really, you may be interested to know that patch 2.0 brought Clans and Communities into the game. Of course AIE is all about community, so of course AIE has a community running in Diablo 3. Just search for “Alea Iacta Est” to join, but remember, like most AIE communities, please keep everything family friendly, and hang in there if things get rough, they’re still trying to figure out how everything works.

 

AIE RIFT: New Stuff Coming

We actually have some news from the land of AIE in Rift! Yay! Trion has just released a new Conquest map, called Steppes of Infinity, four new souls for the 2.7 expansion - Cleric, Warrior, Rogue, and Mage, a new digital gaming platform called Glyph, two new community managers, the return of Mech Week, and the extension of the Carnival of the Ascended. Wow! No news for weeks, and then suddenly they let loose the floodgates. If you haven’t stepped into Rift in a while, you might want to hop back in and find out what’s going on.

 

AIE FF: Glamours

And finally, the gang over at Square Enix have announce a new feature for you Final Fantasy players - Glamour Prisms. Glamour Prisms will project the look of one piece of gear onto another, so now you can make your character look the way you want without messing up your stats. (Yes, in World of Warcraft we call this Transmoging.) This will be coming in patch 2.2, which will also include a few server stability improvements. Patch 2.2 is scheduled to be released next Thursday, March 27th, which is perfect, as we’ll have the AIE Final Fantasy gang on the show to tell us all about it.

 

AIE NOMADS

Here’s an update on the AIE Nomads crew - They’ve been hanging out in SWTOR, which Apolas and Sema will talk about in a moment, and they’re also playing a bit of Neverwinter Nights and some Diablo 3, so if you’re interested in any of those games, track down the Nomads and have some fun!

It’s been a while since we last did a podcast spotlight, but I felt it was time for another. As you may know, AIE was started by podcasters, populated by podcast fans, and has influenced a number of members to start their own podcasts, so we like to take a little time every now and then to highlight an AIE member that has become notable in the podcast space. This week we are giving a big shout out to Rho, host of the Realm Maintenance podcast. Each week, Rho interviews hosts of other World of Warcraft podcasts, and has become the go-to show that every WoW podcaster tries to get on to prove they’ve made the big time. You can catch the show at realm-maintenance.com. He also co-hosts and guests on other podcasts, which you can find out about by following him on Twitter @RhoWoW. Galactic Starfighter - recently came out with new ship type which is the bomber, new maps have come out and in fact a new one is coming with the next patch in early April. New Galactic Starfighter Map.  It's a domination map.  ecumenopolis

 

New Nightmare Mode for Dread Fortress, with a new twist on Nightmare Modes

 

Two new flashpoints coming with nice little plot that is going to play out over the rest of the year, Korriban and Tython.

 

New map for PvP - Huttball on Quesh.  Special new mount (a Rancor) for the elite of the elite pvpers.   Other versions of the rancor mount in future for Nightmare Mode ops and Cartel Coins.

 

Some class tweaks coming in 2.7 (early April)

 

Lucky-77 Swoop speeder to all of Subscribers (March 18, 2014).  It has a chance to “hit the jackpot” when summoned, kicking off an animation that tosses holographic coins everywhere.

AIE WOW: 2014 Spring Craft Faire

For you AIE World of Warcraft members, the AIE 2014 Spring Craft Faire is coming up again. Time to get those trade skills you’ve been neglecting leveled up to as high as the MOP expansion allows, all for free! There will also be a raffle with amazing prizes, including at least one sky golem mount and several hard to get battle pets, which can be yours for the price of 100 gold a ticket and just a little luck. All gold goes towards purchasing even more raffle prizes and the materials that get handed out to guildies to level their skills. The craft faire will be on April 26th and 27th, and the Craft Faire team is actively looking for volunteers. If your trade skills are already maxed, why not jump in and help out your fellow guildies?

AIE WOW: Pet Battle Picnic

Speaking of battle pets, if you missed out on the last awesome Pet Battle Picnic, don’t despair. Nevermore has announce the next AIE Guild Pet Battle Picnic will be held on March 16th from 6pm to 8pm server time in the Ruins of Isilidien, just south of Dire Maul in Feralas. The event is open to anyone of any level of pet battle experience, so come on out and learn about pet battles, win prizes, and of course battle other guildies for the honorary title of best guild pet battler evah! AIE EVE: BRAVE/HERO Deployment

For those of you who are fans of spreadsheets in space, there have been some major happenings going on. Not only has AIE joined in with the BRAVE alliance, but BRAVE has joined up with a couple of other large alliances to form the HERO coalition, one of the most formidable fleets in EVE Online. And to top it off, the entire gang has moved into a new corner of the universe in order to better spread their “Power of the Newbie” propaganda. As you could guess, they are very friendly and helpful to new players, and are actively recruiting, so if massive hundred-person space battles is your kind of thing, you’ll want to come check them out.

AIE NOMADS: Minor League Game Poll

We know you’ve heard all about the AIE Nomads, and how they wander from game to game getting a taste of everything a game has to offer. Well they’re not just in major league games, they also jump into fun frivolous minor league games. Lotwook has posted a poll asking for votes on which minor league game to play next. The choices include Hearthstone, World of Tanks, League of Legends and more. If you’re into minor league games, and want to play with several other AIE’rs, join the Nomads and cast your vote!

 

AIE STO: Galaxy Class Overhaul

For you Star Trek Online players, you may be interested to know that Perfect World is completely overhauling a couple of the first starships they put into the game. The Galaxy class cruiser and dreadnaught are getting new features, such as a separating saucer section, new stats, hanger bays and more. So if you have a Galaxy class starship sitting in the closet gathering dust, you might want to jump back in and check it out.

 

AIE FF: UI Tips Requested

AIE Final Fantasy member Vitalogy needs your help. He’s trying to work out the perfect UI for his Paladin tank. (There are Paladins in FF?) He’s also looking for any other “must have” tips and tricks to make the game easier to play. We know there’s a hardcore Final Fantasy gang out there, so if you have anything to share, see his post in the forums.

 

AIE FF: Transfers from Legacy Worlds Allowed

And speaking of Final Fantasy, Square Enix has opened up transfers from legacy worlds, so if you had a character back in Final Fantasy 1.0 that you were in love with, you can now bring them back to life and into the latest version of the game.

 

AIE Steam: Steam Sharing

This just in from Beefmaster: Steam Sharing is out of beta and released to all us peons. Steamy Steve indeed! Sharing is very similar in concept to sharing your iTunes library with other users. You are able to "authorize" 10 devices and give access to 5 different steam accounts. BUT you cannot play the same game at the same time. So no Borderlands 2 Co Op for you. (Seriously its on sale every week; just buy it.) You can Ugoogley "steam family sharing" or go to http://store.steampowered.com/sharing/

 

AIE General: Vent reminder

As we’re always saying, if you only connect with AIE inside your favorite game, you’re missing out on half of the AIE community experience. Don’t forget we have our own 400-person ventrillo server, where you can chat with any AIE member, even if they’re in a different game. It’s a good place to get to know people, share jokes, play music, or just pass the time while you’re knocking out your game’s version of “dailies”. There’s a lounge room set aside for every AIE game, though you can of course jump into any lounge you want, but remember, we are a family-friendly guild, so keep it clean. Our ventrillo information can be found by logging into UMAMI. Every now and then we have to change the password, so if you can’t sign in, you can check UMAMI to see if it’s changed.

AIE Generale: Nerdtacular

We know Scott is going to dish out some tasty details on this in a minute, but we had to mention that the big news of the week is the official announcement of Nerdtacular 2014 opening up ticket sales. Nerdtacular will be held on July 4th weekend at the beautiful Snowbird resort in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tickets are only $50, and that gets you two full days of amazing Frogpants fun, including three, yes three, tracks packed with star-studded panels, games, and shows. If you want to know more, stay tuned!

 

AIE Nomads: Moving On

Just a reminder, the AIE Nomads are moving on from Rift and over to a galaxy far far away in a mere matter of days! Lotwook and Pellel have been busy populating the calendar with great AIE SWTOR events for the Nomads to take part in! It’s easy sometimes to overlook those sticky posts at the top of the forums, or to dive right into your own favorite game’s forums and forget to check out the Community section, but if you’re not aware, we wanted to remind you that our other guest tonight, that rascally Ralff, created a Zeemap for all of our AIE members to show where in the world they happen to be, and see who might happen to live near them, which would be a big help when thinking about planning meetups. So if you haven’t done so already, or haven’t checked it out in a while, head to the Put Your Mark On The Map post in the Community section of the forums and see what’s changed.

 

AIE GENERAL: Imperium Ludi Reminder

We know there are a ton of games out there that many of our members are very interested in playing that are either not in the AIE official list, or that are coming up in beta. If you want to jump in and get all conversational-like about your favorite new game, and maybe help AIE decide if it’s right for our community to set up an expedition into, check out the Imperium Ludi section of the forums.

 

AIE General: Removal Reminder - No hard feelings!

Just a reminder, we love you, and you will always be a part of AIE, but we do clear out the rosters occasionally. To make room for new members to our happy family, we purge inactive characters from our ranks. The rate at which this is done varies by game, so we just want you to be aware! And don’t worry if you found yourself on the wrong side of an inactivity kick, it is quick and easy to get back in, just hop into  your game’s local AIELFO channel and ask for a re-invite.

AIE STO: More inventory slots coming soon!

What’s an enterprising young starship captain to do when your pockets are full of loot and you keep losing all of your red-shirted cargo carrying companions? Well don’t worry, the fine folks at Perfect World have announced the are increasing everyone’s storage slots. Both character inventory and bank storage will be increased in the next patch this week. To find out more, or chat about what to do with all the red-shirts this will free up, see RattoZatto’s post in the forums.

 

AIE LOTRO: Update 13 & 7th anniversary coming soon

The nomads are wading into the dark scary world of PVP! well actually they are venturing forth to dispel the rumors of scary dark pvp. They are planning to charge the battlefields twice this saturday (feb 22) 7pm-8:30pm est and then again at 10pm est until the life has been drained from all the brave warriors (or you know, they go to sleep) if the dates and time sound familiar it is because this event is happening both before and after the guild’s town hall meeting.

Just a reminder the nomads are going to be roming into a galaxy far far away (and no we don’t mean Eve lanc!) this march! Kind of stuck on what to do on mondays? Want a really cool group to hang out with? Well the TSW crew has you covered with Dungeon run mondays! Starting at 7pm est, every monday they run dungeons! This is not a group for the elite (as alludra can attest) but a fun run where everyone helps new, returning, and heck even old vets of the game gear up, get to know everyone and just plain have some fun!

 

Various games are also holding ‘ask a guildie’ or AMA’s on the forums! Rattozatto the unseen head of TSW is holding one in the secret world forums, SWTOR is holding their 7th week of ‘ask a guildie’ with Whiteboy on the hotseat. The LOTRO team has an ongoing thread, if you want to know any thing about their game! These threads are a great chance to get to know your fellow guildies, learn about other games, or just find out what color socks ar ethe best!

 

Meetups are happening! Yes AIE loves to hang out not just in game, but also in person. We have a meetup planned for PAX East happening on Friday April 11th! The so cal members are getting a bit crazy with a Rocky horror picture show meeup on midnight Feburary 22(!) and for those in the area we will also be converging at  AwesomeCon in Washington DC on Friday April 18th! Not going to be there? Are these too far away? Then plan you own meetup! They are fun, easy to plan and we give you the tools! Just head on over to meetup.com and do a search for Alea iacta est.

 

It was announced on NSFW show this week that well...I think we already knew some of this? But Nerdtacular is indeed over 4th of July weekend this year at Snowbird Resort outside of Salt Lake City Utah! Justin Robert Young and Brian Brushwood WILL be in attendance (so expect some Night Attack-ness!)  A change from LAST year, though, no Kickstarter! Special packages will still be available to those that want them, and more details will be dropping soon!

AIE WOW: AIE 7th Anniversary Pet Battler Picnic

Hopefully you were able to join us for the AIE 7th Anniversary Parade this week, but if not, don’t worry, the celebrations aren’t over. This Sunday, February 16th, Nevermore will be hosting a guild Pet Battler Picnic! The event is open to anyone at any level of pet battle skill. Come on out at learn about pet battles, help teach about pet battles, and of course partake in pet battles against other AIE guildies! Prizes will also be given away throughout the event! Meet up at The Arboretum in Jade Forest at 5pm server time. Summons will be available for anyone unable to travel to the Arboretum on their own.

 

AIE WOW: 2014 Spring Craft Faire

Another event coming up in AIE World oF Warcraft, the Spring Craft Faire is just around the corner. This is where you can get help and free materials to level your crafting professions all the way from 0 to max, or at least as close to max as possible. This is a semi-annual tradition in AIE, and even if your crafting skills are already maxed, it’s a lot of fun to see AIE fill up the normally desolate city of Silvermoon. And don’t forget the amazing raffle with tons of give-aways, including at least one Sky Golem this year, and the COOP raid on the Alliance afterwards. The craft faire is too big to be held on a single day, so it will be split across Saturday, April 26th and Sunday April 27th. AIE WOW: Scroll of Resurrection coming to an end

This isn’t strictly AIE News, but it could be of importance to the AIE WOW community. Blizzard has announced their Scroll of Resurrection program will come to an end on February 18th, just five days from now. The Scroll of Resurrection is a great way to get a friend back into World of Warcraft, and awards the receiver with a free boost to level 80 and 7 days free play time, while giving the sender an exclusive spectral wind rider mount. If you know someone who used to play WoW and is considering coming back, time is running out to take advantage of this great program.

 

AIE EVE Recruiting

Ok, you’ve heard about the massive battles, the massive fun, and the massive spreadsheets. Now it’s time for you to grab your slide rule and your scientific calculator and join the fleet! Don’t forget, we have Greenwall in Real Life! You can chat with other AIE members, even when you’re not in a game, by using our Jabber server. Jabber is a text chat system that works with a large number of chat clients, so you can find any client you like, point it to our Jabber server, and chat the day away. The information you need to point to our Jabber server is in the forums, or you can even use the Jabber web client found on the front page of the guild website at aie-guild.org.

GAME NEWS

The Nomads have been roaming Rift throughout this month of February.

 

AIE Nomads was born from an idea posted on the forums in December. It attempts to address the evolving gaming habits of players who are hopping from game to game, due in part to the incredible amount of good gaming content readily available. It addresses the problem that some of our AIE guilds have been lacking in attendance because people have been spread thin. By moving the focus from the game, and instead to the group, we strengthen the AIE social experience.

Accomplishments - lots of people dinging 60, guild quests leveling, guild dungeon runs.

Future events - PVP event, dimensions with Aleriase

Lessons learned - Get people in, game download and admin signup done early so as to pace it for the officers. No harm in starting now for SWTOR.

 

Other roams - Warframe last night - Beefmaster to assist in steam

Problem solving philosophy, paced at first to address each problem - my roll and the eventual change of it.

 

Problem types to address: Timezones, Which games, Free or pay? , Which platforms (console, mobile, PC etc), How long do we play each game?, Do we take breaks, Is the a replacement of GERP (NO) , communication ..

Right now the group is focusing on established AIE MMOs as well as diving into minor league games from time to time.

AIE General: Winter 2014 Town Hall

As we mentioned last week, it’s time for another AIE Town Hall meeting. This is when the leadership of the AIE Gaming Community gathers together to answer for their crimes, I mean, tell us what’s happening in the world of AIE. The Town Hall will be held on our Ventrillo server on Saturday, February 22nd, at 9pm Eastern, and is open to all AIE members across all of our games. Be warned, we tend to fill up all 400 slots on the server, so anyone who regularly uses the server for groups and raids at that time might need to make alternate plans. Very sorry about that.

 

AIE WoW: Anniversary Parade

Can you believe it’s been seven years already? This month we will celebrate the 7th anniversary of the founding of the AIE WoW guild with a “grand parade” to take place at the Sunspire on Sunstrider Isle on Wednesday, February 12th, starting at 9:30pm Eastern. Bring your fanciest armor, your coolest pets, your most spectacular mounts, and lets remind Earthen Ring that we are a force to be reckoned with.

 

AIE WoW: Wedding Bells Ring

Wedding bells are in the air of Azeroth. Two members of the AIE community have decided to tie the knot (in game at least) and you are invited! Join Yummybear and Juniper as they join their authenticators together on Wednesday, February 11th, at 11pm server time at the Fairie Circle in Tirisfal Glades. Reception to follow.

 

AIE WoW: Love is in the Air Event

This really is the month of love, and there’s no better way to express that than to share it with friends and frenemies. AIE WoW members can join us on February 15th at 2pm server time for the AIE Love Is In The Air event, where couples in game and real life can express their love for each other in front of the entire guild and a special guest Master of Ceremonies. And where else would you expect to find such a romantic event than the most romantic setting in Azeroth: the cathedral in Stormwind. Of course this means we need a LOT of support., so grab your loveliest battleaxe, and prepare your most emotional spells, and help us share our love with the Alliance.

 

AIE STO: Dilithium Bonus Weekend

For you AIE Star Trek Online players, Perfect World is also showing you some love with a special bonus dilithiuim mining weekend event. So power up your spaceship and fly it backwards towards the nearest mine or asteroid field, and fill up your wallet.

 

AIE FF: Company Vault Cleanup

Samantha Jane reminds all of our AIE Final Fantasy members to please be considerate and not flood the company vault with cheap useless knick-knacks. She’s just finished giving it a good spring cleaning, a few months early, and will turn an extremely grumpy face on anyone who messes it up again. She didn’t throw out any of the bloody weapon parts, dust bunnies, or fledgling doo, so if you’re looking for any of those wonders, please help yourself.

AIE WOW: Cross-realm raid LFG

Here’s something I just found out, and even though I bet every other World of Warcraft’er already knew it, I thought I’d share, just in case. If you open the Raid window, there is an “Other Raids” tab at the top that will let you LFG for for cross-realm raids. This seems like a very helpful feature for finding a raid during low-population times, including for those pesky Timeless Isle Celestials that I never seem to catch anyone killing.

 

AIE EVE: The most expensive battle ever waged

What started out as a missed payment has led to the largest battle to ever take place in EVE Online. Hoots describes it as “a struggle between multiple coalitions that has involved nearly every nullsec entity in one form or another”. The end result has been the destruction of over $300,000 equivalent dollars worth of ships. Hoots posted a video in the AIE EVE forums showing some of the destruction.

AIE STO:  4 Year Anniversary Event is live

AIE FF: House collection reaches 6 million gil

Big kudos to the AIE Final Fantasy gang; They just passed 6 million gil collected towards purchasing their guild house. You can help earn earn gil just by  jumping into a treasure hunting group with a level 45+ character. You don’t have to be any good, you just have to be there. For more information and other ways you can help, see Jasmine’s post the AIE Final Fantasy section of the forums.

 

AIE General: Imperium Ludi forums reminder

Don’t forget, while AIE has official presence in a large number of games, we have explorations going on into almost every game out there, from MMOs to F2Ps to MOBAs. If you want to see what other people are playing, or throw out an idea for a game we should look into, check out the Imperium Ludi section of the forums.

 

AIE General: Skyrim pre-order deals

And speaking of other games, there is a thread in the Imperium Ludi forums concerning Elder Scrolls Online that contains information on a number of discounts towards pre-orders of the new Skyrim MMO. For example, there is a code for 20% off from Green Man, and a link for 25% off from Gamefly. If you’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on a purchase of the game, check the thread and get a good deal.

 

AIE Nomads: Rift reminder

We mentioned it last week, but just to remind everyone, if you’ve been thinking about jumping into Rift, the AIE Nomads, that group of game wanderers, are roaming their way into Rift starting on Saturday and lasting all month. See Lotwook’s post in the forums, or even his AIE Wiki entry for more information.

 

AIE General: Town Hall

Just a head’s up: AIE is planning another AIE Town Hall meeting coming up in February. This is where we try to get the entire guild together in vent to report on the current “state of the guild” and find out what AIE is planning for the future. Dates are still being nailed down, so keep your eyes on the forums and your ears tuned to this podcast for further details.

Grimbane: When last we visited The Secret World [Redacted]

RattoZatto: The new Christmas event was another in theme dark spin on the holidays.  There was a revival of parts of the End of Days event that tied with the whole Mayan calendar from last year, but this year the new content involved the Krampus and his mother Hel.  For more real world info on them:

The Whispering Tide event is still going on, but the current phase we were on months ago, is still current.  Content for the next phase has been beta tested, and Tokyo is still next in line, as far as new content goes.

Welcome to The AIE Podcast episode #177. The Die Has Been Podcast. Broadcasting from the AIE Podcast remote studio in Central Alabama, this is AcuZod. Joining me from the other side of the continent out in Central California, is Alludra. (“Hey AIE, I think you’re awesome”).  Ghomus could not be with us tonight. He is out on a secret assignment. We’ll have more news about that later in the show, so stay tuned!

 

Ok, we’ll be digging into AIE News shortly, but first, we’d like to take a moment to offer our sympathies and support for Abovan and his wife, who lost their newborn daughter Lizzy a couple of weeks ago. As Lanc posted in the forums, words cannot express how deeply saddened we are. Lizzy has been added to the AIE Remembrance Day list of loved ones lost.

 

We are just three weeks away from the AIE World of Warcraft Love is in the Air Wedding Vow Renewal and Marriage Event. This is when we get together as a guild on Valentine’s Day to celebrate Love itself by holding a ceremony where AIE couples, in-game or Real Life, can express their feelings for each other. We hold this event in a highly romantic setting, the cathedral in Stormwind, so we’ll need a large number of AIE members who also want to share their Love with the Alliance. Like with swords and axes and stuff. If you’re interested in joining, see the AIE Azeroth section of the forums for details.

 

And speaking of a smashing good time in Azeroth, if you’re looking to join a raid team, or need more people to fill up your Flex, don’t forget we have a special section of the forums just for you. The Team Recruitment boards are full of teams looking for more people, and people looking for a team, so don’t be afraid to jump in and get your raid on.

 

For those of you looking for adventure in deepest darkest space, Lanctharus is running a Wormhole Day Tripping Event over in Eve Online. He’s looking for pilots who can fly armored battleships, salvagers, and a lot of other things I don’t understand but sound terribly exciting. We can’t tell you when this event is going to happen, spies might be listening, but if you’re an EVE player, you know where to look for the info, and if you’re not, well, what’s wrong with you?

 

If you like your fun a little closer to solid ground, you might want to check out the Chocobo Race event going on with the AIE Final Fantasy gang. They ran it as a one-time special event, and it was so popular that they’re making it a weekly thing. I don’t know what a chocobo is, nor how you actually race one, but if you want to find out, the next race is this Saturday at 8pm Eastern.

 

If your fun knows no bounds, you might want to check out the AIE Nomads group. These plucky adventurers hop from game to game, usually free-to-play games, to check them out. Learning a new game is a lot more fun with friends, and that’s what they’re all about. The Nomads are heading into Rift in February, and if you want to join them, see the Roaming into Rift thread in the community section of the forums.

We also want to make an apology to the Nomad gang. They were supposed to be on the show last week to brag about how awesome they are, but we had a perfect storm of anti-dis-un-availability and had to postpone that episode. We are going to have them on soon though, so if you’re a Nomad groupie, hang in there.

 

:Speaking of Rift, this is the perfect time to Nomad your way over there, as Trion is releasing an update for Rift next month. Version 2.6 will come with a couple of new raids and raid weeklies, a new instant adventure, a new dimension thanks to an entirely new crafting profession called Dreamweaving, and a lot more.

 

It was supposed to be a secret, but RattoZatto gave us permission to tell you that he will be running an AIE The Secret World Legion of Dynamic Discord Lair Night next Wednesday, the 29th, at 7pm Eastern. As there always is with those Illuminati folks, there are a number of rules that must be absolutely obeyed, so check out the secret communication location, also known as the forums, for details. Ratto also points that this event starts 30 minutes before their their normal Cthulu Wednesdays run, so initiates might have to make a choice between the two events. Choose wisely.

 

Meetups! We have three meetups coming up in the next month to tell you about. There will be an AIE raid on Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose CA this Saturday the 25th at 1pm, a raid on Chino Banditos in Phoenix AZ on Sunday Feb 9th at 6pm, and the really crazy people will be gathering at a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening in Los Angeles CA on Saturday Feb 22nd at midnight. If you are anywhere near those areas, hit the AIE Meetup.com page and RSVP, and if you’re not, go there and start your own local meetup so we can talk about it!
