On this episode of The AIE Podcast...
    - The Kickstarter is kickin’ it!
    - The Hat is halfway there
    - Can you keep a secret? Yes you can!
    - Email from the Final Frontier
    - And we talk with Maxx and Sema about AIE in a galaxy far, far away.
All that and more coming up right now...
Welcome to The AIE Podcast episode #166. Broadcasting from the AIE Podcast Emergency Battle Bridge in a stormy Southern Alabama, this is Acuzod. (“Greetings. This... is AcuZod”) Joining me from the Pet Podcast Studio on the other side of the continent is Alludra. (“Hey AIE, I think you’re awesome”). Unfortunately Ghomus couldn’t make it tonight, he’s locked in a raid with the Real Life boss. We just hope he gets loot.
This week we are joined by two special guests who are here to talk to us about AIE in SWTOR.
    First lets welcome Maxx.
    And we also have Sema…
Ok, we’ll be digging into SWTOR shortly, but first, let’s cover this week’s news...

The Blizzcon Guild Hall Kickstarter has met its goal! That’s right everyone, you have helped us fund the amazing guild hall that we all know and love, congratulations!! But there’s still time left on the clock and it seems we are going to have some stretch goals set up soon to aspire to! Keep your eyes on the page everyone!
And speaking of guild fundraisers the AIE Pass the Hat drive has hit 50%! We have reached half our goal for funding the things that help make AIE work, like the forums, the websites, the various services we have, all that fun stuff!! If you would like to chip in and help out, head on over to the fundraiser site and give it a look!
Win a steam copy of the secret world! Rattozatto on the forums is holding a contest where you, yes you! Can win a copy of the secret world! You are going to need a facebook(!) account for this one folks.
Hotfixes hotfixes hotfixes! World of warcraft just received a balancing patch on october 2nd! They have re-tuned some of the raids, changed some of the classes, and even messed with pet battles! For all the latest info check out the patch notes.
Did you ever want your very own starfleet email address? Well now is your chance! Head on over to starfleet.com and get one! It’s just $15 a year, which is a lot cheaper than four years at the academy!
Links to everything covered in this week’s news can be found in the show notes on our website, TheAIEPodcast.com, so with that, it’s time for our Podcast Spotlight...

    AIE NEWS
We have a new guildie of the moment! Everyone give three cheers to Mutang! He’s a nomination from a fellow guildie who wrote in to tell us this:
    Good morning officers,

Wanted to throw a quick shoutout to a fellow guildie named Mutang
(Tauren Hunter, Audacia) who provided a good half hour worth of free IT
help for me this morning. I'm a big believer in positive feedback for
people that do the right thing, and this guy went above and beyond. Just
wanted to let y'all know! Thanks for keeping the best guild on the
    planet in good order.

    Bricksquad (Formerly known as Teradar)
    90 Orc shammy, AIE Salus
Thanks for letting us know Bricksquad! And thank you Mutang, for helping us keep the AIE experience positive! If you know someone who exemplifies the AIE spirit, please let us know at [email protected]!

The Kickstarter for the AIE Blizzcon Guild Hall is active as of today! This will prove to be a great event, and we’re hoping to do both OUR podcast and a live The Instance show from there! Help contribute and make this happen!  We’re already at almost 25% towards this after just a few hours. There are several tiers you can choose to back, with great rewards including swag bags, t-shirts, a chance to run a raid with the WoW officers, and even a game of Cards Against Humanity with Scott Johnson! As a note, the kickstarter for this one is a little shorter than usual, only 15 days!

As expected, the host of games AIE has ventured into has gotten bigger! This week, Final Fantasy has entered settlement phase and is “AIE Official!” UMAMI support has been added and all the details can be found on the forums!

Those of you in AIE World of Warcraft, and interested in how we’re doing raid-wise, will definitely want to check out our Raid Team Summary and Raid Progression wiki pages, which list the raid teams in AIE WoW and how far they have progressed. We have some great raiding posts in the forums, but digging through the forums to see how many raid teams we have or how they’re doing is not very efficient. That kind of information is perfect for our Wiki. Rowna has made several changes to the Raid Team Summary page, trying to get as many of the raiding teams that were already there updated, and adding the ones that weren't, and the Raid Progression page is showing If Looks Could Kill is far in the lead, downing Iron Juggernaut in Gates of Retribution. The wiki is open for all AIE members to edit, so if your team isn't up there, then you can go ahead and add them.

And now it’s even easier! Stigg has updated the wiki to use a graphical editor that makes editing the wiki just like editing a forum post. No more having to learn wiki code to make a good looking update to the page. So there’s no excuse for not jumping in. Just go to wiki.aie-guild.org and sign in with your UMAMI name and password. There’s room for every game and every topic, so if you don’t see something there you think should be, just add it!

And speaking of raiding, for those of you on any raid team in any AIE game, don’t forget Sihx is looking to hear what you’ve done so he can add it to the Raid Wrapup segment he produces for this podcast. Send all the details of your latest accomplishment to him at [email protected] and you’ll get to hear your raid team on the segment!

Meetups! There are a ton of new ones. Those party people in Phoenix still have their thread up in the forums,  and it looks like the folks in Colorado are also getting in on the action. All this while new meetups are being added all to the meetup.com site! Don’t let the fun only happen in game!

The fundraiser for AIE Events and Costs in general is doing pretty well! We’re at JUST under 50% of our goal with 66 people having donated so far! Thanks to those of you that donated, every little bit helps! This runs to the end of the year so chip in if you can!

    AIE NEWS
In case you missed it, AIE has launched two fundraisers to benefit the guild. The first is the Pass the Hat fund drive to cover the costs of our web hosting, meetup.com site, and other expenses a guild our size generates. The second is the AIE BlizzCon Guild Hall Kick Starter Scott Johnson announced on this show last week, which will fund the amazing AIE gathering we hold every year alongside BlizzCon. The Guild Hall has been epic in past years, and this year, the kickstarter will make sure it’s even more amazing than before. If you’re interested in contributing to either fund drive, please see the forums for more details. (Note: the Kickstarter is not out yet, but keep your eyes out for it!)

Hey you graphic artists out there, AIE is looking for someone to create a set of icons for our UMAMI membership database website. We’re currently using images shamelessly stolen off the net, but we want to do better than that, and come up with images that are unique to our community. If you’ve got the pixel pushing power, all the details can be found in the forums.

Meetups! This week we’ve got several Meetups being suggested. Siv is looking to hold a meetup at the Yard House in Lakewood, Colorado on Sept 28th; Aset has suggested a meetup during the Browncoat Ball in Phoenix on Oct 4th; and Psyanide is looking to gather together during the Nashville Comic Con which runs from October 18th to 20th.  If you’re anywhere near those locations, see the relative posts in the Community Discussion section of our forums, and of course, don’t forget we have a Meetup.com site which is perfect for planning get-together.

Of course we’ve been talking all about World of Warcraft and especially the new zone, the Timeless Isle. One of the great things about the island is all the rares that spawn non-stop and drop epic loot. There are so many, it’s a little overwhelming, and nearly impossible to figure out where one is before it gets killed. Well Romulo has come to our aid, and posted a Wowhead map showing all the rare names and spawn locations. Study it well, there are a lot of free 496 purples waiting for you!

Jedis, this one is for you. Even though Star Wars: The Old Republic is free to play, they still offer a subscription, with paying subscribers getting many benefits that Free players miss out on. Rowna just posted that the subscribers will also be getting the next expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, for free! New subscribers will get it if they sign up before October 20th. Previous subscribers must have been inactive before June 14th and sign up before Oct 20th to qualify. Current subscribers must stay subscribed until Oct 20th to qualify? Confused? Of course not, the Force is strong with you!

So one of the reasons to play Star Trek Online is all the cool ships, right? Well let’s be frank, you can’t be logged into the game ALL the time, but Perfect World entertainment is giving away 3 different 1 year ‘subscriptions’ so you can collect your ships OUT of the game as well! Check out the official site for more details! You know you want your Dreadnaught class starship keeping yer papers in order, check it out! Each of the 3 prizes is 24 ships!
    Podcast Spotlight

This week we’re sending a shout-out to Johnny Feisty, host of the TV CoPilot podcast. It’s the comedy podcast that brings you a beside the scenes look at your favorite shows. If you like your information that’s entertaining, but not necessarily informational, this is the podcast for you. Fun audio clips, “guests”, moderately factual trivia, and surprising interviews galore.  TV CoPilot was nominated for a Parsec Award this year, though unfortunately it didn’t make it to the winners circle. You can catch it at: http://www.johnnyfeisty.com/tv-copilot/

And if you’re a member of AIE who hosts a podcast, we want to give you a shout-out as well. Send the details on your podcast to us at [email protected]. Be sure to let us know if your podcast might be considered not family-friendly. We still want to give you some love, but we want to let the listeners knwo what they’re in for as well.

    - Reach into your pockets
    - Orgrimmar is under siege
    - The craft fair is falling
    - Dude, do you even podcast?
    - And we talk with Gerp and Lanctahrus about AIE in World of Warcraft
All that and more coming up right now...
    AIE NEWS
Many people may not realize this, but as AIE has grown, all of the expenses needed to support the community, like web hosting, the Meetup.com site, giveaways, etc., have been paid for out of pocket by a small handful of very generous people. As the community continues to grow, and our needs increase, we’re looking to raise some funds in other ways, so we can provide everything we need and want to provide for the community without continuing to tap into the wallets and purses of those very generous people any further. One of those fundraisers is our new “Pass The Hat” campaign, where you can donate a buck or two towards keeping the community running. All the information you need is in the Passing the Hat post in the forums, including examples of how much we’re trying to raise, where the money will be going, etc. It’s almost like playing EVE with a spreadsheet! Thus far we’re at just over 30%, with a final goal of $4,000 at the end of the year.

It was mentioned on last week’s show, but we just want to make sure that folks know - The ExtraLife charity IS being supported fully by the Frogpants community at large this year!  The charity event is a game-playing marathon where people get sponsored to play video games for up to 25 hours straight. It’s the gamer’s version of running a 5k, but without all the sweat, knee pain, and subjecting yourself to that great ball of fire in the sky. The charity will benefit the Primary Children’s Medical Center. in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a great cause. If you want to join the team as a participant, or donate to the cause, look for the Frogpants Team for Extra Life Marathon post in the Community section of the forums.

A friendly PSA: Please use an authenticator if a game has one available! There have been waves of accounts getting banned for new and old games alike! Please don’t get caught in the crossfire and get some peace of mind. Many games have a phone app (for some platforms)  which is free, and some others have a cheap 5-8 dollar key fob. Money VERY well spent!

Today’s show is about World of Warcraft, and it will probably be mentioned, but the Fall Craft Fair is already starting to spool up. There will be a meeting this Friday (the 13th, wooooo!) at 9pm server time (so EST) on getting the ball rolling. Show up if you’d like to know more, and keep an eye on the forums!

Speaking of the craft fair, if you’re new to AIE and would like to know what the craft fair IS, or have any other questions about the craziness that is the AIE community, don’t forget we have our own Wiki! There you will find answers to all your questions, and you can post your own answers to questions that haven’t been asked yet. At wiki.aie-guild.org, you will find information on events like the craft fair, the summer of love, and the running of the beef, along with details on our ventrillo server, our jabber server, guild policies, real life events, and more. And since it’s a wiki, you can add to the mindshare!

And with the new content patch of 5.4, the Siege of Orgrimmar is underway! And with that, new raids and flex raids! With the new "Seige of Orgrimmar" raid content, we encourage any and all raid teams to send in their team's progression on either normal or flex by next Tuesday, September 17, and every Tuesday after that,  for inclusion into the Raid Wrapup segment at the end of the AIE Podcast. The Raid Wrapup isn’t limited to just World of Warcraft. You can send your summary of raid progression or even grouped activities from other games as well, including SWTOR, The Secret World, Rift, Guild Wars 2, Eve, or any other AIE MMO. Please send in all updates either through the Raid Wrapup thread on the AIE forums, or email [email protected].

Star Trek Online has a mission which is available on Friday the 13th ONLY. It’s called “Hearts and Minds” and you can get the details on, yes...the forums. Check it out, STO is free to play, and AIE has a nice fleet there!

We know how many talented artists are in the AIE community, and if you’ve played Secret World you know how many cool outfits are in the game. So….from the looks of the DATE on this item, we perhaps should have announced it sooner, but Sept 15th is the deadline for you to design your own outfit and possibly get it into the game for all to share! Details are at the official Secret World site. You have until Sunday get to drawin!

Speaking of talented artists, we know there are a lot of podcasters out there in the AIE community. After all, AIE was built from the love of podcasting. If you’re a member of AIE and host a podcast of your own, we want to know about it so we can inform other AIE members and help the out-of-game AIE community grow. Email us the details about your podcast to [email protected], and we may select it for the podcast spotlight in future shows. For this week’s Podcast Spotlight, we’d like to give a shout-out to Caoboi and Iceflow, two AIE members and a married couple who host the ValentineCast podcast, talking about food, games, and more. They are great people, and their podcast is great fun. You can listen to them at valentinecast.com.

Yarrr!  The pilots of AIEU in EVE Online are up no good again.  They have recently started up a pirate fleet codenamed: Why is the Rum Always Gone?  Of course details of the operation must remain top secret as there are various other ne'er do wells who are attempting to stop them. Check out the forum post in the EVE forums which has a link to the super secret details that can be viewed once you join AIEU.

So head on over to the website and check it out! Hopefully their september letter will be out before christmas! I’m Ron Burgundy?

So if you are in the secret world check out all the fun!

Well it appears that Final Fantasy is STARTING to stabilize and it looks like Gilgamesh might be the server of choice for AIE. I think they’re still feeling things out, but there is a long thread about availability of character gen in the forums so check it out! It appears that night owls have an advantage here!

So we know you love THIS podcast, right? RIGHT? Well just in case you needed MORE, fear not, frequent guests on the show who talk about SWTOR have formed their own Podcast to be under the ‘AIE Umbrella’. AIE NEWS
In case you happen to be in the Pacific Northwest this weekend, OR this tiny thing down in the south east, you can look and find AIE peoples there! PAX, in Seattle, and DragonCon in Atlanta both should have a variety of folks there! Check Meetup.com and the forums for information surrounding such! There’s also a Group me up for the dragon con folks, for easier communication (I don’t know how it works!)

Not to leave OTHER areas of the country out, but if you happen to be in the Phoenix, AZ area, there is a raid on Chino Banditos happening tomorrow night! That’s Friday, August 30, check the meetup.com page for more details!

Members of AIE In Colorado are also putting out feelers on the forums discussing a possible meetup! So far the denver metro area is under discussion. If you would like to attend, the discussion is looking really positive, so head on over to the forums and participate! Or at least help set a good date and time!

Coming back from a break? Or having a friend come back after an extended leave? Well don’t worry, we at AIE remember you! There is no need to fill out an application unless you are creating a new character. Just hop into AIELFO on your old character, and we can get you into the guild quickly. (And yes! You need an application for each toon! We also like to know when you have name changed!)

Big news from the AIE Warcraft front! We have promotions! Tetsemi, keeper of the spreadsheets and lord of the numbers has been promoted to Praetorian. Yes! We decided that even as an officer he was seeing way too much play time in game! (He was even on a raid team guys!) In other news the officers have further decided to disrupt play time by promoting member MewKow to centurion. Posts will be going up on the forums shortly for your congrat-u-dolances.

Looking for a fun event in AIE SWTOR on tuesday night? Well look no further! Emperor pel-patene (sp?) is holding the amazing race, of swtor! Our gracious leader has even seen fit to make the rules more flexible so that more can participate! Want to play? Well check out the forums for the full list of rules, and be in ventrilo at 9pm eastern this tuesday! And if you missed the first week, don’t worry! You can still participate!

There might’ve been a closed beta launch of a certain Blizzard Property, and I was looking around, I certainly didn’t SEE an NDA surrounding this, so yes! Hearthstone is in the hands of some lucky folks! Blizz seems to be giving keys away every week, we tried to get some keys to give away for the show, no such luck yet!
Do you have a cinder kitten?? Why the heck not??? Well if you are one of those who have been holding out for a sale, guess what! now is your time to shine!! The cinder kitten is 25% off for this week only, bringing the price down to 7.50! So head on over to the blizzard store and pick yourself up a pet!

And since we are still on blizzard news, world of warcraft has announced that they will be publishing their next patch on September 10th! Yes, all that 5.4 goodness will be out that day!! So get your alts geared! Get your toons at the ready! And for goodness sakes level those battle pets! The celestial tournament is coming and you don’t wanna be left out!! ...oh and something about garrosh.

OMG blizzard seriously?? More news?? Fine! Barcodes for Blizzcon have been emailed out. Please make sure that if you purchased tickets that you check your spam folders for those all important bar codes that will get you into the show.

This last tuesday saw an update for the secret world! Various bugs were fixed in this patch including several crash fixes, errors, and some oddness going on with one of the PVP ques! For full patch notes check the official site which we have linked right in the shownotes.

The bounders bounty event is going on in middle earth! This is an in game event in LOTRO event to help the shire. don’t worry though the hobbits are very generous and grateful for your help and willing to compensate you for your work in turning in Bounder’s tokens. The Devs are pulling out all the stops with this event, they have a formal announcement and a developer diary that doesn’t give much away! The event also comes with a handful of bug fixes and updates you would expect to find in a big patch. Dux on the forums was nice enough to round up all this in one place.

And not to be left out Star Trek online has announced that you can win a rare Jem’hadar “bug” ship by opening Romulan Survivor Duty Officer Packs. There are other great prizes to be found as well, but this is exciting for anyone who missed the event to win a ‘bug’ ship!

There is a strong rumour that Final Fantasy 14 might’ve launched in the past two weeks while we were gone, but it’s hard to tell! But seriously, apart from a somewhat shaky launch because of capacity problems (who knew people liked Final Fantasy?!), the servers have appeared to started to stabilize. There are a TON of discussion threads from your officers and other guildmates, so as always, check the forums!

    Sad News:
    http://www.riftscene.com/reports/sad-news-today-as-elrar-departs-from-trion/

    1) General Rift stuff
We are on the Deepwood shard and, while either faction can join, we are primarily defiant.  (talk about how to join the guild)

For those of you that don't know much about Rift, why do we like it and perhaps why should someone pick it up?
-Free to play: yes there are a few limitations but you can see all of the content for free.
-Patron perks: 10% store discount, 15% currency bonus, 10% mount speed, 40% xp/notoriety/tokens/prestige/favor vials are very helpful: last 2 hrs, accrue 1 per day, max of 7
-Characters: each calling (class) has nine souls (specs) and any three souls can be combined to make your character build (like the old wow 3-pane talents).  premade builds in game are good enough to get started
-XP: while there are quests, dungeons, and pvp, there are also instant adventures, rifts (talk them up!), onslaughts, chronicles (solo or duo instances at level 50 and 60, currently 6 of them), zone events and world events.
-Planar attunement - pa xp begins at 50, gives stat and cooldown bonuses and is shared across your account! think of it as the old EQ AA pts
-For the fashionistas, there are wardrobe slots, transfiguration (transmog in wow), and upgradeable gear (similar to voidbinders in wow)
-For explorers and collectors, there are cairns (secret locations to find), zone puzzles to solve, artifacts to collect
-Crafting - if you want to pay, you can have all 9 crafting and gathering professions on one character (which I do and it's awesome!)
    -Dimensions
-Mentoring down to help lower level players - makes doing dungeons more fun and more challenging
    2) What to do at 60
With a bunch of players hitting level 60, we want to talk about what things there are to do at 60.  You can do anything to gain planar attunement experience to improve your character.  Some level 60 specific things are chronicles, expert dungeons and raids.
What game would be complete without notoriety (rep) grinds!?  What are the endgame notorieties and what do they get you?
-torvan hunter and lycini get you the best lesser and greater essences for your planar focus/soul machine (hunt rifts and great hunt rifts)
-dendrome, newish lvl 60 zone, has three reps: empyreal alliance (dps trinket, trinket runes), achyati (tank trinket, ring runes), hailol (healing trinket, seal runes) so it's worth it to eventually get all three
If you want to run expert dungeons, how do you gear up for them?
-Crafted gear will get you to the required 300 hit/toughness easily.  RiftScene has a great best-in-slot calculator which I've linked in several posts recently.
If you want to raid, how do you gear up for them?
-After getting geared for experts, getting to 400 hit/toughness for raids is a little more work.  There are a few expert dungeon drops/expert dungeon mark gear will get you to 400.
    3) Upcoming stuff/news
What is on the PTR (public test realm)?
    http://community.riftgame.com/en/2013/08/28/realm-of-twisted-dreams-new-5-player-dungeon/
-Revamped old dungeon for level 60 (twisted realm of the fae) is supposedly really good but I haven't checked it out personally.

    http://www.riftscene.com/reports/new-hair-stylescolors-coming-to-rift-in-2-4/

What is coming in the next expansion?
-Each calling can fulfill every role in some capacity (tank, dps, heal, support).
    Rumors?
-lower plat cost of dimension keys
    -cross-shard instant adventures

Hellscream is about to get what's coming to him.

EVE is about to jettison some players
And we talk to Pelell and Max about AIE in  SWTOR
All that and more coming up right now...

    AIE NEWS
AIE’s own Pelell and Abovan will be having an informational meeting about Final Fantasy, including Q&A and open discussion, in Ventrilo at 10:00pm EST on Thursday night. Yes, Thursday, like right after the great, wonderful, entertaining, and insightful AIE podcast!   Missed the meeting?  The Q&A will continue on the Final Fantasy section of the Imperium Ludi , on the AIE forums!

Speaking of Final Fantasy, the Final Fantasy open Beta starts this weekend!  The 16th for previous beta testers, 17th for everyone else, running through the 19th.  The Early Access starts on the 24th for pre-orders, with the official launch on the 27th.

So our illustrious Acuzod has taken it upon himself to organize an event in a game which many AIE people play, but there is no ‘official presence’ there. Do you play League of Legends? Of course you do! Zod is looking to get something spooled up so a bunch of folks of all skill levels can participate.

The officers of AIE World of Warcraft would like to remind everyone that if you or a friend are returning to the game after being removed for inactivity, all they have to do is jump into their local AIE LFO channel to ask for readmittance! We would also like to point out that we would love to help everyone but it sometimes takes us a bit to be able to stop what we are doing to help!

Zarhym from Blizzard itself wanted to let us know, in case you have been hiding under an internet ROCK, that there is a new trailer out for the World of Warcraft patch 5.4 patch, Seige of Orgrimmar! If you are looking for a reason to take down Garrosh (beyond what he’s been up to all expansion), then look no further!
If you are out exploring the galaxy in the AIE fleet in Star Trek Online, you should be logging in this week! Takemikazuch has posted in the forums that ships are being given away, for FREE by Perfect World! Log in early, log in often, as there have been some neat things given away! These are items which would normally cost Zen, but not for this time period.

An update from the Spreadships in Spaaaace folks. They’re starting to actually implement a rule that has been on the books from the start! They’re going to start to purge folks who are inactive or just haven’t logged in. The cutoff is 3 months, and logging just to update your skill queues is enough to keep you as ‘active’. Read the post that Hoots made in the forums for more details. Also, due to all the crazy war activities, there is a post regarding making some money in AIEU's new digs!
    GAME NEWS

Recent AIE SWTOR happenings! ~Pel and Max
    Greetings!

Before we get to SWTOR news, I would like to preface our segment with something that has been on my mind and some of the other Officers as well. In SWTOR, as a guild, we have taken a hands-off approach in terms of maintaining our numbers. Meaning we haven’t been actively recruiting outside of our already established community. This, in part, has led to a drop off in active players within SWTOR, and I expect this to be the case in some of the other AIE games. We want to change this.

We had been operating on the thought that since AIE:WoW has this previously established player base, that it seems only natural that any other AIE branded game would also have something similar. But there are a couple truths. 1st~ Once the shiny wears off, people migrate back to their game of choice. And 2nd~ A pool of existing members is still a pool of roughly the same numbers, no matter where they come from. Combine these with a mostly hands-off approach to running in game guild events or raids, and we have stagnation within the individual game community.

We need to approach this from a different direction. While we want to create a home for any AIE player to come and check out any particular game, we need to be more proactive in maintaining and growing the community. It’s no secret that AIE is one of the largest gaming guilds in the world, primarily due to the Instance and their WoW numbers, but we want to take it to the next level. And in order to do so, we are going to try to actively recruit beyond what we are doing now.

As we continue to grow, we are going to start using social media sites a bit more than what we have been. Expect to see a Google Plus AIE:SWTOR page and a Facebook AIE:SWTOR page, for example. Personally, I’d also like to start moving away from the #AIEGuild hashtag, and start using game specific ones, ie #AIESWTOR. Whether the other games follow suit remains to be seen, but this is what we in SWTOR want to do in order to grow the community.

Coming off the heels of Remembrance Day, I want to give Brewdawg a special shout out for helping organize events for the week for AIE:SWTOR. He picked up the slack when he didn’t need to, which is totally what AIE is all about. It once again reinforces that Officers don’t necessarily have to be the ones to run events all the time. We still want to encourage our guildies to think outside of the box and do fun things for the community. But that said, expect to see a more hands on approach from the Officers in general.

    /soapbox off

There’s a new 16 man team on the block. Well, it’s like a combination of awesomeness, like when you put together 5 lions and they form a kick ass light sword wielding giant robot. Lords of Light and Sith with Unlimited Power have combined to do a one night a week 16 man operation. With the experience of both teams, we are just about killing SM Scum and Villainy in 2 hours. This new team needs a name that matches it’s epic style, though. /looks at Machia.

We still do have the 16 man Size Does Matter team for the uber casual. If you are a new 50-55, we try to run one every few weeks, and would love to take new people along that may not be able to commit to a structured weekly Ops team. Typically, gear is not an issue. So if you are interested, keep your eyes on the forums for the next run.

Also, the Officers have been coming up with new events to get the players engaged a bit more in the guild. A big one we will be talking about shortly. Sema runs a Tuesday night Hard Mode flashpoint run for anyone who wants to see some HM action. Admittedly, I need to pop my head in there, especially to see some of the new Flashpoints. If you are super hardcore, Machia runs a Taco Harder 8 man on Thursdays. Their roster is currently full, but they may take alts if you ask nicely and do a little dance. Friday nights Arveshet also runs the Triple F, Funky Flashpoint Fridays. These are also designed for people that haven’t run any flashpoints to get some in, and even knock out some achievements at the same time. Both of these events happen around 9 p.m. Eastern. Feel free to drop in on one of these nights if you have a itchy trigger finger.

The first Bounty Contract Week begins on August 14th and will continue for seven days.
New in game guild event! TAR:SWTOR Edition~ Pel
I am extremely excited for this next announcement. The next big guild event we have planned is a SWTOR edition of The Amazing Race. For those of you that are unfamiliar with TAR, basically it's a race around the world with 11-12 teams of two competing for a prize of 1 million dollars. There are 12 legs of the race where certain objectives must be performed to advance to the next leg, usually 3-5 per locale. The last person to check in on each leg typically gets eliminated, until there are just 3 teams left racing. First team to the finish line wins 1 Million Dollars.

We are changing our set up a bit from teams to individual, due to game mechanics as well as this being the first time we are trying something like this. There will be no eliminations, but there may be time penalties associated with each place for the next leg. Be aware that the Race is not limited to the game itself. Ventrillo will be required for this as well, since there will be audio related clues given. For this particular race, it is recommended you be at least level 50, and you can use either faction.

This will be a 5 night event due to the structure of the game, with each night being a leg of the race. Each leg will consist of about 4 different stages, meaning each leg may last a couple of hours, depending. Because of this, it’s important that you are committed to the race and run each night. If you miss one night, you will not be able to advance to the next leg. Currently, we are trying to nail down which week will work the best, but are shooting for either the last week of August or the first or second week of September. There is a poll in the announcement thread open for 5 days. Majority rules.

We are awarding 1 million credits as a prize to the winner and will have other surprises in

    AIE NEWS
For any AIE/Tadpool/frogpants people going to DragonCon this year, Revenar has set up a GroupMe group for everyone. GroupMe is a service that lets you send or receive text messages from everyone in the group, without everyone having to give out their phone numbers to everyone else. You can also message everyone from the GroupMe website. The GroupMe information is already posted to both the Facebook group as well as the Extra Life Forums in the "General Yappin' Section, but he also wanted to share the link here!

There was a time when EVERYONE had a WoW signature on the forums. (The forums? Did someone say forums? Go to the forums!)  But as everyone knows now, we’ve branched into so many games, a single game signature just won’t cut it! There is a very cool thread on the forums where a few awesome folks are trying to get one generated for ALL the games that AIE uses!

We tend to mention the Imperium Ludi section of the forums now and again, but it looks like Final Fantasy is really gathering some steam! It’s very clearly in the expedition phase of GERP right now, but there is a TON of activity on the forums. People talking about dates for when things will drop, what sort of things they’re planning on doing on launch, etc. Get your votes in and voice heard as the GERP progresses!
Don’t forget, we have Greenwall in Real Life! You can chat with other AIE members, even when you’re not in a game, by using our Jabber server. Jabber is a text chat system that works with a large number of chat clients, so you can find any client you like, point it to our Jabber server, and chat the day away. The information you need to point to our Jabber server is in the forums, or you can even use the Jabber web client found on the front page of the guild website at aie-guild.org

Speaking of Greenwall, you coders in the community may be interested to know that the WoW Greenwall add-on code has been posted to Github, along with other AIE-developed software. If you have some free time and wish to lend your coding skills to the guild, check out our Github, where you will find the link to Stigg’s email address to get invited to the party.

Most AIE members are really into fantasy games, and Fantasy Football is no exception. It looks like the Frogpants Fantasy Football League has filled up, but Younhoi from AIE World of Warcraft is looking to see if there’s any interest in starting an AIE Fantasy Football League. If you’re up for it, respond to his post in the forums. There’s no money involved, so you can play without losing anything but your pride - unless you can pick a good team, of course.

We want to give a big shout-out to AIE World of Warcraft for their amazing COOP run last week during the AIE Summer of Love. They took over the Alliance Pandarian city, Shrine of the Seven Stars, which I think is a first for our server. Big thanks to Alachaas and the rest of the COOP leadership for holding that event. Alachaas has promised another COOP run coming up soon. If you want to let him know you’re interested, you can reach him on Twitter at @Alachaas

For you hairy-toed AIErs who didn’t get a chance to partake in the Lord of the Rings Online Summer Festival, Turbine has extended the event to run through this weekend, so it’s not too late for you to jump in and get all those goodies you want before the festival shuts down for the year.

Breaking news, Revenar has posted up a link for the Remembrance Day video they made:  http://www.twitch.tv/revenar/b/439964981   So check it out!   And With that...
    GAME NEWS

Issue 7 is here, the Anniversary event has come and gone, Issue 8 is on the horizon, Issue 9 can’t come soon enough, and now speculation on where we go after 9 can begin!

Anniversary Event.  How it went, personal experiences, what went right, what went wrong.  What the community did right.

Issue 7.  Summerize each of the quests.  Go over the new dailies.  Explain what the new outfit reward is.  Who Horrifies The Horrors?  A Trail of Breadcrumbs.  When The Hatchet Falls.  You Only Die Twice.  The Sound of Children.  I Walk Into Empty.

Issue 8.  We know a little more, some of the implied changes to Scenarios and the increased maximum cap on Ability Points (AP).
Issue 9.  We learned a bit more about Tokyo, and that Issue 10 is going to be in a new location, hinted at the end of the Story mission for Issue 9.  Tokyo will have two zones, and at least one major dungeon hub.  People are speculating that this will be Orochi Tower, the headquarters to the massive corporation, where the Tokyo Filth Event happened.  Based on some information I recall from Issue #5, The Vanishing of Tyler Freeborn, it’s possible we’ll be headed to possibly Africa, or Scotland, however, there are other possible locations we’ll be heading to next.

What’s AIE doing currently in TSW.  (Nightmares, Lairs, and other activities).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5Z8WLtJoKA
On this episode of The AIE Podcast...
    - It’s our Summer of Love Special Episode!
That’s right, lots of love coming up right now...

Welcome to The AIE Podcast episode #158. The Summer of Love Special Episode! Broadcasting from the AIE Secondary Stage in Central Alabama, this is AcuZod. Joining me from the West Coast, out in beautiful Southern California, is Alludra. (“Hey AIE, I think you’re awesome”). Not joining us from his sickbed, is Ghomus! He came down with a nasty tummy bug this week, and is out of commision this evening. But don’t fret! Filling his shoes tonight, we have AIE’s own grand poobah, Lanctharus!

And with that, let’s jump into this week’s special episode, starting with Summer of Love News...
The AIE Summer of Love is going full swing! There are daily events that are going on for everyone! Yesterday (Wednesday) there was a pet battle tournament that was won by Nagozic or @angerfork on twitter! For the full results of the tournament check the show notes, as Nevermore was kind enough to post an image of the brackets.
    Alludra~no, I didn’t compete I watched though!
And speaking of the summer of love, tonight’s (Thursday night’s) World of Warcraft event is the scavenger hunt! It starts at 9 pm server so...it’s going on now! :D If you are interested, hurry over to World of Warcraft and get in there! Meanwhile SWTOR is right now holding chain heroic runs! They are starting at the low level planets and chaining upward until everyone logs from exhaustion! Details for this event are also on the forums!
Remembrance Day is tomorrow folks! Friday August 2nd is one of AIE’s biggest traditions, the Remembrance Day march.
World of Warcraft’s gathering will be at 10pm server, starting at the Shrine of the Fallen Hero in The Barrens. As always, we ask that you come to the event unarmed. We will be marching back to Orgrimmar at a walk. Bring your horde balloon and prepare for a firework extravaganza afterward.
SWTOR will be having a remembrance day event as well, starting at Alderaan in the Juran Mountains at 10pm PST. They also ask that members arrive early to de flag if they need to and to stow their weapons.
The Secret World’s event will be starting in the chapel on Kingsmith Island at 10pm Eastern time. Rare hunting to follow the event.
LOTRO will be holding their remembrance day event at 10pm Eastern on the hill above the prancing pony in Bree. They also ask that you come unarmed.
No matter which game you have decided to attend the officers strongly encourage you to log into vent to listen to the proceedings. Some even go as far to suggest that you log into World of Warcraft if you have never attended a remembrance day event, using a temporary free trial account. The warcraft event will also be live streamed and up on
The Summer of Love World of Warcraft is going to end with a COOP run on Saturday August 3rd at 9pm. Please note, this is not a bear run but fun is promised! (And who doesn’t like fun?) Full details about the run are up in the forums.

Finally, we have some special messages from AIE members worldwide about what makes AIE special for them...
Email from Revenar: Unlike other guilds I have been in over the years, AIE is truly a community that extends beyond the virtual walls of the games we play. AIE spans multiple games, and includes people of all types. When I joined AIE last winter, I was very close to quitting WoW completely, but my experiences in the guild not only renewed my interest in the game, but also led me to explore some other games with an AIE presence in them. Even as a new member, I was welcomed into the guild just like anyone else, and had the opportunity to run some instances and events that were next to impossible to get into on my old server.
But the biggest impact hasn't necessarily been in-game for me in terms of actually playing the game. This community (and I can't stress this term enough) has led me to want to help out/participate in the guild events such as Remembrance Day, and I've even started my own segment for the AIE Podcast as a way of saying "thank you" to the AIE Community as a whole. I'm looking forward to Dragon Con this year and the chance to meet some of these fellow AIE guildmates in person for the first time.
Email from -Shojobeat: Dearest AIE pod casters,
I have been in AIE since the end of BC. I have experienced so much laughter and good times that those experiences have forced me to stay in AIE till now and forever more! The best times I had during my WoW play in AIE was when I got invited to be an officer. I loved helping my guild mates and keeping the structure that AIE strives to maintain. I had to unfortunately step down from being an officer because I went back to school. But having experience as an officer helped me decide to get my degree in criminal justice. I owe AIE a huge thank you and *hugs* for helping me to be a better person and for being surrounded by the most awesome people that I will ever meet in my life. Thanks AIE. I love you guys :)
And now that we’ve heard from the rest of the community, it’s our turn to talk about what AIE means to us...

And that’s our show for tonight, We want to thank AIE for being such a great community to be a part of, and Lanctharus for joining us to talk about it. We’ll be back next week, at the same bat time, same bat channel.
Stay tuned, as we’ve got a full ride of great AIE members segments coming right up, including...

The AIE Podcast needs you! That’s right  Let us know what you think sets AIE apart from other gaming communities or guilds you have been a part of in the past. It can be as simple as finishing the sentence “AIE is awesome because ____” or sending us a personalized story. You can email us, tweet us, or send in an MP3 of your answer, what makes AIE stand apart!

Apolas wanted to let everyone know: The Summer Festival in Lotro as started on the 24th of July and will last until August 6th. Activities will include: Keg races (drinking contest), Taste of Hobbiton (speed eating contest), horse races, fishing challenges, scavenger hunts, Ale association vs Inn league and finally dancing. More details available on the LOTRO website

Everyone knows the voice of Sihx, that does the Raid Wrapup, but it turns out, he can’t do the Wrapup without your help! He’s posted a new thread in the forms here. All submissions are due by next Wed, July 31 and can be submitted via the thread or by emailing [email protected]. You can also tweet @epicdiapers for questions, comments, bumper suggestions or to get his kickin' chili recipe.

Emperor Pel-patine is stirring up some trouble as usual, and without giving TOO much away, I’ve seen some of the planning on the officer forums for this event and it looks AWESOME. Check out his cryptic post on the forums and watch it for more details as they develop! This is one you don’t want to miss. Remember, SW:TOR is one of our many Free-to-Play games.

The AIE Summer of Love starts in in four days, and it’s not too late for you to get involved! Believe it or not, most of AIE’s awesome events are held by members, not officers! So if there’s an idea you have had that you think will be great fun, or if you want to volunteer your time, head on over to the summer of love thread in the forums and check it out! Currently we have a running of the trolls planned and a COOP run!
Did you know we have a meetup.com website? Why would we do such a crazy thing? Well it helps plan events across a guild as large and awesome as we are! Like the upcoming SF raid on Harry’s Hofbrau this sunday! Come on over and plan your own events to meet with the awesomeness that is AIE in real life!

Giveaways! Gratz to Revenar and  Miss Mulgra for winning the Steam game giveaways from last week’s contests. Big thanks to Beefmaster and Pakkuan for donating the prizes.
