AIE NEWS 

We’ve got a couple of new games making an appearance in the Imperium Ludi forums. One of them, Warframe, is a free-to-play third person shooter where four people work together to complete missions in sci-fi environment. It’s both cool and freaky looking.  The other, Neverwinter, is a new MMO, still in beta, based on the popular Neverwinter Nights Dungeons and Dragons video game. If you play or are interested in playing either of these games, or any other multiplayer game, with other AIE members, be sure to check out or add to the Imperium Ludi forums.

 

Speaking of hanging out with other AIE peeps, don’t forget we have a map at Zeemaps that you can use to show where you live, and see which AIE members live around you. Great for planning meetups or just seeing how many other crazy people live in your town. To get to the map, look for the Put Your Mark On The Map post in the community section of the forums.

 

If you’ve a World of warcraft player looking to get in on real raids, not that LFR namby-pamby stuff, there are quite a few raid teams looking for more members. Check out the many recruitment posts in the AIE World of Warcraft Raiding forum, or make your own post in the free agents thread.

Book of Heroes, 1.6 patch has dropped! New content, added mercenary features, and most importantly INCREASED GUILD CAPS. Speaking of guild caps and things that were fumbled or dropped, I have all the information from all the guilds (which is being updated now) and hope to have something by early next week of what’s going on with the guilds! Lord of the Rings Online has announce a new update coming May 13th; the Treachery of the White Hand. “The epic story continues as you are called to the remote region of Wildermore! This Eastern Rohan area has been hard hit by an unnatural and deadly winter. A Stone Giant named Núrzum, under the control of Saruman, is rumored as the source of this icy tragedy. Throughout Wildermore, villages have suffered ravage and townsfolk have become refugees. Follow in the chilly footsteps of evil as you attempt to restore this once thriving region.” The update includes new zones, improvements to mounted combat, hobbit presents, new VIP rewards, and a lot more that we’ll dig into with the LOTRO gang on next week’s show.

 

Blizzard activision has published their first quarter earnings, and it turns out world of warcraft subscribers are down by as much as 1.3 million. Don’t worry guys, this means that world of warcraft still has 8.3 million people subscribing to the game.

We  have a new guildie of the moment! Everyone give three cheers to Liranei of World of warcraft! There was seriously so many wonderful things said about this guildie that we can’t read them all (it would be the whole podcast!) but the highlights are:

Liranei has been an incredible contributor to the  Craft Faire. [When] I mentioned that I needed "fel iron, fel iron and more fel iron" and he delivered so much that I still have a guild bank tab full!

A lot of the things he does are behind the scenes things that 99% of the guild will never know about.  But Liranei is too awesome to not be nominated!

Even though he helped supply most of the panther mounts given away as part of the craft fair raffle, he doesn’t own a single panther mount himself! Or rather, he didn’t until recently!

He said that I didn't need to worry about farming Borean Leather for The Spring Craft Faire because he was providing the entire quantity needed. . .approximately 125 stacks of 20! And, this is in addition to all the other mats he has and is gathering for the past and upcoming Craft Faires.

Wow! So thank you Liranei for being a true craft fair hero and making AIE A better place for all! And if you know someone who is a model of AIE guild membership, don’t hesitate to let your fellow officers know! you can email us your nominations at [email protected]!

 

Another SW:TOR officer has been put up on the chopping block for your perusal! For the whole Month of May, Neuroid will be on the forum answering all the hard hitting questions, show him what ya got.

 

Got your blizzcon tickets? How about tickets to the charity dinner? No on both? Well the bad new is that you missed out. Sadly tickets to all events are sold out.  Awwwwwwwww. If you managed to get a spare ticket check out the Blizzcom 2013 ticket sales thread in the aie azeroth forums. Guildies are posting for tickets inside.

 

Speaking of tickets it looks like N13 is sold out! But don’t worry, Scott has told us, via Twitter that there will be more tickets for sale this monday! So if you have been waiting, you may want to jump on them ASAP!

 

The craft fair was a rousing success! Many guildies got their professions leveled and fun was had by all. We would like to give a huge shout out to Syrene and all of the members of the craft fair who gave up their time and gold to make this event fun for everyone who attended! You guys are awesome!

 

For those that are thinking of getting into the Secret World to find out what all the..well..SECRETS are, this might be the weekend for you! From May 3rd to May 5th is a Golden Weekend. More skillpoints, recruiting bonuses, 15 dollars worth of bonus points for buying the game, check out the link in the show notes for more details!

 

Star trek online just released ‘On Sceen’- episode 2 this past Monday. On screen is STO’s quarterly community show about current events in Star Trek Online and is hosted by Brandon (AKA "BranFlakes"), Community Manager for STO, and Whit (AKA "CaptainKikii"). This quarter’s show is about the new expansion ‘Legacy of Romulus’ and their all new legacy pack which is basically ships and upgrades you can purchase for your game!

If you haven’t checked out pet battles in World of Warcraft, or are looking for ways to improve your pet battling skill,  Katana1976 has posted some great tips and tricks in the forums. Everything from general guidelines, to add-ons, to specific pets to use when taking on the named pet battle trainer quests. Definitely worth checking out, and if you’re an expert in Pet Battles (*cough*Alludra*cough*) feel free to add to the list!

For you World of Warcraft warlocks, Syrene will be giving away three Sealed Tome of the Lost Legions by random drawing tomorrow night, Friday April 26th, at 11pm server time. The tomes start a quest line that ends up changing specific warlock spells to use green fel fire effects. It’s only a cosmetic change, but way cool. If you have a level 90 warlock and want to enter the drawing, see the rules and entry post in the forums. Big thanks to Nagratz for donating the tomes.

 

Are you handy with Photoshop? Want to show off your chops and help AIE at the same time? The AIE EVE gang needs you! Lanctharus has put out a call for artist to create some digital images to drive fear into the hearts of our enemies. He’s looking for propaganda posters and a corporate mascot. If you want to join the war effort, see his thread in the forums.

 

Don’t forget, AIE is always looking for new games for our community members to enjoy. The Imperium Ludi forums are a great place to discover new games that other AIE members are into, and begin the GERP process to make them AIE official. Case in point,  RoBi has a post looking to start an expedition in the new game Firefall. Firefall is a free-to-play MMO first person shooter, and it looks really good. It’s been in development for years, and they just announced the beta. If you’re into first-person shooters, and want to get in on the start of a new game and possibly the next big AIE thing, then this is for you.

 

The secret world now has a new Raid! Well..actually it’s had it for a bit and somehow we missed this big news! The island of stillborn stars opened on the 15th of this month! It’s a 10 man raid, and sounds pretty cool judging by the press release. So if you play Secret world and are looking for a reason to log in, I think we found it!

 

Rift and the gaming website Raptr have teamed up to give you supercool new rewards! Rapter is a social gaming site that tracks your gameplay and gives you some interesting stats and rewards based on your gameplay time. (All games, wow, steam, you name it!) Well the people over at Rift decided they wanted in on this and came up for some pretty cool rewards. All you have to do is meet the conditions for the rewards (mostly it’s just play enough Rift) and you can earn a helm or spaulders or even more awesome, a 30 day time card and the Storm Legion expansion for free! To check it out head on over to Raptr and see if you qualify!

 

Okay everyone, time to be jealous a bit, Guild Wars 2 is beta testing custom pvp arena maps and a spectator mode. Relatively soon players will not only be able to create their own maps to confound and boggle their enemies, but also watch players pvp to maybe pick up a tip or two.

Meetups meetups meetup! With the weather turning nice in most places, tons of meetups are getting organized! The meetup.com site has been getting a lot of new guildie action like the Raid on Harry Hofbrau in San Jose, CA on April 20th, and the Raid on Dave & Busters in Ontario CALIFORNIA on April 26th,  and finally, Novaluna on the forums wants to know if anyone will be going to Wizard World in Phillidelphia this June.

 

Craft faire is happening in just two weekends! And afterwards? COOP run. Alachaas and his crew want to make sure with all the nifty items crafted at the faire get some proper use. The Alliance surely wants to see all these 600 level crafters bearing down on their cities? Riiight?

 

Love AIE so much that you are considering transferring servers to join us? Well your friendly AIE officers would like to remind you to fill out your application for your newly transfered character after you make the jump to make sure you won’t have a forced name change on arrival, or if you do, you can fill out your app with the new info.

 

Blizzcon tickets will be going on sale on April 24th at 7pm PDT and again on the  27th at 10 am PDT on the official blizzcon site! If you have the $175 and are feeling lucky go ahead and try to snag some! And if that’s not expensive enough for you, Blizzard is holding a benefit dinner for the Children’s hospital of Orange County, and on May 1st at 7pm for $500! This fancy benefit dinner’s price also includes tickets to the convention!

 

Speaking of Blizzard the last wing of the Throne of thunder has opened and is available for all, including LFR! If you have an item level of 480, go and take on that annoying thunder mogu that, believe it or not, we have been working toward for a good portion of this expansion!

 

Star Wars Online has released its first digital expansion, Rise of the hutt cartel! So what’s this expansion offering? How about a new level cap, more endgame content, extended personal storylines, and too much more to mention! Subscribers even save 50% of it’s $19.99 price tag!

 

It’s almost complete! Andrew Allen, the composer of our theme, has his kickstarter winding down and it will end April 20th at 5pm. He’s at 133% funded, and he’s also released most of the tracklist that will be on the album! Thanks folks for contributing to the success of this album getting produced!

 

If you’ve just spun up in STO to discover brave new worlds, new life and new civilization? Well the Romulan expansion is coming very soon. A reminder that the expansion itself will be free, but there are some neat Starter Packs if you are looking to buy a few neat items!

AIE IN RL! There are a bunch of Meetup.com events happening! A raid on Harry’s Hofbrau in Ghomus’s area, what looks like a gathering at Dave and Busters in Ontario, CA. Also what looks to be like a motorcycle ride, complete with doughnuts, and of course Nerdtacular and Blizzcon guild halls! Form your own or join others, signing up is free!

 

Wagz looks like he’s leading the pack in AIE SW:TOR. He’s the first person in AIE to get a 55 in BOTH Republic and Imperial sides! In looking at some of the responses here, it looks like he’s WAY ahead of some! Let’s hit that new level cap, folks!

 

Great job folks, it looks like, the composer of our Awesome theme, Andrew Allen, had his  kickstarter for Free Play go over the 100% mark! There is of course no reason to stop now, they’ve already said that anyone who has pledged 15 dollars or more will automatically be able to download an MP3 or AAC of the album free! So we look forward to see what the following stretch goals will be!

 

Yet ANOTHER example why you should go to the forums if you play WoW in AIE. Some folks were doing the Throne of Thunder LFR consistently over a few weeks, and showing up on Wednesdays. So they figured, ‘hey, let’s organize and get more AIE Folks! So if you are looking to get in there, this would be a great opportunity to NOT have to deal with LFR without a nice AIE Roster helping!

 

Sick of all those iOS users having all the latest info on their Fancy Nerdtacular App? Nicole Spag has heard the call of the Android and the Nerdcular App is now available! It’s a great application, with schedules of events, photos, and you can even purchase tickets through such!

 

In other AIE SW:TOR news, it appears the Neuroid is going to be attending a Cantina Tour which will include a Developer Q&A which will be happening on May 17th! He’s put the thread in the forums so if you’ve got questions, like “Why are there no Hoojib pets?” or “Why are Squibs not a playable race!?” There are already a variety of questions answered from past Q&As, so take a look at the thread and add to it!

A meetup in my own Backyard! Well, close to, anyways. There is going to be a raid on the Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose, CA in 2 weekends! The time is not set in stone, but I know there are a few people in this area, that I’d love to meet up with you. Shout out to Oakdragon for trying to get this organized!

 

And it looks like Emperor Pellpatine, on April 1st, (no joke!), has put up another SW:TOR officer for you to ask all your crazy questions to! This month? Sema! Be nice folks!

 

Nerdtacular tickets are NOW available! Head on over to Eventbrite to pick em up! Keep in mind that if you happened to get such through Kickstarter you should have already gotten an email which will tell you how to pick up your tickets!

 

Speaking of Nerdtacular, it looks like Max (from last week’s show) and a bunch of others are trying to get organized for a Running of the Nerds! There were of course concerns that Salt Lake City IS at altitude (around 4400 feet!), so keep that in mind, but a few die hard folks ARE going to be doing at least a few runs while there!

 

Not sure if we want to call it a reboot, or if we want to call it a new chapter in the life of CapStable, but the podcast brought to you by AIEU has returned to the airwaves! Er...spacewaves? Anyways, if you have any interest in EVE you should check it out!

We don’t know how true it is, but someone who knows someone who might know something says Titan will be based on Earth history, and will include everything from modern weapons to magic, time travel and  heavy use of Greek, Roman, and Viking myths.

The AIE Spring Craft Faire in WoW is now only one short month away! This forum post has all of the details as to where, when and how you can help! This is one of our bigger events that happens 2x a year, and is a great opportunity to get some tradeskills leveled.

 

Nerdtacular update! N13 is 371% funded! And that’s before the ticket sales! If you are interested in heading out there, the forums are full of offers from your fellow guildies to rideshare from various places around the country! You might have to act fast though, it seems the hotels are booking up fast!

 Guild Wars 2 is 30% off until April 1st! And that’s no joke! The game also has a recent store update full of fun spring stuff, and has a name change feature that just released on march 27th! So if you were thinking Guild Wars 2 sounded pretty great from our show last week, jump on the sale!

Do you want to help Lord of the Rings Online improve? Turbine has launched the LOTRO Player Council. Now you can be a part of a select group of players offering advice to the developers, testing out early betas, and bubbling up suggestions and ideas from the rest of the LOTRO community. Hey World of Warcraft players - Enjoying 5.2? Having fun? Well you will be pleased to know it is already old news. The great minds at Blizzard have already announced patch notes for the next patch: 5.3! This patch seems to be more PVP focused, and there is already some ptr action and discussion about the patch going on. And speaking of Blizzard, they also just announced a whole new game, Hearthstone! Hearthstone will be a digital card game that is set to release on PC, Mac, and eventually IOS. You can sign up for the beta now, but no word as of when it will be opening up. The cool thing here is you will be able to challange your friends and fellow guildies through battle.net with real id and battle tags.

Star Trek Online has big news! Their first expansion, ‘Legacy of Romulus’, is due out sometime soon! Star Trek Online is a free to play game, and this expansion is going to be free for all players! The biggest news is that they are adding a third faction, the Romulans, but they are making big changes to existing game play as well! For all the information check out the Star Trek online website!

Andrew Allen’s Kickstarter for ‘Free Play: A Video Game Tribute’ is now halfway there with 23 days to go! I know we can get him there sooner than the actual deadline. The AIE community is gearing up for nerdtacular with several offers to ride share the trip! Shinji2009 is looking for a travel group from Florida while Sindresa is looking for people in California to carpool with! Check out the forums for more details on these expeditions or start your own in the AIE forums.

 

Heading to Nerdtacular? The Kickstarter of course is going rather strong, with the 5th stretch goal getting close to being unlocked at 45000 dollars! There are also various posts in both the AIE Community and Nerdtacular sections of the forums with people trying to arrange carpools, trip-buddies, roadtrips, etc!

 

The folks in Lord of the Rings Online are doing some neat things! VanFlicke and his crew went into Gollum’s domain and have the screenshot to prove it! Get in on this action, remember, LOTRO is Free to Play and AIE is there!

 

Have an itch to log in to SWTOR and swing a lightsaber around, or polish up that Mandalorian armor and catch some bounties? Maybe see what the fine folks in AIE are doing there? Turns out, the next few weekends are a GREAT time to do so. What other game can offer you DOUBLE XP? As far as we can tell, this stacks with rest XP, and cartel boosts as well!

 

There has been concern in some of the guilds surrounding Book of Heroes regarding attendance, flagging interest, etc. Worry not! The GMs are all getting together on Tuesday and are going to try to come up with a plan that makes a bunch more folks happy.

We run our missions Saturday night at 9:30 Eastern.  Level 15+ can participate.  Just Bounties now, but Treks also starting March 30th

Nerdtacular is doing great and looks to be a fantastic show! The kickstarter is sitting at 304% as of this writing! We’re almost to stretch goal 4! If you think you can make it to Utah around July 4th, go give it a look!

We did mention it during last show, as breaking news, but we wanted to remind folks, if you ARE planning on joining the crew in AIE WoW invites are now open all month. AIE doesn’t really distinguish between alts and mains, so release the hounds! Everyone please remember, you do need one UMAMI application PER character.

Dark Lord Pelpatine in our AIE SW:TOR has put another lamb up for the slaugh...er...no. It’s another Ask An Officer! This time up, we have Wagz! Pel is trying to make sure that officers aren’t just faceless names from on high. Ask em some questions!

We are sure our guests are going to talk about it, but the big 5.2 patch is out in world of warcraft! This patch includes many changes such as a new raiding tier, a new daily hub (the isle of giants), many new pets, changes to blacksmithing, classes, and green fire for our warlock friends. for the full patch notes check out the warcraft forums to see what’s going on!

And speaking of patches, 2.2 is out for Rift! Make sure you check it out as it has tons of cool changes to classes and crafting, and also brings a return of the carnival of the ascended! This big event is full of funny hats, minigames, and general rift anniversary celebrations!

Looking for AIE in starcraft? you are in luck! Lanctharus has admitted that he’s created a AIEGC chat channel for those guildies who are looking for AIE in their zerg experience! Just join the AIEGC channel to find your guildies!

Book of Heroes is going to have some changes going on! It sounds like while some of the guilds are struggling, a few of them are doing rather well. Nothing has been set in stone yet, but sn effort is going to be made to get folks of like mights together in guilds. Don’t worry, we’re intending to make the changes fun for all!  Watch the forums for more developments in the minor league section!

Thinking of getting into EVE? The fine folks who are our guests will be going into some more things going on in that world, but this article has some great info and might help kick start your SpreadShips career all the faster! Take a read!

Without getting TOO behind the scenes as to the mails that officer’s get, we HAVE gotten quite a few lately that are asking about realm and faction transfers. So we’d of course love to have more fine folks in AIE, but we strongly encourage people who aren’t QUITE sure yet, to roll a character, apply, and then fall over onto some wolves to get level 10. Poke around a while, say hello to some folks, and decide if AIE is for you.

So during this years Secret Santa event I made some suggestions for gifts I would like, ranging from many fit noobships to shiny T3s and culminating in a “blap” (Louis: blap means a dreadnaught capable of one-shotting, we can that alphaing, battleships and battlecruisers) fit Phoenix if I got a super rich santa. (Louis: A dreadnaught is the class of ship between a battleship, something every pilot will eventually fly, and a titan, something on the crazy fly).  I was fortunate enough to get Alexander Hammond  (Louis: a very rich member of TEST) and he provided me with a phoenix and a plex (Louis: A plex is an in-game item that can be redeemed for 30 days of game time.  Because it’s in-game it can be sold on the market for ISK, right now around 550 million) to outfit it however I chose, and for the express purpose of whelping in some ridiculous fashion.
