Ah yes, the morning got away from me on Friday. It happens. Work first, podcasting second.

Yesterday I spent the morning collecting data for a new 3D modeling project I'm doing. A few hours outside, some fun drone flight, and then a few errands. By the time I was ready to podcast the motivation faded away. So here I am on a Saturday morning explaining myself. :)

Recently I watched a favorite full time RV couple's YouTube video about needing some help from their audience. They were looking for testimonials from viewers to share with potential advertisers. Bottom line? They're trying to earn their full time living with their YouTube channel about living in an RV. Nothing wrong with that. We've all got to earn a living.

I wonder though how many viewers actually make buying decisions based on their favorite Full Time RVers. See, a lot of RV channel followers aren't RVers yet. They're dreaming about it, learning about it, and enjoying following along with other people. But they aren't actually in a position to buy RV related items because they're not in an RV.

In my case, I'm monetizing this podcast and my YouTube channel by offering classes on things that reach a larger audience. And no, I'm not making a true living at it yet. But hard work, plugging away, and slowly growing are part of my strategy.

Ah, busy mornings. Laundry, battery charging, truck packing, and racing off for several hours at a client site. I had no time to do today's recording until I was driving back to the home office. And then I got wrapped up in image selection, video selection, and editing. Here I am at 7:30 p.m. and I'm finally uploading today's podcast.

Apple's recent event left me a little underwhelmed. The new iPad Pros, the new Mac Mini, and the updated Macbook Air. In the end my response could be summed up in one word.

Meh.

I've never considered myself a "power user," but I do a lot of things other Apple buyers don't do. I podcast, edit videos, created 3D drone maps, edit photos, and more. So I suppose from that perspective I'm more of a power user than most. And the recent updates to Apple's lineup just aren't crying out to me.

Here's hoping by the time I have to replace my current computer Apple will get back on track and start really innovating once again.

Yes, last week I failed to pop up the Tech Talk Thursday podcast, and the random Friday podcast. Thursday's excuse is a simple one. The day got away from me. Friday's excuse.

Last year on my YouTube Chanel I talked about over winter in an RV, specifically my Airstream. I thought I'd follow up on that conversation today as I woke up to 33 degrees outside this morning. The Airstream floors were extra cold, and I woke right up the moment my feet touched the floor.

The number one way to be comfortable in an RV for the winter? Head south! This is the time of year to visit Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, and all the hidden gems in Southern Arizona. It's not called a mobile home for nothing!

This is a tech talk / work talk Tuesday episode. Over the years I've met many full time RV'ers who try to make a living doing photography while on the road. Often they realize (too late) that they're priced to low for the services they offer, and they end up looking for alternative revenue streams. I'm one of those people myself. I moved away from private portraits to commercial work, as I could request my actual value in commercial situations.

So, why is professional photography still "so expensive" even with the advent of digital photography? We talk about that in today's episode.

Today's episode is a story from days gone by. It's the story of how I went from being a Graduate student in Economics to being a network design engineer in the wireless telecommunications industry. It's a weird story, and I always felt like I was in a Dilbert Cartoon.

This story leads to other stories and how I went from being an engineer to owning my own small business and living full time in the Airstream. Over the course of future podcasts we'll continue the story of the weird roads we go down in life.
