  • How To Let Go Of The Past
Hey friend, KJ Simpson here, author of the Amazon number one bestseller, The All-Inclusive Diet. I help people cultivate energy, restore balance, and keep the weight off. Have you ever wondered how much your childhood has affected your adulthood? • Surrendering Your Secrets, Overcoming Addiction, and Winning
Surrendering Your Secrets, Overcoming Addiction, and Winning Have you ever felt like a personal fraud? Perhaps you were giving a friend relationship advice while your romantic life was falling apart. Or maybe you were offering your sister some assistance with her history homework when you refused to ask for help in economics. Or there was a time when you were asked to be on a panel about your success in business, but secretly, you were struggling to pay your own bills. I’ve been there. When I first started my business–coaching quarter-lifer’s in their careers–I barely had enough to pay rent, eat beans, and keep up my appearance for my next meeting. Who was I to be giving someone advice? I was barely even happy most of the time, because not only could I barely take care of myself, but my situation made me feel like a personal fraud. Who was I to be giving advice when it seemed to be working out so poorly in my own life? Our guest today has been there, too. At one point in his life, Kris Simpson was a successful health, wellness, and fitness professional. He was a body-builder who had just won a national championship. He was a husband and had a life to be envied. He was also… an addict. As Kris says, “you’re only as sick as your secrets.” Today, Kris is a decorated best-selling author and over 5 years sober. His life and business have completely changed. He lives honestly, authentically, and vulnerably, both personally and professionally. I had the joy and honor of interviewing Kris about his personal transformation and how embracing surrender, fighting fraud, and learning the true meaning of “winning” have made all the difference in his life and in the lives of those he teaches. Without any further ado, I give you, Kris Simpson! http://tracytimm.com/tyl-37-surrendering-your-secrets-overcoming-addiction-and-winning-with-kris-simpson/

  • An Interview with Jim Sheils | Balancing Business with Parenting
My guest Jim Sheils owns a highly successful real estate investment company and is also the entrepreneur behind Board Meetings, which helps busy high performers and executives foster a deeper connection with their children and families. In our chat Jim offers some words of wisdom on staying focused on what is important in life, and how to use your entrepreneurial skills to maintain quality relationships with the people closest to you. Jim states in this interview that the key to achieving balance as an entrepreneur or executive is to first determine what is most important in your life. Meditation is an excellent way to eliminate distractions and focus on what’s most important. The clarity you achieve will enable you to say ‘no’ to opportunities that lead you in the wrong direction and will prevent you from chasing too many things. “The biggest thing that I overcame was being OK with what I was good at” Jim also stresses that entrepreneurs need to understand not only their strengths, but their weaknesses as well. Staying true to the areas where you excel will help to simplify your life and will keep you from being drawn to new opportunities where you are less likely to find success. Crabs in a Bucket All crabs in a bucket will try to escape. When one almost makes it out, however, the others grab it and bring it down. These “crabs in a bucket” tend to come about at critical moments in our life. Right when you are on the verge of a major decision, someone will inevitably come out and try to pull you back into the bucket by discouraging you. However, it is not worth getting distracted by them unless you know them, trust them, and they are an expert in the area they are advising in. Put simply, “If you want to learn how to make bread, go to a baker. Don’t go to a butcher.” ABOUT BOARD MEETINGS The idea behind Board Meetings came to Jim as a young entrepreneur. In his mid 20s, older entrepreneurs confided in him that they weren’t spending enough time with their children. Thus, the idea for Board Meetings was born. The first goal of Board Meetings is to bring back the basic idea of quality time. Designed for entrepreneur families, the company hosts retreats and teaches high performers how to conduct ‘board meetings’ with their children. Board Meetings retreats typically include 15 to 20 parent-child couples and focus on three areas: Personal Development, Financial Intelligence, and Relationship Skills. The goals of the retreat are to foster family bonding, as well as give entrepreneurs an opportunity to teach their children the lessons they’ve learned from their business and life – these are the kinds of lessons kids don’t get at school. • An interview on Become the Lion with Kris J Simpson on Overcoming Adversity
Kris a world class life coach and best-selling author. Kris will share with you the adversities he had to overcome in order to be successful! Kris’s story starts when had to go to rehab for drug and alcohol addiction. For almost his entire life, he’d been telling himself the wrong story. Kris had been trying to find fame and fortune. This lead him to lose his soul, morals, and ethics. The reason Kris was on the podcast with us today is because he surrendered. He surrendered to who he had become and realized he needed to shake up his life or else it wasn’t going to end well. Kris achieved a total lifestyle transformation. He learned to strive for progress over perfection. Throughout most of his life, Kris had been immature in every area. To get over his immaturity he had to become open, willing, and honest. Kris realized that we’ve been taught to not have faith in others when it should be the exact opposite. He had been afraid of judgment. It wasn’t until released himself that he could become the person he was meant to be. Most people hide from their fears. Kris was different, he did some deep soul searching to find out the fears he had so he could conquer them. With Kris’s improved life he shows more gratitude, focus’s on the present, and let goes of resentment. He uses the serenity prayer in his everyday life and even has it tattooed on himself. Social media can bring up more anxiety in your life and Kris saw this firsthand with himself and his girlfriend. Kris is an unusual coach where he trains his clients to create small wins and not to challenge themselves too much as it can lead to burnout rather quickly when you’re trying to make a drastic change. In this episode, you’ll also learn: How to come to terms with your fears. Why you need to take time for yourself. Why you should ask for help. How to control your emotions. Why you should meditate.

  • Understanding Food Labels
Learning how to read and understand food labels can help you make healthier choices. Let Kris J. Simpson, author of All Inclusive Diet, train you on how to buy the healthiest food by understanding the nutrition on food labels. Three steps to understanding the Nutrition Facts on Food Labels: serving size, daily value and ingredients. 1. Serving Size Serving sizes are standardized to make it easier to compare similar foods; they are provided in familiar units, such as cups or pieces, followed by the metric amount. Compare the serving size on the package to the amount that you eat. If you eat the serving size shown on the Nutrition Facts Table, you will get the amount of calories and nutrients that are listed. 2. Daily Value % Daily Value puts nutrients on a scale from 0% to 100%. This scale tells you if there is a little or a lot of a nutrient in one serving of a particular food. Use the 5-15 rule. 5-15% is basically the spectrum or the range of carbs, fats, and proteins that you should be consuming. Use this percentage to compare the nutrient content of different foods you enjoy. 3. Ingredients When looking at the ingredients, you should opt for foods that contain more fibre, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium. What you want to see less of is sodium, cholesterol, saturated fat, trans fat, and tropical fat such as palm oil or kernel oil. Always remember, if you can't pronounce it, denounce it. It's as simple as that.

  • How to stop procrastinating
S.M.A.R.T. SHIFT! Introducing the 7 Day S.M.A.R.T. SHIFT, this is an unconventional approach to goal setting and achieving consistent wins. When we accumulate wins and continually achieve the goals that we set for ourselves, it keeps us in positive momentum. Simple/Stupid - overly realistic goals. Measurable - make it super specific so you can measure your success over a seven-day period. Accessible - you have everything you need to get started today. Rewardable - we typically forget to celebrate our wins and successes. Team up - we need to team up for support and accountability. S.M.A.R.T. SHIFTs also reframe your focus. Remember that we’re working on a big puzzle by putting your 5-Facets back together and this will possibly be one of the most challenging lifestyle changes that you will ever work on in your life. Rather than becoming overwhelmed by these major lifestyle changes, I would like you to focus on one piece of the puzzle or one small shift at a time. When these shifts accumulate, which happens quite quickly, they progressively change our preexisting habits and patterns. Example: My goal is to eat more vegetables on a daily basis. Simple/Stupid – I will eat three servings of vegetables per day for seven days. Measurable – Each serving will be one cup. Accessible – I will go grocery shopping today and buy the vegetables. Rewardable – When I accomplish this goal I will reward myself by buying a new outfit. Team up – I will ask a family or friend to do the 7-day shift with me.
