On Episode 30 of The Anecdote, we  fly solo with no guest and chat NHL, Premier League, CFL and NCAA Football. 

We start with some soccer talk, including LUKAKU to Wes' Chelsea Blues, Messi to PSG and Rieger's Spurs win over defending champions Man City. Arsenal is in shambles, and is Villa not sexy anymore??

Moving to CFL, the Stampeders have come crawling out of the gate to an 0-2 start,  Luc Mullinder teed off on Bo Levi Mitchell, the Bombers continue to roll and our Riders look very good to start the season. 

After a Pay it Forward from Logan, we jump into some NHL offseason talk. Monster contracts passed out this summer, Defencemen getting rich, and goalies switching cities are at the top of the docket. We move to Jack Eichel, Kirill Kaprizov, and vaccination requirements before touching briefly on the Olympics and a shout to former guest Alex Blair Clarke who will be working the line at the Women's World Championships. 

Our last topic of discussion is the NCAA Football which will be getting underway August 28, where we focus on the potential "super-conference", Heisman trophy betting odds, the AP Preseason rankings and some Canadian content to follow in the upcoming season.

We lead off the episode with an intro of the hosts before jumping right in to a Roughrider camp  update after the first week. We talk about the injury bug that hit the team early, some early camp standouts and the holdout of LJ McCray.

On Episode 25 of The Anecdote, we are joined by CFL All Star and Saskatchewan Roughriders Safety Mike Edem. Before the interview, Brett Jesse and Logan talk our weekend plans, Father's Day celebrations, and the recently ratified vote allowing the CFL to officially move forward with a 14 game 2021 CFL season.  We discuss the Riders schedule to start the year, the new addition of Deon Lacey to the linebacker group, and whether or not we think the stadium will be full come August 6th. 

Following a Pay it Forward from Maddog, we jump into the interview with Mike Edem. We discuss Mike's early life in Lagos Nigeria, his introduction to football, a turbulent CIS career split between McGill and Calgary, and the CFL draft where Mike went 3rd overall. We move to his career as a professional football player, starting in Montreal and moving to Hamilton and BC  before finding a home in Regina under coach Chris Jones. WE finish up talking about the swagged out Roughrider DB room, the hurdles of the return to play, and finish up with Mike talking about his project, Timeout Athletics and his Pay it Forward. 

Following the interview, we recap the chat with Mike, including the Chip Cox reaction and the newest addition to the Rider defensive backfield, U of S alumni Nelson Lokombo who was selected 2nd overall in CFL entry draft.

On episode 24 on The Anecdote, we dive back into some hockey talk following the conclusion of the division playoff rounds before welcoming our guest, international hockey referee Alex Clark.

After introducing the hosts, Jesse, Logan and Brett talk about all things NHL playoffs including a look back at our bracket (yikes), our predictions for the conference finals, some Conn Smythe front runners, and the scrutiny the refs have been under in the playoffs so far. 

Brett presents a Pay it Forward before we get into our interview with Alex Clarke. Alex was born and raised in Drake, and is currently a resident of Weyburn SK who played college hockey in U.S. before pursuing her passion in officiating. We talk the culture around reffing while growing up in the game, what the steps through the officiating world look like, and how Alex is graded by the IIHF. We discuss managing the game, Alex's goal in her officiating career, and memorable stories from Alex's time on the ice. 

Following the interview, we discuss the upcoming NHL award nominees and make our picks, before Jesse presents a heart-felt Local Guy of the Week.

George and Logan vibe Spurs, we touch on both Aston Villa and Chelsea, and talk UEFA EURO with George. The interview also covers everything English football, we talk about what exactly a content creator does, and what George thinks a perfect soccer trip across the pond would look like for the Anecdote crew.
