On Episode 22 (actually 21) of The Anecdote, Jesse Brett and Logan kick things off talking a little NHL playoffs, focusing on our teams the Leafs, Oilers and Avalanche. We move into the Champions League title match that took place on Saturday, before Logan Presents his Pay it Forward.

Our guest this week is Muenster Saskatchewan native Logan Hofmann, a 5th round pick in the most recent MLB draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, the highest SK born player ever selected. We talk about Logan's life in Sask baseball, his favorite park in the province, his journey through Junior College and Division 1 NCAA, and is decision to go back to college after being selected in the 35th round originally. We wrap up the interview with some rapid fire questions, including Logan's favorite baseball movie, dugout snack and best Cajun food.   

Following the interview, we talk some MLB baseball focused on the Blue Jays and the AL East, and the young guns taking the league by storm in Ronald Acuna, Shohei Ohtani, Vlad Guererro and Fernando Tatis. 

We present our Local Guy of the Week, and finish off the episode with Alternate Lines presented by TB's Bar and Grill.

On Episode 20 of The Anecdote we welcome on Thomas Hartle, a Saskatoon native who was the first person in Canada to be approved for the medical use of psilocybin.  Psilocybin is the active ingredient in "magic mushrooms". We talk with Thomas about his journey battling terminal cancer, how he had to lobby for his own medical trial of this substance, and how he has used macro dosing of this psychedelic drug to help treat his end of life anxiety.  

On Episode 19 of The Anecdote, we talk a little hockey. After intros and our Mother's Day  weekend recaps, we start it off with some Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews and Rangers/Capitals line brawl discussion.  

Following a Pay it Forward from Wes, we begin our interview with Humboldt Broncos alum and author of Crossroads, Kaleb Dahlgren. We discuss Kaleb's book, his hockey journey through Saskatchewan including stops in North Battleford, Notre Dame and Humboldt. We focus a lot on Kaleb's life following the bus crash, including his time at York University, his dreams of becoming a chiropractor, his involvement in the recruiting aspect of Usports hockey, and his recent decision to retire from hockey. The interview wraps up with some hilarious stories from Kaleb's childhood, and Kaleb presents his own Pay it Forward. 

After speaking with Kaleb, the hosts chat the recent U18 hockey tournament in Texas and discuss our next guest, Davidson, SK native and U18 gold medalist Nolan Allan. 

Logan presents a Pay it Forward, before bringing Nolan on for a quick discussion. We discuss Nolan's childhood, his decision to play for the Saskatoon Blazers, being drafted by the PA Raiders, the WHL Bubble, recent U18 tournament, and of course the hit seen around the world in the gold medal game. 

Following our second guest, Jesse Brett and Logan do our own Anecdote mini playoff bracket, where we decide who we believe will be crowned champions of the 4 NHL divisions following the first two rounds of the playoffs. 

After presenting our Local Gals of the Week, we wrap up with our Alternate Lines segment presented by TB's Bar and Grill in Watrous.

On Episode 18 of The Anecdote, we are pleased to announce the first installment of Beef Week. We will be splitting this episode into two parts, the second of which will be coming on Thursday May 6. 

After introducing the hosts, we walk through the quarterly board meeting which took place on the golf course, the winner of the match is up for debate. Following the intros, we talk a little bit about what Beef Week is, talk about our guest in Part 1 of Episode 18 and then present a Pay it Forward. 

Ian Crosbie, founder of Saskatchewan Snow Beef joins us at the 8:59 mark to discuss exactly what Sask Snow Beef is. Snow Beef is a cross breed of female Holstein cattle and the male Wagyu bull which hails from Japan. The beef is bred, born and raised in Saskatchewan, and as Ian said, it is "the best bite of beef you'll find in Saskatchewan". Ian is the only cattle farmer in Saskatchewan currently using Wagyu genetics. We talk marketing, pasture management, dairy and finishing programs before having Ian present a Pay it Forward of his own. We discuss some WHL and NHL hockey with Ian before letting him go.

In Episode 17 of The Anecdote Jesse, Brett and Logan tackle this episode without a guest, and discuss Football around the World. 

After our intros, we start off with Super League talk, as some of the bigger soccer clubs around Europe decided to branch off and create their own league. We discuss the American influence in this situation, how the fans may have stopped this, and what the future of these clubs looks like now that the Super League fell apart. 

Jesse presents the first Pay it Forward of the episode, and then we dive into some NFL Draft talk. We talk team needs and potential targets for the top 10 teams, what some potential trade up scenarios could look like, where the QBs will fall and what our favorite teams will look to do on Thursday April 29th. 

Logan gives our second Pay it Forward, before diving into some CFL discussion on a potential return to play slated for August. Could the Eastern teams potentially come play out West until the restrictions loosen out East? 

After presenting our Local Guy of the Week, we quickly discuss some High School Football in Saskatchewan and the current landscape around that return to play plan. 

We wrap up with our Alternate Lines gambling picks, including action on the NFL Draft, the EPL and the NHL.

On Episode 15 of The Anecdote, the hosts are pleased to welcome NLL MVP and Saskatchewan Rush forward Mark Matthews. 

Before the interview, we talk Taylor Swift, Rieger's pickup soccer game and our new apparel drop this week, including hats and hoodies! Westman shares his Pay it Forward for the week before jumping into the interview. 

After welcoming on Mark Matthews, we roll through his life growing up in the GTA, his decision to choose between hockey and lacrosse, and his lacrosse days at the University of Denver. We move on to his days as a member of the Rush, the move from Edmonton to Saskatoon, the two championships in 2016 and 2018 and why the boys call it "Sask Vegas". We finish up talking about Mark's career as a real estate agent, his love for fishing and the outdoors, and Mark shares a Pay it Forward of his own before taking off. 

Following the interview, Jesse shares a Local Guy of the Week, and we jump into some NHL Trade deadline talk including the moves of Taylor Hall, Nick Foligno, Anthony Mantha and David Savard.

On Episode 14 of The Anecdote, Jesse, Brett and Logan start with some Saskatchewan football talk. The hosts discuss CIS football and a potential CFL-XFL merger. Next up we chat about the Sam Darnold trade to the Carolina Panthers, and somehow Don Cherry enters the discussion. 

Following a Pay it Forward, our interview with U of S Huskies football head coach Scott Flory. Scott is a two time Vanier Cup Champion as a player with the Huskies, three time Grey Cup Champion, nine time CFL All Star and former President of the CFLPA. Throughout the interview we touch on Scotts career as a player with the Huskies, his run with Anthony Calvillo and Don Matthews in Montreal, and why he was only a Saskatchewan Roughrider for six days. Getting more current, we go through how the current team has stayed together throughout the pandemic, discuss some of the stars on his current team, and the pipeline of players coming through our province, including the 6 and 9 man programs.  Wrapping up the interview, Scott presents a Pay it Forward of his own. 

After recapping the interview, Jesse gives our Local Guy of the Week and we touch on the future of Saskatchewan Junior Hockey.
