Is there a correlation between Sadness and Procrastination?
For me, it is clear yes! When it comes to feeling emotions that are hard to feel, Sadness is most of the time on top of the list.
But what happens when we push sadness away? When we push sadness away, it will affect other areas of our life as a way to bring awareness to what we didn't allow ourselves to feel.
For me it showed as a strong resistance to move forward with my goals without interrupting myself constantly. How I realized that sadness was holding me back? Through self-awareness. When we bring awareness to patterns and behaviors we can look at them and shift them. For me it was questioning why I had so much resistance moving forward with projects close to my heart? The answer was clear over time: When I sat down to work on something that would bring me joy, it would also connect me back to pain. This created a lot of resistance because sadness started screaming at me once it was just me on my laptop with my thoughts.
How I shifted it? By sitting with sadness. So much sadness.. This isn't an easy task but it is necessary. Because the moment you work through an emotion like sadness that is blocking you, you free yourself of what is blocking you and finally move forward.
Maybe it is sadness holding you back? Allow yourself to sit with it. What may look on the surface like procrastination might actually be an emotion you suppressed.
If you have a hard time sitting with sadness or bringing awareness to unserving patterns, let's work together.
