The Apocalypse of Peter, an early Christian writing once read in some churches, describes a horrific vision of the afterlife—where sinners suffer according to their deeds. Some early Church Fathers, including St. Clement of Alexandria, considered it inspired Scripture, however the Church concluded is was not and excluded it from the Bible.
