Carl Lee III was not heavily recruited out of high school by D1 teams. He accepted an offer from Marshall University in Huntington WVa. He was from Charleston WVa so Marshall was the obvious choice. He won a total of 8 games in his 4 years there. He was drafted in the 7th round by the Vikings. He was told he was too small, too slow to make it in the NFL. He was cut before his rookie year started, but was brought back in 4 days because of an injury to the player above him on the depth chart. 12 years later Carl is recognized as one of the 50 greatest Minnesota Vikings of ALL TIME! Carl’s is a wonderful story on what a person can accomplish if they don’t believe the naysayers. And Carl has some terrific insights into his golf game too. Another fantastic interview with one of the world;s most interesting people, Carl Lee III this week on The Approach Shot Podcast.Support the show

J Marc Chambers is a comedian and a golfer. He has friends that are comedians and golfers. They decided to create a business that incorporates both golf and comedy. Add to those two the element of fundraising and you have their business, Hole Hecklers. J Marc and his friends will come out to your golf outing, charity scramble, even a client appreciation day, and set up shop on a par 3 hole. Unless they are paid by the golfers (to raise funds for the charity involved with the golf outing) they will heckle the golfers as they try to tee off. It is impossible to hit a good shot while you are laughing your ass off. Trust us, we’ve tried. You can also pay extra to get your buddy heckled mercilessly. It’s fun. It’s funny. And it’s a great way to raise some money on the golf course for a worthwhile cause. It also makes for one helluva funny hour of gold podcast. Listen now to J Marc Chambers from Hole Hecklers, this week’s guest on The Approach Shot Podcast.Support the show

Matthew Laurance is our guest this week on The Approach Shot Podcast. Yes, the same Matthew Laurance you remember from Beverly Hills 90210; from Eddie And The Cruisers”; from guest appearances on “Cheers” and countless other TV guest shots. Plus, he was on SNL of an entire year. Matthew Laurence currently does radio in Lexington, Kentucky and plays lots and lots of golf: bad golf. Yeah, for someone who plays as often as does he, you think he’s play a lot better, but no, he sucks! Yes, as a golfer Matthew is a great actor. But he does have lots of great stories and you are about to hear a bunch of them. Funny, heart warming, and some embarrassing stories this week on the Approach Shot podcast.Support the show

Garrett Johnston has covered golf for outlets around the world for more than a decade, including the hometown papers of most players on the PGA Tour. He also has contributed to GolfDigest.com, Golf.com, USOpen.com, China Daily, The Irish Examiner and New Zealand Golf Magazine. Sadly, he has not improved his golf handicap since he left high school, and covering 30 major championship hasn’t helped him through osmosis. But he does regale us this week with some terrific stories from some of the most prestigious golf tournament that he is lucky enough to cover. We coax the good stuff from him. Listen and enjoy.Support the show

Bob Picozzi is a television and radio announcer who was employed by ESPN and Fox Sports as a play-by-play announcer for college football and basketball. You are familiar with his voice if you ever listened to Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio, he is the man with the updates. His coolest gig though, in our own humble yet never-the-less expert opinions was the Play By Play guy for UConn Women’s Basketball. Unless you could have called the UCLA games in the 70’s with Coach Wooden, you will not find a team with more wins, more championships than UConn Women. Bob has been there for some of the greatest moments in sports. He also has some very cool golf stories. Listen to them all this episode of The Approach Shot.Support the show
