In this, the first in a series of interviews recorded live at the New Zealand 2021 Collaborationz event Neville interviews Internationally recognised glass artist Shona Firman. As a founding member of the collaborationz event Shona explains how the collaboration movement came to be and who were the people who made it possible. Neville talks to Bruce Fergus about the mind shift needed to move from being a Craft’s person to an Artist. They look at Bruces own journey as a wood turner turned (sorry) wood sculptor. Bruce explains how he thinks about art, the consumers and tips from his journey that may help others understand the mindset he uses when he makes his art.

In this show Neville and Jason Hale Tillman discuss what it is to be an artist. Jason’s explains his world view and how being an artist looks in his life. There is a wonderful mix of ideas when Jason compares the skills and processes of an architect to those of a sculptor and how he has found his place in the art world.

Janis has worked with Neville in 3 different galleries since 2012 and together they have represented hundreds of artists working in all manner of materials, sizes and price ranges. In this show Neville and Janis look at the question “ What is an Artist” and “How do you define an artist.”. Together Neville and Sarah explore the world of a public gallery curatorial role. They look at it’s similarities and differences to a private dealer galleries way of dealing with artists and the benefits and features of being represented by a public gallery. Sarah explains how shows are planned, how to approach a public gallery, what the galleries offer and what they expect from an artist. All in all this was a wonderfully informative interview with so much information Neville decided to not edit it but split it in two so nothing would be lost. This is part two,episode 32
