A ‘Tales from Collab’ interview where Neville talks with Maike about how a she found her way to the 2009 Collaborationz NZ in Whangarei. They explore the cultural differences and what it’s like to be new to a country and trying to find your way into a creative community, what collab did to help and what possibilities Maike sees in the future. Maike has been in NZ for 15 years now and she shares how those first bonds built at the first and subsequent collaborations have enriched and helped her creative journey.

This recording was made in a temporary studio space kindly made available by the committee of the Whangarei Collaborationz event a bi-annual multi media artist collaboration. They talk about Paul’s creative journey, What excites him and how he found his way into the collab family. Paul has years of experience and a very unique and interesting way of connecting with his making experience. The medium of wood has a strong place in the craft movement but Paul is forging a career showing people the value of wood in the fine art arena. In this episode Neville interviews Trish Clarke, designer, sculptor and multi media artist who is also a committee member of the bi- annual Collaborationz Collaboration event in Whangarei NZ. Collaborationz.co.nz .They talk about sculpting in steel as well as what its like to be on the committee of an international art event.

Neville sits down in a little cabin at the NZ Collaborationz event in Whangarei in 2021 and interviews Irwin Seyb, blacksmith, wood turner, multi media artist and all round solid bloke. This was a stirring and emotional conversation where Irwin a usually reserved and private man opens up and talks about the value of the Collab family and how the friendships and connections formed at the Collaborationz events helped him through some trying times. The conversation is compfortable and honest and Irwin brings light to another aspect of what everyone gains by opening up and engaging in a collaborative journey.

Neville interviews Bill live at the NZ Collaborationz event in 2021. Bill is an award winning teacher, jeweller, sculptor and more. He spent a great part of his life teaching shop in schools where he specialised in troubled youth. The demanding classroom environment helped Bill hone his communication and development skills as well as enabling him to become highly skilled at a raft of media. Bill and Neville talk about how these skills help in a Collab environment and what Bill receives from his collaborative experiences.

Neville talked with Rebecca Asquith about her professional ND creative journey as well as how she sees and navigates collaborationz. Rebecca has worked as a chief model maker in a number of Hollywood blockbusters and as such is used to being in a large team of creatives but even that didn’t prepare her for Collab… listen as Neville and Rebecca explore her thoughts about her art and the Collab experience.
