On the early hours of Sunday a residential building caught fire on the corner of Commissioner and Nugget streets in Johannesburg’s CBD and at least 15 people were rescued, four others were rushed to hospital and two people lost their lives. At the time of the blaze the building in the Johannesburg CBD had been hijacked and housed hundreds of people and more than 200 families. The tragedy saw 77 lives lost and 61 people injured. Raymond Mhlaba Secondary in Tshepisong, Roodepoort, has been receiving an unbelievable track record in matric for a decade now. Since producing its first group of matriculants in 2012, the school has never scored less than 96% pass rate. The class of 2023 obtained 100% pass rate and this evening were joined by Ms Angie Mokiti, Principal of Raymond Mhlaba Secondary School.
