The biggest difference between DC/EP and existing cryptocurrencies is their legal status. The DC/EP can be used as a payment mechanism and is acceptable as legal tender, but the legality of using cryptocurrencies to pay for goods and services in China is still unclear.
Besides this, there are two other main points of difference between DC/EP and cryptocurrencies available in the market. The first one relates to decentralization. Cryptocurrencies are decentralized, meaning their economics and supply are not controlled by a single entity. In contrast, the levers for the digital yuan will be firmly controlled by China's government.
The second difference between a standard cryptocurrency and the digital yuan is anonymity. The former is anonymous, in varying degrees depending on the coin, while the latter is not. As mentioned earlier, the Chinese government will be able to track the currency moving through its economy and monitor its usage.
First, the digital currency will enable the Chinese government to better track the flow of money through its economy and make better planning decisions. Cash remains the dominant mode of transaction for payments in China, but new forms of payment that leapfrog card system have become extremely popular in recent times. These new payment methods rely on digital transfers of money using an assortment of technology intermediaries including mobile devices, QR codes, and token systems.
Payment firms like Alibaba Group Holding Limited's (BABA) AliPay and Tencent Holdings Limited's (TCEHY) WeChat are at the forefront of this change. A digital yuan fits in nicely with this transformation. It also serves the government's needs because digital tokens are easier to track than cash.
Second, a digital yuan will enable China to bring its unbanked population into the mainstream economy. China has the largest figure for people without access to a bank, and a digital currency will enable more of them to participate in the mainstream economy without expensive banking products and infrastructure.
A third benefit of the digital yuan is that it might help propel the renminbi to international reserve status. After the financial crisis more than a decade ago, international bankers and economists have increasingly discussed the possibility of a replacement to the U.S. dollar for international trade. As the main mode of transaction in the world's second biggest economy, China's currency should be a natural contender for the spot. However, the U.S. dollar still accounts for 88.3% of all international settlement transactions while the renminbi has only 4%.

"By 2060, people like you or I will be able to buy it, and by 2070 people in poor countries on modest incomes will be able to buy it.
"Everyone will have a chance to have immortality, a sort of electronic immortality.
"After 10, 15, 20 years, the price comes down to hundreds of pounds, rather than millions.
"It could be provided as part of the NHS. You might be able to buy premium offerings on a private subscription, or you might get a basic presence on a network and be allowed to use an android body."
Dr. Pearson says we'll have to limit the number of android bodies people can own, however.
"You might be given one free on the NHS, but you might be limited to no more than two or three.
"Rich people that can afford it would probably want to have loads of different bodies, and if your mind is online, there's nothing to stop them replicating it millions of times over.
"You wouldn't want to live in a world where there are millions of Kardashians walking around, where they can afford to do it and nobody else can.
"We would need to limit the number of bodies for environmental impact.
"Imaging taking everybody in the UK. Once the economics allows everyone to have 10 bodies each, there would be 600 million people living here."
But if our minds are online, do we even need robot bodies? We could all just live in a computer simulation quite happily, according to Dr. Pearson.
"You could spend most of your time online in the virtual world, of course anywhere in the world on any computer.
"If you're online all the time, you could have a fantastic life online. It would be all virtual, so you could have anything you want. 72 virgins if that's what drives you; all of that, because it's totally imaginary.
"You could make as much fun as you could possibly imagine online. You might still want to come into the real world.
You could link your mind to millions of other minds, and have unlimited intelligence, and be in multiple places at once.
The tricky bit is surviving until the technology becomes widely available.
"By 2050, it will only really be for the rich and famous.
"Most people on middle-class incomes and reasonable working-class incomes can probably afford this in the 2060s. So anyone 90 or under by 2060.
"If you were born sometime in 1970 onwards, that would make you 48 this year. So anybody under 50 has got a good chance of it, and anyone under 40 almost definitely will have access to this.
"Most of your readers are probably going to live forever," Dr. Pearson tells us.
"You can take any android body and they will look human-like, and download whatever mind you want. You could share one with someone else, or have one yourself, or own dozens of them.
"You might even have ones of different genders and different ages, some old, young, female, male – there might be new genders by 2050 as well, so several other ones you can pick too."
He explains that we'll have to wait until around "2045, 2050" before we'll be able to create these strong brain-to-machine links, and says the cost will be very high initially.
The first people to use robot bodies to become immortal will be the rich, but then "the price will gradually come down."

The United States is generally considered to be a capitalist country, while many Scandinavian and Western European countries are considered socialist democracies. In reality, however, most developed countries—including the U.S.—employ a mixture of socialist and capitalist programs.
Capitalism is an economic system under which private individuals own and control businesses, property, and capital—the “means of production.” The volume of goods and services produced is based on a system of “supply and demand,” which encourages businesses to manufacture quality products as efficiently and inexpensively as possible.
In the purest form of capitalism—free market or laissez-faire capitalism—individuals are unrestrained in participating in the economy. They decide where to invest their money, as well as what to produce and sell at what prices. True laissez-faire capitalism operates without government controls. In reality, however, most capitalist countries employ some degree of government regulation of business and private investment.
Capitalist systems make little or no effort to prevent income inequality. Theoretically, financial inequality encourages competition and innovation, which drive economic growth. Under capitalism, the government does not employ the general workforce. As a result, unemployment can increase during economic downturns. Under capitalism, individuals contribute to the economy based on the needs of the market and are rewarded by the economy based on their personal wealth.
Socialism describes a variety of economic systems under which the means of production are owned equally by everyone in society. In some socialist economies, the democratically elected government owns and controls major businesses and industries. In other socialist economies, production is controlled by worker cooperatives. In a few others, individual ownership of enterprise and property is allowed, but with high taxes and government control.
The mantra of socialism is, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his contribution.” This means that each person in society gets a share of the economy’s collective production—goods and wealth—based on how much they have contributed to generating it. Workers are paid their share of production after a percentage has been deducted to help pay for social programs that serve “the common good.”
In contrast to capitalism, the main concern of socialism is the elimination of “rich” and “poor” socio-economic classes by ensuring an equal distribution of wealth among the people. To accomplish this, the socialist government controls the labor market, sometimes to the extent of being the primary employer. This allows the government to ensure full employment even during economic downturns.

Wow, this is great. I just picked up my phone and started filming little clips of my day. Just some behind the scenes of what it looks like being a luxury picnic planner. In about thirty minutes, my phone would not stop ringing. We were both screaming on the phone. I just kept refreshing her video and seeing all these comments and likes flooding in. Hi, I'm Jocelyn Chin, I'm 24 years old. And I'm Coco Chan, I'm 25 years old. And we're the co-founders of Picnic and Chill. This actually this person just uh submitted a large group inquiry about a gender reveal for twenty people. I think it looks like we are free on that day. We do also take a lot of bigger parties so we do take, you know, bachelorettes, baby showers, all these really fun events and those go up to, you know, a thousand to 2,000 depending on how many guests and how many add ons. Then you'll just have her set prepared for her to pick up. We still wanted to do something, you know, special for her and we decided to throw her a picnic and Coco and I do love, you know, making things really cute. And we got really good feedback from our friends and family so then we just started, you know, doing some more for our close friends. We're like, maybe we should turn this into a business. I was laid off and now it's my side hustle turned main hustle so this is my full-time job. After we went viral on TikTok, that was when I was kind of thinking back like how like is this gonna become, you know, my main hustle now and my day job was really taking a lot of time away from me focusing on my picnic business and as I saw, you know, more followers, more bookings, I realized, you know, maybe I should take this time and concentrate on my picnic business because it really is going somewhere.

Cash is still relevant, but cash is no longer king,
although people in this country and around the world do continue to use
cash to purchase things every day, that is decreasing.
Electronic payments have cannibalized checks.
Card payments have grown, but cash remains king.
Two thirds of transactions under ten dollars are done in cash.
Although data surrounding COVID's impact on cash has yet to be reported,
the pandemic is expected to cause a drastic decline in cash usage due to
the risk of contamination.
The unprecedented surge in the demand for contactless payment has also
shown outstanding performances from major companies offering cashless
payment methods like Apple, Square, and PayPal.
You're seeing digital payments in this crisis
move from being a nice-to-have capability to a must-have essential
service. Whether it is credit or debit or prepaid cards or
peer to peer services like PayPal or Venmo or others,
we're seeing a corresponding increase in digital transactions as we're
seeing a decrease in the use of cash.
So could Covid signal the end of cash in the United States?
And can the U.S. really function without physical currency?
Nearly a third of U.S.
adults say they make no purchases using cash during a typical week.
The share of people who say that all or almost all of their weekly
purchases are made by cash dropped from 24 percent in 2015 to
18 percent in 2018.
In 2019, the Federal Reserve found that most cashless methods of
transactions, including debit cards and mobile payments, increased in the
past two years compared to cash and check payments, which showed a
decrease in the same time period.
I never carry around cash.
So I use Apple Pay at the Bodegas, for example, when I'm
getting groceries, for most of my purchases.
I don't use that necessarily for like electricity bills,
for dinner bills.
That's when I would use Venmo or Cash app.
Despite the rise in electronic methods of payment, experts say that cash
isn't a force to be reckoned with.
There is a false narrative that Americans are using cash less
now than ever before.
In point of fact, cash in circulation continues to grow strongly.
What you've seen happen are electronic forms of payment, taking
other electronic forms of payment or checks out of the
system. Cash transactions are still dominant.
Cash is the second most used form of payment in America today after debit
cards. Millennials are the ones leading the charge toward a cashless
future. A report from Experian in 2019 revealed that one in 10
millennials use their digital wallet for every purchase, especially on
food, rent and ride shares.
Pew Research also found that about 34 percent of adults under the age of
50 make no purchases in a typical week using cash, compared with 23
percent of those ages

Why? Why not? Human ingenuity always finds a way. It's what got us to the moon in the first place. So will moon mining be a thing? Sadly, I can say if there is a profit in it. Not knocking capitalism, but the only way this will be done is if the returns exceed the venture. Colonization works on this principle as well. You don't invest a sh*t load of money without getting something in return. Okay, done with politics… let's look at ethics. We pretty much screwed up planet Earth by doing those political things. What will happen to the moon? Are we going to do any better, or send the moon down some rabbit hole we haven't envisioned? Praxis. And lastly, the Artemis Accord. Notice how many nations capable of space flight haven't signed on? I'm looking at you China and Russia.
