  • Jillian Benfield Talks Raising A Son with Down Syndrome (S6E29)

On this week’s episode I had a great conversation with Jillian Benfield. Jillian is the author of The Gift of The Unexpected. The family faced numerous challenges, including their second child's NICU stay, open heart surgery, a miscarriage, and a rare diagnosis for their third child. The most significant moment came when they learned their second child, Anderson, would have Down syndrome. Their initial heartbreak transformed into understanding as they confronted their ignorance and ableism. Navigating the world with a disabled child has been both challenging and beautiful for them. They wouldn't change their journey; the unexpected shaped their lives.
