The Autoimmune Hour episodes

  • Are you giving yourself permission to get well?
There’s no time to wait according to this week’s guest on Life Interrupted Radio. On this episode, Sharon Sayler welcomes Gail Jessen, founder and chief adventurer at A Series of Adventures.

Gail's calling is to help people radically change their life by asking one question: How do you want to feel? Her work focuses on clarity, permission, and freedom, encouraging people to transform life as they know it and choose their own adventure. After being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid, she committed to deconstruct her life and rebuild it on her terms. She left her career of 15-years to travel the world indefinitely, beginning her journey with a one-way ticket to Bali. In this intriguing Life Interrupted Radio show, Gail will share with you:
How to find the golden pockets of transformation hiding in your life. Your misalignments and stuck points are actually divine treasure maps that point to your greatest transformation opportunities.Stop chasing specific outcomes, instead, focus on those core desired feelings. You have permission to feel the way you want feel. You can say "yes" and "no" to things …

  • Who Am I? Does it change when your sick...?
Let’s talk about the stories we tell our selves. Who am I? is the most important story you can tell yourself. What do our beliefs and stories of what illness and wellness mean do to our healing… When you have an autoimmune, or chronic condition, those stories may be even more complex after being told it’s all in your head, get over it or what'w wrong with you….

One thing I’ve discovered through my autoimmune healing journey is that it’s both a physical and mental healing that happens.  Oh, those mind games that we can play….

On this episode of The Autoimmune Hour on Life Interrupted Radio we welcome Bev Martin who I love to describe as “a sort of a soul storyteller.” Bev will share with you:

Why where you are is not who you are.
How to know the difference between “what I’m experiencing” and “who I am.”
Learn simple ways to help remember who you are
Easy ways to move from how things are to how you’d like them to be

  • When "Letting Go" Can Relieve Chronic Symptoms
Too often a diagnosis of an autoimmune causes us to close in and close down. The diagnosis can develop a “life-of-its-own” and cause our mind and body to live in anxiety, loss and stress. It’s all too common that an autoimmune condition brings with it overwhelm, mistrust and grief for what was and fear of what’s next.  Sharon Sayler, host of The Autoimmune Hour and Sonia Trejo from the Alchemy of Hope and Healing explore how the process of letting go can accelerate healing.

How to release ancient attachments that no longer serve you
How not to become attached to the trauma of it all
How to deal with the fear and anxiety of the diagnosis

Sonia Trejo is a certified Health and Wellness Coach, patient advocate and a Master Core Energy Leadership Coach. She is also a certified Pilates instructor, a certified personal trainer. Plus, Sonia is someone who has been there…. She has been living with Multiple Sclerosis since 1995, and continues to defy the statistics as 20+ years later, she maintains an active lifestyle. From her personal experience and immense education in the field of healing the mind-body-spirit Sonia now shows her client’s how they can live well with autoimmune too. Learn more at www.SoniaTrejo.com

Listen to how Sonia turned seemingly insurmountable challenges into opportunities, let go of what was stopping her healing and achieve her greatest potential and how you can too.

  • Memory, CPTSD and Healing from Autoimmune
"One-way thinking" is often where the problem starts, says our guest Alan Eisenberg.“I’m sick and I’ll always be sick” is a type of "one-way thinking."

It’s an easy mind trap to fall into. You may have heard your doctor give you a “pronouncement” of “You have “X” and you will always have it - so get use to it!” like I did…. This trap as well as others is important to know, as your healing, no matter if you heal a little or a lot, often begins in what you believe about your self and your ability to heal. All too often, it’s those difficult feelings, thoughts and emotions that are often right under the surface of our public facade that create a lifetime of hardship that doesn't have to be. It can even make illness worse!

If this sounds like you or someone you know, join us as Sharon Sayler, your host for The Autoimmune Hour on Life Interrupted Radio for his episode's special guest Alan Eisenberg from BullyingRecovery.org. In this podcast, Alan shares his own autoimmune story and how memory, trauma and what we think plays into healing.

    He also explains:

    • how to be grateful no matter the challenge,

    • how the ‘child-brain’ can keep us sick,

    • how to overcome ‘chronic fight or flight’

and his own personal healing story including how he recovered from long-term bullying as a child and why that childhood trauma led him to start Bullying Recovery, LLC.

Bullying Recovery is a company devoted to helping those who suffer from the long-term effects of bullying like Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD, anxiety and depression.
