Are you interested in going into the entertainment industry?
Growing up as a minority in America, it’s not common to see someone that represents you and your living experience on TV shows and in movies. However, it is in our hands to advocate for representation and support those that are fighting for us in the industry.
In this episode, I am excited to be joined by Fanny Grande, an amazing Venezuelan American award-winning filmmaker. Throughout her 20 years working as an actor and a director in the entertainment business, Fanny saw the need for more representation of Latinos like her in the industry. This led her to create Avenida Productions, an independent movie studio, where Fanny provides filmmakers with tools and resources while also creating opportunities for Latinos in Hollywood. Fanny is a three-time Imagen Award nominee and she has received several recognitions for her work both in front and behind the camera.
Tune in to Episode 102 of Amiga, Handle Your Shit, and hear how Fanny is making real change towards more representation for Latinos in Hollywood. Fanny talks about her upbringing as a Venezulan American, why she decided to go into the entertainment industry, why there is a gap of Latino representation, what inspired her to start Avenida Productions, and so much more.
