In Judges chapters 10–21 and Ruth chapters 1–4, Israel repeatedly turns away from God and experiences oppression, and though God raises up judges like Jephthah and Samson to deliver them, the nation falls deeper into moral and spiritual chaos, ending with civil war and the statement that everyone did what was right in their own eyes. In contrast, the book of Ruth shows a story of faithfulness and redemption, as Ruth remains loyal to Naomi, marries Boaz, and becomes part of the family line that would lead to King David.
