Time doesn’t heal; healing heals. We have an amazing guest in this episode! Alfonzo Hernandez joins us to share his story of grief and healing, pain and recovery. He tell us the things he did well and the things he grew from. We share a little of our grief experience as well! We talk about how to show up well to grief, how to prioritize your heart along the way, and how to avoid betraying yourself as you go. We shared the ways people helped us in our pain and some of the ways they hurt us along the way. We all learn something in this conversation, share some tears, and leave a little more connected to ourselves and each other.
In this episode, we talk all about the freedom to CHANGE, GROW, EVOLVE & BECOME. We’ve noticed that the world does NOT like for people to change. We want to look at who you were ten years ago, and if it’s not who you are today, we judge and trust is lost. We believe we SHOULD see vast internal evolution over the course of a year. We believe our worldview should change, our beliefs, our relational judgments, along with anything and everything else. As long as we are learning, healing, and growing, we should be changing our minds. Amber shares about her experience leaving a specific religious organization and how she and others were impacted by her change of beliefs. She reflects on what would have been different if she had just felt safe to change her mind. We hope this episode encourages and gives permission to us all to allow ourselves and others to evolve freely!
This is one of our most vulnerable episodes yet. We open up about our own childhood pain and the process of healing and reparenting. We share personal stories, hold space for each other experiences, and talk through the practical steps of what has been effective on our journeys. We hope and believe this episode will leave you inspired, equipped, and empowered to start, or go deeper into your truth look at your deficits, and begin to meet your own needs for wholeness. Heal out loud friends!
This episode is near and dear to our hearts. We discuss reparenting, while parenting, and how we can give our kids the safest version of us as we heal. We challenge the culture's parenting norms that have been passed down through generations. We talk about how we can parent in a way that mitigates trauma, giving our kids childhoods they don't reel from. We share personal stories of parenting and being parented, and how we journeying through healing in both spaces. Our heart is to shed light on ways we handle our children that we may not realize are contributing to damaging beliefs they will hold on to as the grow. We remind ourselves that we are parenting our kids for adulthood, and that motivation produces different parenting behaviors than the goal of having well-controlled kids. We believe this episode will encourage you to reparent yourself and parent your kids with love compassion and unconditional connection to love and acceptance.
This episode is a continuation of Episode TWO. However, this time we break down what it looks like practically, to live from this powerful place of wholeness we discussed in the last episode. What does it look like in the day-to-day? How do we work it into our rhythms? We share how each of us practice and rehearse rhythms of health, how we have reconnected and stayed connected to our hearts, and what loving ourselves unconditionally looks like today.
We love God well when we love ourselves well. In Christianity, we often hear: love God, love people. There is a relationship religion often misses: relationship to self. In this episode, we talk about all the ways we have disconnected from ourselves in order to survive. We talk about repairing after self-betrayal and rebuilding self-trust. We talk about meeting ourselves with love and compassion. We talk about meeting all of our core needs with God and ourselves. We share stories from our own journeys that have taught us how to repair and rebuild beautiful relationships with our hearts. We love what God has to say about it too.
In this episode, Bethany shares how she had a dream about Amber before they met. She shares the dream, and how all these years later, this podcast is part of the fulfillment of it. They talk about emotional safety in friendship, vulnerability, choosing to steward it well, and knowing who your people are. Amber shares how unhealthy she was when they met, and how the healthy parts of her had a different response to Bethany than the broken parts. They share how their friendship has made them both more vulnerable and led them deeper into wholeness.
