Amanda Thomas and Dr. Ray explore all the dimensions of rest and what it looks like to begin integrating a rest practice into your life.
About Amanda:
She is a registered nurse certified in oncology. Has worked in nursing for the last 12 years in Reno. Committed to serving others with resiliency, mindfulness, and self-care trainings. Along with her passion for nursing and resiliency, she has also been a dedicated mindfulness practitioner for the last 15 years. Managing the stresses of life, work and anxiety are the path that led her to a mindfulness practice. Daily she continues to refine her practice through sitting/walking meditation, qigong, yoga, online workshops, and retreats. Deepening these practices inspired her to share with others and is currently enrolled in the 2025 cohort of Mindfulness Meditation Certified Teacher Training led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.
Her mindfulness journey continues to improve her work and personal life fostering strong interpersonal relationships. It has been a blessing to be a part of the Family First community for 17 years. She is forever grateful for the health and wellness this team and community has brought into her life.
In her personal time, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, paddleboarding with friends and family. An active lifestyle has helped to embrace the importance of deliberate rest and rejuvenation. Painting is a source of practice for creative expression for her. Rest practice has helped her to show up more wholly each day. It has been a joy for her to share the positive impacts this can have for others’ lives as she deepens her relationship with the dimensions of rest.
