  • 18. Stop Ignoring You
When was the last time you had a conversation with yourself? When was the last time you asked yourself how you are? What it is that you need? When was the last time you sat with yourself quiet enough to hear the whispers of your soul. For so many of us the answer is not only no- but do people do that?

I am not sure when ignoring ourselves became popular. I think for me it goes back to my early childhood when it was all too apparent that what my brother needed mattered way more than what I needed. It goes back to being fine when I wasn t. It goes back to making sure everyone was pleased when I wasn t. Ignoring my mattering. Ignoring my less than fine. Ignoring my entire essence.

The journey to me was life changing on so many levels. It is a discovery, a curiosity, an intentional presence, a knowing.
Do you know you? Do you know what it is like to be YOU? Join me on the episode today to explore this gift - that is your life.

My hope is that we are creating a community by way of this podcast and through my online coaching community Becoming. www.leahroling.com/becoming I wish I could get this work into the hands of every woman I know. • 17. The Hardest Day of the Year
I debated on what to call this podcast! I was thinking about making it be something like: Mothers Day special edition, Championing motherhood or Momming ain t easy. But neither really embraced the concepts/ideas that I wanted to convey today so instead I named it the hardest day of the year.

Mother's day for so many of us is a beautiful day to reflect on and celebrate not only our mothers but our own mother status. It is an opportunity to re-evaluate our relationships and who it is that are being in them. I am going to offer a 2 of my favorite parenting strategies to do just that.

I also know for many, Mothers day is challenging.

It can be challenging if you are less than impressed with how you were mothered . It can be challenging to celebrate and honor someone whom you needed to be better for you. It is hard to find that perfect card that is honest but not harsh. Hallmark is not making cards that say Happy Mothers Day- I needed you to be better but I hope you still have a good day.

Regardless of where you land on your relationship with the actual day itself - I am going to share some ideas that might help support not only your relationship with your own mother and the mother in you but your relationship with Mothers Day itself.

  • 16. Getting what you want
When was the last time you wanted something. I mean really wanted something just for the sake of wanting it. Not because you thought it was good for someone else, not because it should be something you want. When was the last time you allowed yourself to dream?

So often when we want something, our brain quickly offers up all the reasons why it is not possible we can t afford it, it would take too much time, we don t know enough. And we silence our excuses with our scarcity thinking. We operate from our misguided stories without reflection on what is possible. What if the very best of who you are is already in you to choose. Those wants, those desires are unique to you and only you. What if you didn t have to believe that you should suffer. What if you didn t have to believe that it wasn t in the cards for you. What if you were enough? What if you were capable? Whatever your brain wants to offer you about your wants what if you could be wrong about it If you were wrong what would you have to do?

Listen in as I share with you some ideas on getting what you want!

  • 15. The VOID
If we were to be really honest with ourselves about what it is that is really missing from our lives- I am guessing it isn t chips, cookies and new seasons of your favorite Netflix show. But maybe I am wrong sometimes it seems so. I am guessing if you took the time and asked what it was that was really missing from your life it would not be more social media and starbucks. It is something more. This something more is what I call the VOID.

I believe The VOID is what stands in the way of truly living this our best life. I believe we all have this void that exists within us. Have you noticed this? Have you noticed it feels like there s something not quite right. It feels like there s something missing. That something seems off. Other times it shows up in this idea that something in our life has gone wrong. That our life was supposed to be different in some way. This looks like unhappiness, restlessness, resentment. It looks like frustration, overwhelm, guilt and shame.

It s all of the negative emotions that sometimes we seek a reason for, and sometimes we want to give the credit to things going on around us or people going on around us. We want to say that it is because other people are better than us. We want to say that we are better then them. We want to say that our house should be bigger, we should make more money, have more friends, have a different job, a different marriage, more kids, less kids. We want to live someplace different a place that has mountains, a place that is by the ocean. We like to blame the world for this VOID and when we do we have no solace because if the world is our problem we have much bigger problems.

The VOID this feeling of not enough, this feeling of something has gone wrong is created by us. It is created by our thinking and sometimes there is an obvious situation that we gave meaning to, and other times we have no idea what caused it. Other than we have sweaty palms, a racing heart, and worry. A tight chest, unsettled stomach and a lack of focus. It s anxiety, it s discomfort, it s jealousy, it s resentment and we are not even sure why? It s sadness and depression and nothing has really gone wrong.

If you can relate to this, I think this episode might help offer a few ideas to reconcile and move out of the VOID, out of the fear and into your most fantastic future.

  • 14. The art of JOMO
I am talking about JOMO today. The joy of missing out. I am trying to make a case for the importance and relevance of De-Cluttering and Minimalizing. Josuah Becker said Maybe the life you have always wanted is buried under what you own If that is true than I want to share with you some ideas to unbury it.

For decades I was a Maximalist. The constant distraction of the next new thing buffered me from a career I didn t love, from a life I didn t love. It buffered me from a harbouring resentment that I deserve to buy whatever I want and however much I wanted. It buffered me from a deep rooted doubt as to whether or not I should quit the job I hate and stay home with the kids I love but it was quickly answered with Leah, "that is not even in the realm of possibility". I went through my days running, running my tennis shoes and my credit card. All this running to buffer this unsettled feeling that I should be doing something different in my life, something more. When I was to exhausted to run anymore the stillness whispered, "Leah if you want your life to change, you have to change. This change cured the buffering to feel better because I was better. This intentional living by my own creation not by compulsive consumerism.

Regardless of whether or not you identify as a minimalist or a Maximalist I believe there will be some ideas some concepts and some challenges in this episode that I hope inspire you to live lighter and make space in your home, heart and head for living your best life.

  • 11. The calm in the storm
Life happens. Our humanity is defined by both progress and struggle. There are lots of situations that challenge us to react. Challenge us to spin out, stall out. Challenge us to struggle to solve for emotions like overwhelm, frustration, worry, resentment, anger, and fear. Chaos dictates the necessity of these emotions. The storm mandates the dramatics. But what if it wasn't necessary. What if it wasn't mandated. What if in fact, we could actually choose how we were going to show up. What if we were the author of our reaction plan. What if our reaction to our kids, to our spouses, to our collegues, to bad news, to disapointement, to this life was ours to write. Join me as I teach you how to choose your reaction to chaos, struggle and challenges. Join me as I teach you how to be the calm in the storm.

How are you showing up? It's a huge conversation in personal development. It's an even bigger question. We are going to tackle this question in todays show. I am going to offer up a few ideas on why it is that we show up the way we do and give you a few tools that might help you to show up how you want to regardless of what your circumstances might dictate. Knowing who it is that you are, and how you show up are the biggest questions you can answer in this life. Hope to see you there.
