We are back for a new year of great craft beer stories!!

Due to the positive feedback on our first episode of The Pro, The Protege & The Hack, we are going to continue to get together once a month to record a light-hearted look at brewing topics. Once again I have Dave Padden from Akasha, and From Ben's, Ben Miller joining me in the discussion.

In this episode we discuss the do's and don'ts with hops, killer combos, double dry hopping, eating hop pellets and other sciencey s**t...and have a lot of fun while doing so!

On this episode of the beer healer interviews, I am pleased to say that despite significant connection problems with New Zealand, I am able to bring you this interview with Behemoth Brewing owner, brewer and resident giant, Andrew Childs.

Apparently all of New Zealand was watching Netflix on the night of our interview and it caused all sorts of problems for us...even resulting in me finishing the interview on my own!

These funds will help men in their battle against Mental Illness and other men's health issues.

Movember Co-Founder, Travis Garone, joined me for a chat on a podcast that I record for my day job at LiveTiles. I thought it would be a great idea to kill two birds with one stone and record some extra content after our interview, as he is a big craft beer fan. The energiser bunny of the Hawaiian brewing scene is back with more weird and wacky ideas on how to make beer from his natural surroundings. Yep, forests, volcanoes and the edge of the earth...nothing stops Steve in his search for amazing ingredients for his beers.

A great chat with someone who is truly pushing the boundaries in craft brewing!

In this episode, I paid a visit to my old mate Andrew at Batch Brewing. After a pint of my favourite WCIPA, he suggested we take a drive out the new "Small Batch" brewery at Petersham...which I of course accepted.

There has been a lot going on at Batch since we spoke last...co-founder Chris has returned to the USA but has found a way to be able to work remotely, and Andrew has been busy fulfilling the plans the boys had to start a small experimental brewery "just around the corner".

I was keen to share a beer with Andrew to find our what kind of flexibility the new venue will give them, what beers and collaborations they had on the horizon and exactly how stressful it is starting a second brewery. Even though they had done it all before, there was still a lot to learn when doing it all again.

As usual, he is pretty open and honest about what's been happening, and shares some news about a festival they are involved with, and their plans for the summer.

One of the nicest blokes you will meet in the industry...that's how Dave Padden was described to me.

And, yep, they were right. I had an absolute ripping time interviewing Dave and finding out about such things as:

•How Akasha, sorta, kinda, not really, started out as a Gypsy brewing operation;

•How Craft Brewing is the passion he never thought he would find (wifey excepted);

•Why he chose the random suburb of 5 Dock to set up shop;

•What he found out the back of a Kansas City petrol station; and

•His love for big hair rock!
