Psalm 7 is a complaint made to God to show forth his justice and to make a distinction between the righteous and the wicked.

the image given is of a Hunter and Hunted. With words that make all of us blush, we pray to God to vindicate us according to our righteousness and if we have sinned at all to cause us to die.

These words and prayers are of course the words of Jesus Christ who gives us these words to pray because he has made us righteous and not because we are. The image of Jesus on the cross is what we should take in mind as we read this Psalm. It is there that God makes a final judgment and saves us who take refuge in him.

Psalm 6 is the first of the penitential psalms (6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, 143). These psalms are characterized by the Psalmist crying out to God because the severity of their sin and the fear they have of God’s judgment. They also have moments of God’s mercy and grace with powerful images and moments that are tethered to the cross of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 6 moves us through this terror we experience before God and the comfort and confidence that also comes to us because of the certainty of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 5 is set within the context of worship. Who can stand before God and who cannot and why. 

The Psalm alternates between speaking toward God and lamenting about the adversaries, even using language that we are not comfortable often using with God. 

Before God we stand because of His righteousness and His steadfast love. We are blessed by his works and made a delight pleasing because Jesus Christ entered into the holy places of God his Father.

Psalm 4 is a Psalm for the end of the day. A day full of conflict with enemies. The Pslamist turns to God and will not let anger and sin overtake him. He knows that God will protect him from the taints and mocks of those who turn his honor to shame, that God will create a space for him in a tight spot and that God will bless him with all that is needed for this life.

Psalm 3 introduces us to David and the fight of faith that he and we are thrown into from the moment we wake up in the morning.

We also see how our God is at work on our lives to deliver us. Through it all, we see Jesus Christ our Lord, though surrounded by his enemies on the cross, is delivered by His Father.

Psalm 2 continues what Psalm 1 began to do: introducing us to the main character of the Psalm. In our Psalm today we see that the Blessed Man is also the Messiah, the King, and the Son of God. And through Jesus, God sets his King on his Holy Hill in the sight of all nations.
