  • Episode 250: Following Rules
Today’s podcast is a short yet powerful one. In it, I detail the importance of having a set of rules in life, the importance of following them, the benefits of following them, and the perils of not having any. This dialogue also brings me to a brief and unexpected breakdown of the spectrum of liberalism and conservatism (yay for some fun bonus content). I really hope you enjoyed this one and found some value in it. And to finish off this description (if you’ve even made it this far), email me a rule, or multiple rules, that you follow in your life - [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you. As always, Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 249: 8 Questions to Check on Your Well-Being
This is one of the most detailed and practical podcasts that I have recorded recently. In this episode, I walk you through 8 key questions to ask yourself to check in on your well-being. These are questions that I have frequently asked myself after learning about the psychological theories and research behind each. The impact that taking a step back to ask myself these questions has had on me is quite profound, as you will hopefully hear in the episode. I hope that you give it a try by asking yourself these questions. I also hope that you find this process to be useful in some capacity. Lastly, THANK YOU for your attention and for your support. It means so so much to me (even if it’s the 100th time I write this). And to my American listeners, Happy Thanksgiving! Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 248: Boxes
This is one of the most challenging topics I’ve tried to tackle on this podcast (and on my blog, for that matter). This podcast is a reading of my article titled “Boxes”, which you can find on The Platform - mattbest.net/theplatform/boxes . This is a topic that I am deeply interested in and a topic about which I have had a ton of thoughts and internal debates. If you have any feedback on the contents of this episode, please reach out to me. I’d love to hear your reactions. As always, Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 247: Choices
On a walk through my old university the other day, I got to thinking about ways that we can describe life. The best way that I came up with was describing it as a set of choices. As I thought about this at a deeper level, I realized the magnitude of power that choices carry. We often don’t have a well developed framework for making choices either, even though making choices is the most important thing that we do in our lives. In this podcast, I further articulate this thought and talk about a way to start thinking about developing a framework to make choices. I hope that you find at least a small piece of insight here. As always, I greatly appreciate your attention and support. It’s one of the things that consistently brings me back to record more and more episodes. Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 246: Grandpa
Last week, I talked to my grandmother about my grandpa for an hour and a half. He died when I was 8 years old, so I only had a fairly basic and naive view of him and his life. We had plenty of nice experiences together, but I never truly got to know him as a man. In this podcast, I discuss what I learned about my grandpa from my grandmother in that conversation and the biggest lesson I can take from his life. I sincerely hope you find value in this. As always, thanks for tuning in. It means so much to me. Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 245: “Don’t Settle”
We are often told to not settle for a certain relationship, for a certain job, or for anything of lower quality. These are certainly fair points to make. However, is there something of greater importance that we truly shouldn’t settle for? In this podcast, I argue that the answer to this question is yes. Tune in to find out what my answer is and how much weight that it carries. As always, Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 244: Reminders for Myself

This episode is quite brief yet it is a bit more personal than most of my other episodes. It is a deeper look into my self-talk and the things I say to myself when nobody is watching. These two recordings are titled "Squeeze it" and "It's Time To Go." Both are focused on reminding myself of the importance of being present now and making the most of the moments I have in the present. They are always powerful recordings for me when I return to them. I hope you feel the same way after listening to them. As always, thank you so much for your support. 244 episodes down and plenty more to go! Much Love.

  • Episode 243: Real Questions
Happy Saturday. I’ll keep this short and sweet. This podcast is a set of a few questions which I think are incredibly important for all of us to answer. I recommend that you don’t just answer them in your head. Instead, I recommend you write them down on paper. I think that the best questions are necessary prerequisites to the best answers about ourselves and the world. I hope that you find a lot of value in this. Answering questions like these have pushed me forward in so many positive ways. As always, Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 242: Creativity
Today’s podcast is about creativity. Oddly enough, given the number of episodes I’ve recorded, it’s a topic that I haven’t focused on exclusively in an episode. However, creativity is so present in my life, and it’s a topic I really enjoy thinking about. So, here are some of my thoughts on creativity with some questions to ponder yourself. I hope that you enjoy it! As always, thank you so much for tuning in and for your support. It means more to me than you’ll ever know. Much Love ❤️.

  • Episode 241: A Walk in New Orleans
Today’s episode is an experience of sensations and imagination. To create this experience, I walk you through the construction of a visual sequence with sounds and feelings attached to them in the form of a guided meditation. This is an experience I recently had walking through New Orleans which had a profound impact on me and my thinking about myself and where my life has gone up to this point. I hope that you find this same effect for yourself. As always, Much Love ❤️.
