September 21, 2019Episode 215: DeprivationFalling asleep sweating and waking up sweating for 5 days because of extremely hot temperatures and humidity wasn’t exactly the most fun thing I could’ve decided to do. In the moment, it sucked. But my appreciation of the simple things and basic pleasures of life intensified. In this podcast, I explore the value of this experience, and why deprivation isn’t so bad after all. Take this one with an open mind. Much Love ❤️....more8minPlay
September 19, 2019Episode 214: PresenceToday’s podcast is an active reflection on what I’ve gained from being off of social media over this past month. To be frank, doing this has been one of the best decisions I’ve made up to this point. The positive outcomes I’ve experienced have been resounding, and I wanted to take the time to discuss the biggest benefit I’ve seen so far: presence. I hope you enjoy this talk, and I hope that all is going well in your life. As always, Much Love ❤️....more11minPlay
September 17, 2019Episode 213: FearFear is something which every single one of us has experienced. It’s such a strong feeling and it’s quite hard to avoid it. At some point or another, it comes along in our minds and we have to deal with it. This blog post / podcast is focused on how we interpret fear, and why we aren’t confined to experiencing it in a negative way. Changing our conceptions of fear can benefit us so much, and I hope that the message in this episode articulates that for you. September 15, 2019Episode 212: Amor FatiAmor Fati is a Latin phrase which means “the love of one’s own fate”. It is a curious term on the surface, especially considering the inclusion of the concept of fate in it. However, when we dive into its deeper meaning and how that deeper meaning plays out in our minds and actions, the implications are quite grand for all of us. In today’s episode, I break down this deeper meaning and the significant implications of this concept. It’s one of the most interesting and useful ways of thinking I have learned recently, so I hope you find it to be intriguing yourself. As always, Much Love ❤️....more8minPlay
September 13, 2019Episode 211: The Faults of ModerationWhen I was in Mexico, I didn’t eat any meat. Yes, I didn’t eat a nice taco al pastor. I didn’t eat a classic chicken quesadilla. I didn’t even eat a torta. As you may know, I don’t eat meat and decided to not sacrifice that while I was away. This decision was a bewilderment to my friend’s mom, and we ended up having a couple of long conversations about it revolving around moderation and our thoughts on the topic. So in today’s podcast, I talk through her argument of “poco veneno no mata”, or “a little venom doesn’t kill”, how I responded, and the reactions and realizations which came later. For anyone who likes thinking about logic and the implications of arguments, I think you’ll really like this episode. I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback! As always, Much Love ❤️....more11minPlay
September 11, 2019Episode 210: JOMOThe other day, my friend Alex said something to me which completely blew my socks off. It ended up being the simplification of a concept that has been playing out in my life over the past 2-3 years that has been so rewarding for me. What is this realization? What in the heck is JOMO? Tune in to find out. It’s worth it. As always, thank you so much for your attention and support. Much Love ❤️...more10minPlay
September 09, 2019Episode 209: Well-BeingWell-being is a topic which my brain always seems to come back to. It’s a concept that fascinates me, which has led me to reading and talking a great deal about it. So today’s podcast is a deeper look at my thoughts on well-being. Instead of the normal conversational format, this is a reading of an article I wrote on my blog where I tried to be more articulate and direct in my dialogue around well-being. (mattbest.net/theplatform/wellbeing). If you liked the topic and would like me to spend more time discussing it, feel free to leave a comment on the post on my blog. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. And if you like these sorts of episodes, then check out my weekly blog at mattbest.net/theplatform , where I put out a new article every weekend. September 07, 2019Episode 208: The Importance of Utility ValueGeeze... another weird word today? Utility Value? What even is that? Well, once again, a weird combination of words, but a simple concept. Utility Value is a concept which can be harnessed so positively for our learning, yet it is so underutilized. In this episode, I’ll tell you why. Tune in, listen with intent, and let me know what you think. Thanks again for your attention and for your consistent support. It means the world to me. I’ll be back soon! Much Love ❤️...more9minPlay
September 05, 2019Épisode 207: Multivariate CausalityToday’s episode is a bit quirky, but it’s about a concept which we should all appreciate and have on our minds. Multivariate Causality is a really fancy name for such a simple yet important concept, so I wanted to dive into what it means and what it entails for all of us, especially in how we talk to each other about why things happen. I hope that you find this reflection to be valuable. That’s always my goal with these podcasts. Thanks so much for listening. Much Love ❤️...more9minPlay
September 03, 2019Episode 206: My Greatest FailureToday’s podcast is the story of my greatest failure. It’s a story of promise, inspiration, and excitement. It’s also a story of disappointment, challenge, and sadness. Fortunately enough, it all seemed to turn out alright. And with that, in this episode I give to you an honest account of these events in my life and how they have shaped me. I hope you enjoy it. Much Love ❤️...more9minPlay
