Our first cast on The Big Fish is a very positive story about a fish that was named after the Macquarie River, the river where it was first identified by Europeans. The Macquarie Perch became extinct in the Macquarie River catchment due to 200 years of mismanagement but now it is back thanks to some ground breaking Aussie science.
