Friday's Second Hour: Farming for the Future Friday continues, Sponsored by the coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers, at the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory talking about the opportunities there for young people getting into animal agriculture! VDL Executive Director Pat Halbur talks with Bob about what makes the ISU College of Verterinary Medicine so great on a national scale and tells us what research they are working on at the facility. Bob also chats with some of the students about what got them into ag, makes them want to stay, and where they see themselves heading once they graduate from ISU. The Coalition's Hope Brecht talks about the services that CSIF provides to anyone in the livestock industry. Ending the show, we talk with Amanda Brill from Total Farm Marketing about markets and the big story of the day: nearby corn falling below $4.

CSIF's Kody Havens talks about the tour and times going to the old Vet Med building. ISU Deen of Dean of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Dan Grooms and DVL Director Dr. Rodger Main talk about the facility just South of Jack Trice and tells us what's coming next with Phase Two! ISU Veterinary Medicine student Dr. Emily Finley tells us what she is studying at the diagnostic lab.

Iowa State University Extension field agronomist Virgil Schmidt in the Eastern part of Iowa discusses the need for some soil moisture and gives some insight on his winter meeting conversations on fighting pests and disease in the field in 2024. Midwest Market Solutions' Brian Hoops is today's market analyst, and we look at a hog market that he says "has turned a corner" and grains that are in the red so far this morning.

Tuesday's Second Hour: Representative Ashley Hinson from Iowa's 2nd District gives us the latest on potential legislation to repeal Proposition 12. Dr. Steve Meyer from Ever.Ag tells us about his projections for the future of the hog industry in the United States. Al Kluis from Kluis Commodity Advisors ends today's program with an update on markets.
