We wrap up with an update on markets from Brian Hoops with Midwest Markets Solutions.

Wednesday's First Hour: Northwest Iowa Field Agronomist Gentry Sorenson from Iowa State University Extension celebrates their overnight rainfall with us and reports on yields he's hearing about across his area. Brian Hoops from Midwest Market solutions breaks down today's trade. Wyffels Wednesday and we celebrate today with Corn Breeder Chris Eichhorn tells us what they're learning from their test plots and previews what is ahead.

Tuesday's Second Hour: Emily Saveraid from Iowa 4-H tells us about 4-H Giving Day, taking place today, and how to donate! The announcement was made today that Iowa Speedway will host the NASCAR Cup Series in June 2024 and Iowa Corn Promotion Board President Stan Nelson tells us how they will be involved and promoting ethanol through the race. It's Soybean Cyst Nematode Action Month and we talk about the pest with BASF's Troy Bauer as well as management. The show closes today with Paragon Investments' Jamey Kohake talking markets with corn and soybeans seeing pressure today.

Tuesday's First Hour: Historian Rod Stanley from Dexter, IA joins us to recount the story of the national plowing matches in 1948 where candidate Harry Truman spoke to a crowd of 100,000 people. Former Congressman from Minnesota Collin Peterson joins us on behalf of the American Carbon Alliance with his thoughts on the importance of capturing carbon to support the ethanol industry. We're also watching weather across the Midwest and competing regions in South America and talking about the progress of harvest.

Monday's Second Hour: The show continues from the Wyffels Cron Cam plot at the Adel DMACC Campus. Bob is joined to begin the hour by Doug Pooch with a look at yield and moisture results on the crop coming out of the corn cam plot. David had a conversation with US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack about ELRP and ERP and the importance of relief programs to keep farmers afloat in difficult circumstances. Ending the show, Jamey Kohake from Paragon Investments tells us what is happening in the markets as we await more numbers to roll in from harvest.

Monday's First Hour: We're harvesting the Wyffels Corn Cam plot today near Adel, IA! Bob starts off the show with Doug Pooch from Wyffels Hybrids talking about why today was scheduled as the day to get the crop out of the field. DMACC Students Collin Grove and Sam Roberts talk about their work over the summer at the corn cam plot and taking ag classes. He also talks with students Calla Langel and Amanda Ostrem about receiving the Mark Pearson Scholarship this year and about their FFA background. Another student, Ashley Tomlinson, talks about her background on the farm in Warren County as well. Paragon Investments' Jamey Kohake fill us in on marketplace movement as we kick off the month of October. At the end of the hour Tim Meyer gives his weekly update on land and equipment sales and tells us why the offseason is a good time to sell.

We kick off the hour with Denny Bollig from Dragotec talks about his harvest in Northwest Iowa and tells us about Dragotec's Slip Clutch design to help machines perform well through harvest. Representative Ashley Hinson from Iowa's 2nd Congressional District joins us to explain the rejection of last night's ag appropriations bill by all of Iowa's delegation. Brugler Marketing & Management's Alan Brugler ends the week with another look at markets a couple of hours removed from the Grain Stocks report with markets continuing to move lower.

Doug Hensley from Hertz Farm Management gives us his perspective on what yields are looking like so far in Iowa with a lot of hit and miss rainfall this season. He also tells us how land sale markets have trended over the past year after strong prices last year. Alan Brugler from Brugler Marketing & Management dives into the numbers from today's quarterly USDA Grain Stocks report and the ensuing slide downward in markets. We also hear from Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw today about the On-Farm Biodiesel Credit program and how farmers can save money by participating.

Tony Moellers from Brevant starts this hour with a peek at Northwest Iowa field work and talks about planning for success in 2024. American Farm Bureau VP of Public Policy Sam Kieffer joins David for a special report on how a federal government shutdown could affect agriculture and talks about how similar situations have unfolded historically. Angie Setzer from Consus ROI ends today's show with an update on grain trade with the USDA quarterly Grain Stocks report coming out at the start of tomorrow's Big Show.

Leah TenNapel from Iowa State University Extension in Northwest Iowa talks about harvest progress in her area and tells us what she is hearing from growers as far as yield. She also dives into their soil moisture research they do in April and November across the 9 counties she covers. The "Goddess of Grain" Angie Setzer joins us from Consus ROI with a look at markets today. We also look at the latest drought monitor released by the Drought Mitigation Center today.
