The Blacksmith's Furnace

In today's rather , all over the place, episode we talk, role models, mentors and people you look up to and how much we should allow "celebrities" to influence us.

We discus which kind of person should be a role model in the first place, and where the Role model has questionable characteristics, who's responsibility it is to ensure those are emulated by the "Role models" followers

Robert nearly got away with not having to take the hot seat in Sorry, Not Sorry but we caught him halfway through and he addresses topics like the annihilation of entire people groups in the old testament and God's justification for his treatment of Job.

It's the more sensible two thirds of the furnace representing today in the absence of our beloved Bobby A.

Peter attempted to field not one but two bombs from Mo during Sorry not Sorry and the lovely Jemz joined us for a conversation about conspiracies and the things they could be covering or distracting us from.

It was a fun conversation about some not so fun topics and we'd be in the wrong if we didn't send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Nipsey Hussle who's untimely death prompted the conversation to begin with.

The Beautiful Beast and the Man Like were back in the Furnace as Peter was nowhere to be seen. Moses was in the hot seat this week as he argued why Judas wasn't going to heaven despite fulfilling his God-given purpose.

The duo then talked about all things Mothers Day include who qualifies to be celebrated on this day and why the same amount of effort doesn't go into Fathers Day.

Robert suggested Sir Alex Ferguson's book/audiobook, Leading, where he talks about the leadership skills he's developed over the years. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Leading-Lessons-leadership-legendary-Manchester-ebook/dp/B00UL8GEAQ

If you've been following the podcast for a while, you'll have undoubtedly heard of the Show Nancy Meets.

Our very own Peter is the technical director of the show and today he's brought on the producer, Vincent Nimoh and the star of the show, Nancy Mills to talk about the content we create and consume and the effects these have on us as Christians.

In the absence of Bobby A and Mo, Vincent and Nancy provide some great thoughts on the secular and sacred shows we consume and the hard truths we need to address about doing so.

Peter volunteers his behind for the hot seat during Sorry Not Sorry and talks about where all Christians must be apologists or not. Nancy also gives the hot seat a go and talks about the pursuit of perfection as a Christian.

By Virtue of the nature of the conversation there are tons of hookups provided however, apart form the obvious, Nancy and Vincent had some great suggestions to check out.

Vincent suggested listening to an amazing dynamic preacher called Robert Madu check out some of his sermons here https://youtu.be/GTtayX2VCL8

He also gave a bonus hook up devotional that he's currently loving called TableTalk

Subscribe here https://tabletalkmagazine.com/

Nancy suggested checking out a new show on the hillsong channel called Now With Natalie which features interviews with celebrities about faith.

Give it a watch here https://now.hillsongchannel.com/now-with-natalie-1

Mo took the Hot seat today, fielding some interesting questions we imagine non Christians would shoot. He did well tackling everything from the difference between Baptism by sprinkling vs immersion to the relevance and importance of prayer in tongues.

We were also joined again by the lovely Jemz and Bobby A asks the very real question, Is it ever too late to start something?

As is sometimes the case in the furnace, the fun conversation ended up turning very reflective and reassuring about the topic and the general consensus was that It's always the right time to do what God is saying to do right then!

Of course we've got some hookups for y'all

Mo suggested an app called myGP which is very useful for listeners in the UK as it helps them make appoints with their Gp and also has lots of Health monitoring functionality.

T'was a full furnace plus one today as we were joined by Mo's most definitely better half Jemz.

DC comics recently cancelled publication of a comic book that depicted Jesus Christ as the side kick of a superhero.

This was after 230000 people signed a petition demanding DC comics do so out of respect of the religion.

In light of this we, sans Robert who apparently had "back to back meetings" today, discuss our own hypocrisy given though equally offended when people make light of the person of Christ we also have laughed when shows make fun of other religions.

For our hookups

Mo suggested everyone checks out Pinterest as it can be useful for any field of endeavour

https://www.pinterest.co.uk/

Peter suggested checking out a podcast by David Tennant call David Tennant does a podcast wit... where he just has conversations with interesting people.
