It’s a bye-week Monday on the Bleacher Nation Bears Podcast, presented by Obvious Shirts. Hosts Patrick Flowers, Matt Rooney, and Luis Medina look ahead to the Bears’ upcoming Monday Night Football matchup against the Commanders and the team’s return from the bye.
The guys highlight the October 13th Watch Party presented by Ankin Law at Frontier on N. Milwaukee Street — with free drinks through halftime! Head to BleacherNation.com to RSVP.
Caleb Williams faces off against Jayden Daniels in what’s shaping up to be an early “measuring stick” game between the top quarterbacks from the 2024 NFL Draft class. Coming out of the bye, Chicago’s offensive line will have a new look with Theo Benedict expected to replace Braxton Jones at left tackle, while questions linger about Darnell Wright’s availability. The guys discuss how the adjustments could stabilize protection for Williams and help jump-start the run game, which remains the team’s biggest question mark on both sides of the ball.

It’s another Victory Monday on the Bleacher Nation Bears Podcast, presented by Obvious Shirts. Hosts Patrick Flowers, Matt Rooney, and Luis Medina break down Chicago’s nail-biting 25-24 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas and the growing sense that things really are different under Ben Johnson.
Caleb Williams once again showed poise in end-game situations, giving Bears fans a confidence they simply didn’t have a year ago. Johnson’s calm demeanor and in-game adjustments — including tweaks to the offensive line against Maxx Crosby’s relentless pass rush — gave Williams room to settle in and find success, including a growing connection with sophomore Rome Odunze.
The guys also look at some concerns heading into the bye week: the offensive line is banged up and in flux, with questions about Darnell Wright’s health and whether Braxton Jones’ days at left tackle are numbered. Meanwhile, the running game continues to sputter as D’Andre Swift struggles to find efficiency and Kyle Monangai pushes for a bigger role.

Welcome to the debut episode of the Bleacher Nation Bears Podcast, presented by Obvious Shirts. Hosts Patrick Flowers, Matt Rooney, and Luis Medina break down the Bears’ 31-14 win over the Cowboys at Soldier Field, giving Ben Johnson his first victory as head coach. Caleb Williams delivered arguably the best performance of his young career, throwing four touchdowns to four different receivers while avoiding a single sack.
The defense allowed just one touchdown in what felt like one of the most complete efforts the team has shown in years. Still, the running game struggled, with D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai both held under three yards per carry. The guys discuss what this game tells us about Caleb’s growth under Johnson — whether he’s turned the corner from promising prospect to really good quarterback — and what it means for the season ahead.
