Penn State tiebreaker scenarios for Big Ten Championship Game
In 2016, Penn State had an unlikely opportunity to make the Big Ten championship game. It required winning out and several other games to break its way in the final weeks of the season. Miraculously, that happened. So, could it happen again? The team is 9-1 heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, and we'll start the show by discussing the tiebreaker scenarios that the team would need to win in order to secure a spot in Indianapolis.
From there, we'll preview Penn State practice on Wednesday night and which players we're expecting to see and monitor at practice. Check out the Blue White Illustrated message board for more on later in the evening.
Penn State vs. Minnesota: Is the Gopher's defense good?
Next, we'll dive into a preview of this weekend. The Minnesota defense is one of the most opportunistic units in the Big Ten. Today, we'll unmask the Gopher's defense, how they play, and how Penn State could attack this group. We'll also discuss if the team can get production from its wide receivers in a game against primarily zone coverage.
Sunday Film Study: Young players that stood out
Finally, we'll review the end of the game between Penn State and Purdue. The Nittany Lions finally got its young talent on the field in a blowout, and we got our first extended look at some of the freshmen in the Class of 2024. We'll count down the top five freshmen who made an impact and discuss any other players you'd like to know about! Join the live chat during the show to ask a question and have it answered on air!

Penn State dominates bottom-dweller in the Big Ten
Penn State raced out to a 21-3 lead over Purdue in the first half of the game, powered by two efficient and effective drives to start the game. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar went 10-10 for 116 yards and a touchdown to start things off while the team averaged 6.4 yards per carry in the first half.
However, two stalled three-and-out drives stymied the scoring fest heading into halftime. But unlike last week against Washington, Penn State's offense didn't blink after halftime. The offense scored three times in the third quarter including two explosive runs from Tyler Warren and Beau Pribula and a 46-yard touchdown pass from Allar to Trey Wallace to end the day for the starting offense.
Warren was once again the star of the game for the Nittany Lions. The Penn State tight end caught all eight of his targets for 127 yards and a touchdown. He also added in 63 yards and a score on the ground, bringing his game total to 190 yards and two touchdowns.
Abdul Carter does it again
It wasn't a perfect night from the Penn State defense, but it was close. The backup linebackers and secondary entered the game with a 21-3 lead but gave up a field goal scoring drive in the second quarter.
Beyond that, it was a long day, once again, for this 1-9 Purdue team. Abdul Carter was once again the star on defense, racking up five tackles, two tackles for loss, and multiple quick pressures that ended plays for Purdue.
More game day content
Be sure to stick around after the postgame show to hear from head coach James Franklin. We'll have the Nittany Lion leader's postgame press conference after he's done speaking with the media following the win. Reporter Greg Pickel is on the scene in Indiana and will provide his Instant analysis after the game as well.

Penn State climbs in the College Football Playoff Rankings
The Nittany Lions got a good draw this week in the College Football Playoff rankings. Penn State rose to the number four slot after several ranked teams lost last weekend in conference play. What does that mean for the team's chances in the playoffs? Reporter Greg Pickel will give the lay of the land in the second week of the rankings and we'll discuss the future opportunities for the Nittany Lions.
Next, we'll take our eyes off the horizon and focus on today. Penn State opens Wednesday's practice to the media for our weekly view of the team's work. What are we looking for this week, and what do we want to learn from Penn State head coach James Franklin after practice? We'll preview tonight's action.
Penn State snap counts
One of the notable trends this year is that for a team ranked in the top five of the college football world, Penn State does not have many blowout wins. Yes, they've won several games by multiple scores, but the team has yet to put away lesser talent early. While we won't get into all of the reasons why, we will discuss the impact of those longer games on the defensive roster.
Who has played too many snaps this year and thus, needs a break? We'll discuss the two-year snap count comparison from the 2023 season to the 2024 season to find out.
Penn State vs Purdue preview and Breaking News
Finally, we'll take that information and apply it to the game this weekend. We'll discuss which players we expect to get a lighter workload on Saturday against Purdue and which players will replace them. We'll also discuss how Purdue plays and what that means. We know that Penn State should win and win big, but which players need to be a significant part of the success?
Lastly, we'll discuss breaking news that landed before the show.

The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team dominated Washington in the 2024 White Out Game on Saturday, setting up a critical stretch run for a team trying to make its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. Can the team fix its weaknesses in the final months? Join the BWI Live Show to discuss that, recruiting, and much more!
Penn State Football experts Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer sit down for an hour to discuss the latest in football, recruiting, and your questions. We'll be opening up the BWI Mailbag to end the show, so get your questions into the live chat during the show!
Penn State vs. Washington review
We'll start the show by recapping the game between Penn State and Washington on Saturday and discuss how the team got out to such a hot start on offense and what they did to consistently score touchdowns. Was that the most complete half of football that the team has played? We'll discuss.
Fitz's Recruiting Update
Next, we'll discuss what happened off the field for the Penn State Football team. The program picked up two commitments on Saturday and Sunday. First, four-star offensive lineman Layton von Brandt committed to the Nittany Lions. Fitz will discuss the impact of an offensive line commit two years out from his signing day.
Four-star defensive end Chaz Coleman followed on Sunday night. Check out our breakdown of that commitment from Monday. Fitz will follow up with his thoughts on Coleman's impact.
Finally, we'll review the team's other White Out recruiting news to end the segment.
Between The Lines
Penn State head coach James Franklin spoke with the media on Monday to kick off the team's final road game stretch, starting with Purdue this coming weekend. As is the case when facing a 1-8 team, very few of the questions and answers were about the Boilermakers. Today, we'll focus on the things Franklin said about redshirts, facilities and Hakeem Beamon
On how the team handles redshirts in the final three games:
"The way we look at the green/yellow/red. Green, you're trying to burn. Yellow, you're trying to hold the redshirt if you can. And red is a guy that's most likely going to redshirt. And all those things can changed based on injury.
What I'm saying is we manage this that we now should be at this stage, a lot of these guys be able to play and still be able to keep their redshirt."
Penn State Facilities
Well, what I will say is, number one, I'm appreciative of all the work that's gone in over our 11 years. One of the things I'd like to show you guys at some point is we've taken before-and-after pictures of everything, and I think back all the way to standing on that turf practice field and my back was up against the fence and you guys were asking me questions -- a lot of the same people in the room were asking me questions about facilities. And that was a battle when I first got here.
Beamon
"He's no longer a part of the program. I love Hakeem. Love his mom. It's been probably over seven years from the high school recruiting process and ups and downs and twists and turns and smiles and tears and everything in between. Graduating from Penn State, we're very, very proud of that for him and did a bunch of good things on the field. But he's no longer a part of the team."
BWI Mailbag
Finally, we'll end the show with questions from viewers and members of the Blue White Illustrated message board. Join the show to participate in the conversation!

Lions get a big win on a big stage
Penn State took out it's loss to Ohio State on Washington, racing out to a 28-0 lead in the first half of the White Out. Quarterback Drew Allar was 14-18 for 140 yards, including 56 yards to wide receiver Trey Wallance.
Tight end Tyler Warren wasn't invisible at the goal line this time; the 260-pound tight end went vertical from the three-yard line to score a touchdown and added another second in the first half.
The scoring slowed down in the second half, with a fumble from Warren on a promising drive to start the third quarter. That led to a field goal from Washington, who benched starter Will Rogers at halftime in favor of the more mobile backup Demond Williams Jr. While Williams Jr. did give the Huskies more breathing room in the run game, he was sacked multiple times in the second half, leading to only six points before Penn State ended the game with a scoring drive in the fourth quarter.
Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter was the player of the night on defense, finally getting his breakout game. He had four tackles for loss and two sacks, plus a forced fumble.
Next up for Penn State and postgame coverage
Penn State is now 8-1 on the season after the win, with a road trip to West Lafayette to face Purdue next weekend. Ohio State blew out the Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon, with Purdue falling 45-0 to fall to 1-8 on the season. The Nittany Lions will be the favorite in all of its final three games of the regular season. Stay tuned to the Blue-White Illustrated YouTube Channel postgame for more, including James Franklin's postgame press conference, instant analysis from our reporters at the game, and quarterback Drew Allar's press conference.

Penn State wrestling hosted three of MatScouts top 20 Class of 2026 targets for official visits last weekend. All wrestle at the same school. The nation's Nos. 1 and 2 juniors, Bo Bassett and Jax Forrest, were both in State College along with No. 20 Sam Herring. The trip was on campus from Friday through Sunday, which gave it plenty of time to look all it could from the wrestling program while also checking out a sold-out Beaver Stadium for the Lions' football game with Ohio State. The crew also saw a volleyball match Friday night.
The latest Nittany Lion recruiting updates headline this week's Penn State wrestling show from Blue-White Illustrated. Host Greg Pickel and Thomas Frank Carr discuss those and the biggest questions left facing the Lions as the season sits about a week away. Find links to audio and video of this week's show below.
