An idiom is a phrase that typically presents a figurative non-literal meaning. Idioms of which there are thousands of examples, are essentially a formulaic way of making it easier to communicate. However, there may be real danger in negative idioms such as, “I don’t know” and “I can’t”, because they program the brain over time to stop trying to be inquisitive, resourceful and ultimately serve to dumb us down and steal our confidence to learn and grow new and exciting brain wirings.
