Aaaannnnd...we're back! A pandemic, an office move, two months, and several new hires later, we've returned to the podcast to assess the damage, and...well, it's not pretty out there. This week we talk about:
• Impatient customers during a global pandemic
• Our unsuccessful attempts to avoid emotions & robot our way through existence
• How California, pizza, and Satan are interrelated (trigger warning for all you avocado fans)
• Listener answers to Question of the Day
• What's next for Boredwalk
This week on the podcast we:
• Share a review
• Discuss recent positive SCOTUS decisions
• Take a bite out of Officer Karen's Egg McMuffin rant
• Check in on the new HQ hunt with an assist from our law demon
• Receive an unsolicited visit from the tone police
• Break down the "few bad apples" argument re: law enforcement
• Give some advice to the aspiring entrepreneurs and artists in the audience, and explain why we're probably not the best mentors
Things have been bananas here at Boredwalk HQ the last few weeks, but we were able to squeeze in some recording time last weekend so we figured we'd scream into the void some more! This week we talk about the Black Lives Matter protests in the wake of the George Floyd murder (and countless others), our frustrations with law enforcement and the "few bad apples" crowd, and our impending move to larger space. We also read some reviews and discuss what it should really mean when people say that countries should be run like businesses. We're solving problems left and right!
This week we discuss:
• Whiny parents
• The 1970s nadir of Tom & Jerry cartoons
• Nancy Pelosi's passive-aggressive glory
• The supply chain issues impacting us personally and professionally
• Recent Question of the Day posts and fan comments (as well as our own)
• Facebook's foibles
• Other stuff!
This week on the podcast we discuss:
• How conscious consumerism is the easiest way to be an activist from the comfort of your couch
• The wildcat moms patronizing escort services during a pandemic
• How everything is always our fault, even when it's not (or, how we learned to stop worrying and just shrug our shoulders at badly behaved customers)
• Why all the characters in The Great Gatsby are the worst
• How "pre-Columbian" is just a fancy way of saying "before Europeans ruined it"
This week we discuss:
• Why we've given up on grocery stores.
• How coronavirus is ruining our lives THIS week.
• How the E Street Band was like an all-star basketball team.
• How Jeff Bezos is evil and why Amazon should fail.
• What happened to everyone's high school bullies, including ours.
• How we would deploy clones of ourselves if we had them.
This week we read some reviews, and share some awkward and/or cringe-worthy high school stories from our own pasts as well as those of Question of the Day commenters. We also explain how all economic systems are flawed thanks to humans being the worst, and have some choice words for the directors of mid-60s Japanese monster flicks. Enjoy!
This week we find out that Boredwalk is doing its part to re-populate the planet by helping customers get their swerve on. Sexy! We read a few other reviews, a ton of QOTD comments, and have some choice words for the mayor of Las Vegas and the governors of Georgia & Florida. Matt also rants about stupid billboards and the stupid companies that use them. Meredith denounces TikTok and encourages others to do the same, and Matt bemoans the lack of STEM fundamentals plaguing our political discourse. Fun times!
This week we read a bunch of reviews — including a new one about the podcast! — and tons of QOTD comments. We also peel the curtain back about how Boredwalk is muddling through our current shared crisis, and finally put to bed the GOP lie that corporate tax breaks stimulate the economy. We're business owners, and we have the receipts! Finally, we discover that applying for disaster relief funds is not unlike summoning a demon. With interest rates this low, who wouldn't sell their soul?
This week we're kibbitzing with actor-turned-coder and all-around tech champion Chloe Condon! We talk about how we're passing the time under quarantine, the dirty secret about working as a creative pro (there's rarely any money in it!), transitioning from theater to tech, and Chloe's efforts to inspire the next generation of STEM workers! Chloe also weighs in on recent QOTD posts, and Matt apologizes on behalf of all cis straight dudes because as a rule, we're the worst. Shape up, fellas!
