💵 Now, onto the business of business. A rate cut is coming next week, with another likely before the end of the year — and possibly two more early next year. Mortgage rates could even dip below 5% by buying season.

Why now? It looks like Chairman Powell wants to go out with a bang, and these moves are creating strong momentum in risk assets.

Meanwhile, the U.S. has sanctioned Russian oil and is considering secondary sanctions for countries that buy from them. That will cause some market adjustments, and we may also see increased pressure on China, whose economy remains weak due to tariffs, declining production, and a population crunch.
