Episode 64 - Visual and Video Content Marketing (Pubcon Pro 2018)
Casie Gillette joins the guys to dig into Visual Content and take you beyond their upcoming Pubcon Pro session taking place in October 2018. Not on the podcast is Kathleen Bodenlos, Director of Marketing, Carnegie Museum of Natural History but she will most certainly be there with Mat and Casie in Pubcon.
For a quick primer on what the full session description is:
Learn how to use visual content to grow your brand, community, and online presence, which will, in turn, help everything else you want to do, such as SEO. We will look at how content markers can create visual content without large budgets or resources. When thinking about content, we usually refer to blog posts, whitepapers, main site content, etc., but there are so many other things you can do. There are some fantastic tools that can help content marketers spice up what they are doing both from an image and video perspective (data images, gifs, facebook video, etc.).
If you are thinking of going beyond written content or looking for ways to better produce visual content this session and episode should help you get some ideas. Casie brings her extensive B2B background and client examples to the show and conference session.

  • E63 – How Can You Market a Service Business on a Budget?
How Can You Market a Service Business on a Budget?
This week the guys dig into a frequently asked question they have gotten over the years. Mat takes the lead and starts with those that have an example budget of $300 a month to market your Consulting Service, Podcast, Life Coach, Organization Consultant, Business Coach, Car Detailing or Business Consulting business. These are just some examples but there are many other "service" businesses that people do as a side hustle or as a full-time job.
One of the early questions you will need to answer before anything else - what is your USP? USP = Unique Selling Position. Creating a site, a logo, and everything else should wait until you have that says Mat.
There are a number of examples covered in the episode - the HVAC business that used Facebook groups to promote their business and others that just create content for social media and then use paid social to promote it.
Here at the Podcast, we do pretty much all the things that we are suggesting in this episode. Dave breaks down what the guys do with their limited marketing budget and how the guys keep things simple.
Lastly, Mat brings up the topic of Google Adwords Express and oh man. That is its own episode but the short version is that the guys (Dave especially), isn't a big fan.

  • E62 – Ways any Business Can Measure Paid Search & Social Offline
Ways any Business Can Measure Paid Search & Social Offline
Damon Gochneaur joins this week to talk about his experience with not only single location businesses but large multi-location businesses and what they both can do to measure online spend offline. The guys talk beacons, Power BI, Domo and a good amount about Google My Business and the wealth of data sitting in there just waiting for you to take it.
For a recent project, Damon even talks about his Denton Diablos and how the most important tracking code he could put on his site was a Facebook pixel to get audience data. There may also be a rant or section where the importance of call tracking and custom URLs are discussed - the more you can track the better!
So if you are interested in how and ways to measure offline conversions from your social ads and search ads - this is the episode for you. If you are on the larger size of say 30+ locations and spend $50,000 or more a month with Google we have some good news. If you are smaller we have some workarounds so don't worry, we have you covered by the end of the show too.

  • E61 – What Makes Good Leadership?
    What Makes Good Leadership?
This episode was spurred by a post by Tony Wright and a post he made that spurred Mat to want to dig into the idea around Leadership in the industry and even in your (and every) company. Mat leads the topic and explores some people that have inspired him in the past and gives a shout out to those doing great (leadership) work now like Ross Hudgens @ Siege Media.
All in all the topic is something we can barely cover in a single episode but hope we were able to cover enough to inspire you to be a good leader and steward in your own company and to those that may look up to you.
