Tocher Lee is a four-sport athlete at Butte High School. He is probably best known for hitting a 3-pointer that sent the Bulldogs to the Class AA State tournament last season.

He is also a standout in football, baseball and track. Unfortunately, Lee's senior season in football was cut short with a toe injury that required surgery.

When he was our teacher at Butte High School, we had no idea that Mr. Michael Lawson was a true American Hero.

As a Marine, Mr. Lawson served two tours in Vietnam. He earned a Bronze Star with a Combat "V" to go along with a Purple Heart.

Butte Central senior Michael Peck is one of the most well-rounded young men you will ever meet.

A mountain of a young man, he stands at 6 foot 1, 280 pounds. You can tell that he loves the weight room.

While he didn’t play football as a freshman, he started three years in the trenches for the Butte Central football team. He became a force for a BC team that once again overachieved this past season — until key injuries became too much for the Maroons to overcome.

Michale has long been a part of the Orphan Girl Children’s Theatre, he is a member of the Key Club, he plays in a band, and he is the student body president.

In July, Michael went to Washington, D.C. to represent Montana at the American Legion Boys Nation.

Deer Lodge native Gary Swant is teacher, scientist, bird watcher and author. His book “My Montana Birds” was written with the goal to help others get into bird watching.

Gary has traveled all seven continents to watch and study birds. He works with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Atlantic Richfield Co. (British Petroleum) to study birds in an effort to give us an accurate indication of the health of our environment.
