Our grandpa always used to say to us, “There’s three things you need to know about women. They’re faster than us, they can smell fear, and if you give them a reason, they’ll kill you quicker than your can spit.”

He did drink a lot though, so we’re pretty sure he was actually referring to mountain lions, but just to be cautious we always kept those three things in mind.

This week we grabbed some Widow Maker Black Ale from Keweenaw Brewing Company, and discussed a couple female directed films, about women who were given a reason, and did exactly what grandpa said they would. Maybe he knew what he was talking about after all.

Episode 173 - Taking A Lycan To You

What’s our idea of a perfect Valentine’s Day date? We rent a quaint little cabin in the middle of nowhere, and bring everything we need for a lovely evening. At dinner you make ask if our steak isn’t cooked enough.

“No, I like my meat rare, but I think I’m ready for dessert.” As we playfully nibble your finger.

“Oh my, you’re an animal.” You say.

“Sweetheart, you have no idea.”

As the clouds shift outside, you notice that our once sapphire blue eyes are now a horrible pale yellow. Our lips, dripping with saliva, start to peel back from our teeth which are now three times the length they used to be. You scream in terror as the beautiful men who sat before you, now tower over you, covered in tufts of thick fur, howling at the full moon.

After that, it’s a pretty standard night. We take our seat, apologize for startling you (the first transformation of the month is always a rough one), have an interesting conversation about the preconceived notions of werewolves, then end the night with a few Luna Wheat Ale’s from Beards Brewery, and a discussion about two of our favorite werewolf films.

So we always say, “Yeah, it must seem like it sometimes. With the ideas that we come up with on the show, and the absolute depth of our conversations, you probably assume that we must be on some mind-altering drugs that enhance our perception and allow us to transcend the mental realms of normal film analysis.”

Then we find out they were curious because it seems like two grown men who can’t string together a single coherent thought must be on drugs.

Episode 170 - It's Mall Madness!

If you were lucky enough to grow up in the 80's and 90's, like we were, then you know how special a shopping mall is. They were more than just a collection of stores in one place. They were a place to hang out with all of your buds, a place to hone your personal style, a place to meet up with your crush and treat her to a Cinnabon and an Orange Julius. You could see a movie, go to dinner, buy a new pair of jeans, and pick up the new the new Pearl Jam record without ever leaving the building. If we do have one complaint about malls though, it's the murderous burn victims who live under the mall and travel through the heating ducts. Like, why the hell does every single mall feel the need to have one of those? On the bright side, we were never really bothered too much by those guys, because the lethal, autonomous murder-robots that kept watch over the malls always kept them at bay.

Episode 169 - You Know What They Say About Guys With Big Feet...

If there is anything you can say about us, it's that we keep real. The argument could be made that we are the realest people you know. The fact that most of you have never seen us in person, yet you still believe in us, is all the proof anyone would need to know that we are the realest. We know, that logic is airtight, and that is precisely why we use it all the time. For example, we've never seen the elves that make our Keebler Elf cookies, but we believe in them, so they exist. We've never seen the owner of the voice on the other end of the phone when we call the time lady, but we believe that the soothing female voice is coming from a tentacled Lovecraftian time monster, so that's what it is. However probably the most obvious example is our belief in our most favorite of all the giant, hairy beasts. No, not F***ing Brian. We're talking about Bigfoot.

The reason we’re not concerned is because unlike most people of the world, who seem to think that these problems are manmade, we know that they are actually the work of pure, otherworldly evil. An evil so powerful that there is only one who can vanquish it for good. We have faith that our savior will descend upon this malevolent force, and restore balance to our world once and for all. And on that day, trembling in shadow of the great liberator, evil shall know the name Ashley J. Williams.

Can you believe it’s almost the end of the decade? How are you guys celebrating this year? We’ll probably just hang out, watch some horror movies, maybe a have a few cocktails.
