The C. O. W. S. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf's In the Blink of an Eye Part 3 #Mississippi #Hungry

Listen Later

The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 3rd study session on Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf's In The Blink of an Eye. Abdul-Rauf, formerly known as Chris Jackson, is a retired NBA player who became infamous for not participating in the national anthem during the 1996 season. Abdul-Rauf was quickly ejected from the league and all but forgotten. In fact, White journalists found as many of Abdul-Rauf's black co-workers as possible to have them criticize how he responded to White Supremacy/Racism. This very dynamic is being replicated currently with basketball player Kyrie Irving being widely admonished by many of his non-white colleagues. Gus hopes that by studying Abdul-Rauf's tribulations, non-white people will better understand the importance of resisting the urge to criticize other Victims of Racism. Last week, Abdul-Rauf talked about the corrosive impact of negro sitcoms like Sanford & Son and Good Times. He said these programs instilled a deep sense of hopelessness about the plight of black people - and both model namecalling other black people. Abdul-Rauf said sex was all around him. He talked about black children having sex at age 12 and 13 and young children being raped by their teacher (including female teachers raping black boys). It took his high school basketball coach's White wife to recommend that a doctor evaluate Abdul-Rauf (Chris Jackson) for Tourette Syndrome. Learning that he suffered from an ailment gave the young basketball prodigy a sense of comfort about his health struggles. #MinisterMalcolmX #ReligionOfWhiteSupremacy #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#
