The Palisades fire has killed at least a dozen people and devastated thousands of acres of property. There were mandatory evacuations in areas of Los Angeles County where Gus T just visited (Santa Monica, Malibu). Gus' number one gripe while visiting SoCal was the toxic air quality. What's better than breathing? With the devastating fires, the air quality is even worse now. And if all this wasn't enough, there are widespread reports of "looters" ransacking evacuated houses. Radio Program hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism 01/10/24 Courtesy of Dr. Maya Angelou's autobiography The Heart of a Woman, we ask non-white listeners if they would admit a lack of important skills when being offered a new job or promotion? Dr. Angelou chose to honestly divulge her shortcomings when offered a job early in her career. A number of non-white listeners shared their own view on this matter, and they chose to remain quiet while learning as much as possible while in the new position. We also hear a number of reminders about why non-white people should avoid wearing headphones/earbuds while in the workplace. It's vital to be cognizant of what's being said and happening around you in your work area. We'll also review the sentencing of Major Michael Stockin who, according to FOX13 Seattle news, "Pleaded guilty in military court Tuesday to a total of 41 specifications." This including groping the genitals of numerous male soldiers. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 3rd study session on the late Dr. Maya Angelou's The Heart of A Woman. This is a rare "double dip" for the book club, as we read I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings in the summer of 2014 just after the transition of the famed author and Wake Forest scholar. Ironically, when The C.O.W.S. last read Dr. Angelou, she was frolicking as a young lady in San Francisco. Gus T. was inundated with the life and literary work of Dr. Angelou during his recent Golden State sojourn. And it took Gus seeing the documentary film Soundtrack to a Coup d'État three times to accurately write down the title Heart of a Woman. The extraordinary film on the assassination of Patrice Lumumba is "receipt-heavy," and Andrée Blouin and Dr. Angelou's respective memoirs are just two of the many books in the project. Last week, Dr. Angelou described hearing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Fred Shuttlesworth and Wyatt Tee Walker of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference speaking in New York about their counter-racist work in the south. Dr. Angelou was so touched by their words she began thinking of how she could act to support their efforts. She's strikingly candid about the widespread tendency of she and most other black people to be "uncle toms" and the necessity of telling her black son about "the power of White power." A reported Terrorist attack in New Orleans, Louisiana hours into 2025 resulted in15 people being killed when a motorist drove a truck over a pedestrian path in the French Quarter. The attacker, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, engaged in gun fire with the police and is reported to have had explosive devises as well. Hours later, a Tesla cybertruck exploded in front of a Las Vegas, Nevada Trump hotel. The White motorist may have been deceased prior to the detonation. President Joe Biden announced that at this moment, there's no evidence linking the Nevada and Louisiana attacks. A black male, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, is suspected of acting alone in New Orleans and of being influenced by the terrorist group ISIS. The Nevada attacker is reportedly a Colorado Springs White Man and former Green Beret who has not been connected with ISIS. Both suspects have military experience and spent time at North Carolina's Fort Bragg. Gus T. emphasized the number of black male veterans who've engaged in recent acts of mass violence. We'll see if non-white listeners work jobs that provide end of year "bonuses" - actual cash as opposed to a satchel of roasted peanuts or a half dozen day-old bagels. A large number of White workers hold posh private jobs where they receive bloated end of year payouts - that may or not be legal. We'll also discuss the ongoing investigation into former New York City Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey - who's accused of using his NYPD position of power to solicit sexual favors from a female subordinate.

The young Dr. Angelou fried chicken for and entertained Billie "Lady Day" Holiday and sat while the jazz legend sang "Strange Fruit" to her 9-year-old son, Guy. Broadcasting legend and Victim of White Supremacy Greg Gumbel died this week at the age of 78 - which is kind of privileged for black males. Gumbel was one of the first black male television broadcasters on a major television network. In recent years, he was a fixture of CBS' coverage of the March NCAA basketball tournament - right alongside Luther Vandross's rendition of "One Shining Moment." Sadly, not surprisingly, Greg and his brother Bryant Gumbel have both been maligned for not being "black enough"/"sellouts" - whatever that means. With preconception, Gus was stunned to learn that Gumbel was once sued by the state of Arizona. This kerfuffle revolved around the desert state's deep rooted rejection of a federal holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Gumbel reported that the NFL considered rejecting Arizona as a location to host the Super Bowl game if they refused to refine their Racism and accept the King holiday. Numerous employees, including Gus T., were required to punch for work while millions drank eggnog and opened gifts. We hear great illustrations of the importance of documentation. In Seattle, Dr. Benjamin Danielson won $21 million in his lawsuit against Seattle Children's Clinic - which is supposed to serve non-white and low income children and families with "dignity." Dr. Danielson described the wide spread System of White Supremacy which compromised his ability to provide care. He documented the widespread instances of abuse. The Context of White Supremacy continues our lengthy "holiday " tradition of broadcasting on White Jesus' birthday. With Gus just back from California and still in the midst of cataloging and receiving constructive material from numerous White institutions, we pause to revisit audio of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. 3rd generation general and child psychiatrist Dr. Welsing had a signature public exchange with Stanford University's Nobel Prize winning scholar and Race Solider Dr. William Shockley - who was renown for his views on the intellectual deficits of people classified as black. Gus T. thought these two scholars had one public debate on journalist Tony Brown's platform. This is false. Dr. Welsing and Dr. Shockley had a number of exchanges, and Stanford University has Shockley's personal recordings of several of these exchanges. Gus T. was able to get digital copies of everything, and will share a teaspoon from their 1973 joust. Gus will also disclose why he is not sharing the full audio. In short, non-white people - especially those interested in counter-racism, do not associate or support Gus T.
