The Cam & Strick Podcast

On this episode, the boys are joined by Stanley Cup Champion and NHL journeyman Jim Dowd. Shortly after starting his career with some dominant Devils teams, he lifted the cup in 94/95 and went on to play another 12+ years spread across 8 NHL teams. He talks about Lou Lamoriello and winning with the Devils, getting his life back on the right path, a hilarious Mike Milbury story and much more. Before the interview, the boys get into the current Oilers and Blues winning streaks, the Hockey Canada criminal charges, Gallagher's 5-game suspension, and more. Glad to have old-school champ  Jimmy Dowd on this edition of The Cam & Strick Podcast.

On top of having one of the most insane saves in NHL history, the 1995 1st Rounder also led the league in GAA for the 99/00 season and currently holds the NHL's modern record for the longest shutout streak at 332:01. On this episode the boys are joined by 600+ NHL game vet and 1993 first overall pick, Alexandre Daigle. If you’re not familiar with how much of a stud Daigle was coming into the draft, all you have to do is look at the names drafted after him, Chris Pronger, Paul Kariya, Pavol Demitra, and Saku Koivu. The long time Ottawa senator talks about being called a “bust”, his infamous quote after being taken 1st overall, playing with Lindros and Mario, plus much more. Before the interview the boys get into the Leafs HC Sheldon Keefe praising Colorado a bit *too* much, the very odd Drysdale/Cutter Gauthier situation, and if Andy could survive a night in the cold.

WE. ARE. BACK. On our first episode of 2024, the boys are joined by former NHL head coach and longtime Western Michigan University coach Andy Murray. For any of our veteran listeners, you've probably heard that name come up many, many times in previous episodes; this interview has been a while in the making and it's worth the wait. Murray discusses his time in St. Louis, telling  us about coaching young Oshie and Perron, the somewhat controversial choice of making Eric Brewer the captain, Dustin Brown and other young studs during his time in LA, plus much more at the national and college level. Before the interview, the boys break down the world junior drama, Nylander's HUGE contract, Bieksa going after Nick Cousins, and much more. We missed ya folks!

On this episode, the boys are joined by 2 time Stanley cup winner with New Jersey and current head coach at Boston University Jay Pandolfo. Pando was an unsung hero of those dominant Devils teams, playing nearly 900 games and never taking a shift off while always doing the right thing, the definition of a 'Lou Guy.' He talks to us about having their head coach fired in Jersey while being first in the NHL, seeing Scott Stevens obliterate guys up close, a few of his biggest studs at Boston including Celebrini, Hutson and Tuch (MTL), Willander (VAN), plus much more. Before the interview the boys get into Kyrou and Berube, Rantanen calling out the father of his teammate, Brady Tkachuk getting frustrated and much more.

On this episode, the boys are joined by hands down one of the most entertaining coaches in recent years and long-time player, Dean Evason. It’s not hard to see that Dean played over 800 NHL games by his passion behind the bench and he has no interest in hiding it. He was recently let go by the Minnesota Wild after a disappointing start, but for all of those who loved watching his emotions on full display, he’ll be back in the NHL soon. There are a ton of hot topics, and Dean gives us some incredibly honest and insightful answers. He talks to us about being let go and how he found out, calling out Matt Boldy and other stars, scratching Zach Parise, punching his assistant coaches (jokingly) and so much more. You’ve probably heard many coaches talk, but we can promise you... NONE have ever interviewed like this.  Enjoy one of our greatest guests ever, a truly one-of-a-kind coach Dean Evason on this edition of The Cam & Strick Podcast.

The definition of an absolute beauty, Welly tells us the story of playing with 2 right skates, butting heads in the Vancouver locker room, a Young Evander Kane and much more. Before the interview the boys get into a TON of hockey including what the answer in Ottawa is (we have a name in mind), how good Kucherov is, Marner taking one to the jaw and much more.

On this episode the boys are joined by one of the best defensive D-men in the NHL, Jaccob Slavin. The former Lady Byng winner's point totals won’t pop off the score sheet, but there’s very few guys coaches would rather have on their blue line. He talks about how he NEVER takes penalties (8 PIM in 76 games last year), what Brent Burns keeps in his backpack, the hit he took from Sam Bennett in the Eastern Conference Final, and much more. Before the interview, the boys get into the ridiculous Connor Bedard/Corey Perry rumor, Patrick Kane officially signing in Detroit, the chaotic Panthers-Senators game between the Tkachuk brothers and much more.
