Eric Brewer had an interesting career that saw him go from teenage phenom to grinding out a career that lasted over 1,000 NHL games. From winning Olympic gold in 2002 to being traded for Chris Pronger. Brewer experienced the highs and lows of an NHL player. The pressure he felt going to St. Louis, dealing with a serious injury, and then surprisingly being named Captain when his relationship with the fanbase was still in the feeling out process. From playing with Chara, to dealing with Mike Milbury, to leaving Edmonton. Check out Eric Brewer on this edition of the Cam and Strick Podcast.
The most random and incredible conversation took place with former Hart Trophy and Vezina wine Jose Theodore. This guy will go down as one of the better guests we've ever had on the Cam and Strick Podcast. From playing Montreal to dealing with his fair share of controversy, no stone is left unturned in this conversation. This guy is an absolute beauty and if you don't love Jose Theodore after this conversation then we can't help you. Jose Theodore is a rockstar, find out why on this edition of the Cam and Strick Podcast
Razzle, Dazzle, Basil McRae joins the Cam and Strick podcast for an unreal conversation. We bet you didn't know Basil McRae has this much history in the game of hockey. His lengthy career with the London Knights as an owner and as a GM, working his way up the ladder with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and an NHL career that spanned over 15 years which saw him go toe to toe with some of the baddest players to ever play the game. That's Basil McRae. This dude is smart, super-intelligent, and understands the game of hockey as well as anyone working in the business. Not to mention he's widely respected by virtually anyone who's come in contact with him. We talk about the London Knights, Dale Hunter, John Tortorella, Bob Probert, Joey Kocur, Wayne Gretzky, Brett Hull, Adam Oates, Mike Keenan, Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux, we could go on and one. This guy has experience with all of these guys. We also go in-depth with his cameo experience on The Mighty Ducks motion picture which is arguably the most popular hockey movie of all time. Basil McRae is awesome and so is this episode of the Cam and Strick Podcast.
The Sutter family is hockey royalty, everyone knows that. Brian Sutter is the ultimate Captain and the leader of the Sutter clan. When he speaks you listen. He's also one of the top cattle ranchers in Canada. But when you think of Brian Sutter you think of hard work, character, and the St. Louis Blues. In St. Louis, Sutter is an absolute icon to a generation of Blues fans. Storytime with Brian Sutter is an instant classic and you'll feel better about yourself after listening. What was it like growing up in the Sutter household? How did six brothers make it to the NHL at the same time? What about the brother that didn't make it? What were his parents like and how did they all become great hockey players? The history of the Sutter family, and then some, in this edition of The Cam and Strick Podcast.
Longtime NHL player and Head Coach Gerard Gallant joins the Cam and Strick Podcast. For a stretch in his career, he was as good of an all-around player as you'd find in the NHL. He'd team up with the likes of Bob Probert and Joey Kocur, beat the crap out of you, and then bury a game-winner all in the same game. No surprise he's been a great coach only to be unappreciated in his last couple of stops. Florida and Vegas dropped him with virtually no warning and many people would suggest with very little reason as well. He led Vegas to the Stanley Cup final in their inaugural season only to be on the street two years later. Same in Florida where the infamous taxi cab photos were seen worldwide. It won't be long before he's back behind an NHL bench as many have him pegged to land with the expansion Seattle Kraken or back in Detroit with his buddy Steve Yzerman. Enjoy Gerard Gallant on this edition of the Cam and Strick Podcast.
Melissa Engelland joins the Cam and Strick Podcast, that's right, not Deryk but Melissa provides arguably the most entertaining opening 20 minutes in the history of the Cam and Strick Podcast. She eventually hands the phone over to maybe the most underrated tough guy of his era. Underrated in the sense that the average fan may not understand he was tough as shit. He could also play and deliver a story and career few players can. In fact, he's the only player in history to play in over 100 ECHL games, 300 AHL, and 600 in the NHL. Seriously, it's pretty insane when you think about it. He also became a Las Vegas icon after delivering an amazing speech honoring the victims of the horrible mass shooting in Vegas just prior to the Golden Knights inaugural season. We loved having this guy on, as he is exactly who we thought he'd be. Cools as hell and appreciative for what he has. Truly one of the good guys in the league. He's now been named Assistant to the Owner, which is a badass title in and of itself. How can we explain this interview? Do yourself a favor and just listen as Deryk Engelland joins the Cam and Strick Podcast.
Kevin Bieksa brought the heat with the boys delivering one of the most honest interviews you'll hear. Mostly entertaining, some seriousness, Bieksa sheds some light on who he is as a person that led to him playing over 800 games in the NHL. Out of Bowling Green University, Bieksa had to grind his way from a late NHL draft pick into a mainstay on the Vancouver Canucks blueline for years. He was a core player and a face of a franchise that enjoyed great success on the ice. Bieksa reveals his true colors in this interview, a great teammate who cares about other people. This includes former teammate, the late Rick Rypien, who Bieksa and his wife brought in to live with his family shortly before his passing eleven years ago. Bieksa is now transitioning into a TV career after being hired on Hockey Night in Canada as an analyst where his sick hair and witty sense of humor are on display. An underrated tough guy who loved playing for John Tortorella, Kevin Bieksa joins Cam and Strick on this edition of the Cam and Strick Podcast.
